Blind Item #4
Apparently neither reality star "author" of the book they are currently selling has actually read their own book. One was asked a question about a portion of the book and was lost for words about what the person was talking about. The person had to show them in the book the pages they were referring too.

ReplyDeleteI don't understand what audience they are aiming for. Anyone who's seen them even once on that stupid show can tell pretty fast that just 2 monkeys with a typewriter could turn out more intelligent and interesting work than Kendall and Kylie.

Those two uneducated Jenner girls whose names begin with K. I'm curious why the real author would agree to write this book, and let these two idiots put their names on it. Do ghost writers make that much money?

ReplyDeleteNaomi Campbell did the same thing in the 1990s. She 'wrote' a novel called Swan. When questioned about it, it was clear that she not only had not written it, but had not read it.

ReplyDelete@Riven and @Molls Sadly, much of book marketing today tries to parlay celebrity or public awareness and turn it into a product that sells purely on that.
ReplyDeleteIn this case, someone thought tweens and young adults like Kendall and Kylie AND they like dystopian futuristic fantasies involving young protagonists. Boom.
The Jenner girls will make money off of their licensing/book deal. For the ghost writer it's a gig that pays, probably not all that well.

ReplyDeleteI'm educated and I'm an author. Very hard to get my stuff read and seen. They are uneducated kids who had a ghost writer write and they don't even know what their novel is about!!! Makes me insane!!!!!! Running out to get a sex tape and a reality show so I can get my next book published. Geeezzzzzzzz!!!!!

ReplyDeleteI knew someone who was a ghost-writer for a woman. The woman wasn't famous, but she was very rich and she thought it would impress the people in her circle if she was an "author". She even held a little book party after she "finished" the book and i think she signed autographs for her friends too. What a total sham and you'd think the woman would be embarrassed but I guess not. As for the ghost writer, she said she didn't care about any of that, she got paid and that's what mattered.
