Blind Item #3

This C+ list mostly movie actress who used to be A list and still has A++ list name recognition skipped a charity event because the organizers wouldn't pay her. They were willing to fly her in for the event and pay for her hotel, but the actress wanted them to pay for an entourage of five, a private jet, hotel for three nights and pay her $50K. Everyone who did attend, did so for free and most didn't even ask for their flights to be paid.

  4. My guess was poor. Sandy's is way better although A++? I thought even Princess Di only warranted an A+ the other day.

  5. Ya, I was gonna say.. didn't we just have this one?

  6. Ratings are always subjective opinion of whatever Enty is working at the time.

  7. The ratings change sometimes. Call me crazy, but to me "charity" & "paycheck" are mutually exclusive. This is obviously why I don't have a job with a non-profit. Kno Won be crazy.

  8. I really should give up talking about ratings. But my definition of A++ name recognition is that my mother would know who this person is.

  9. Did The List give an explanation of Name Recognition grading? I don't recall that part.
C+ List with A++ List Name Recognition?
    Monica Lewinsky?

  13. Who was the answer before? Lea Michelle something like that?

Indeed these do all seem the same except for the demands surrounding their attendance. And why were they willing to pay this person when others weren't asking. Oh hell, we've beat this horse already.

  16. I read a book a few years ago about a guy who was a promoter slash fund raiser in Hollywood and in DC. He used to dream up galas to give someone famous a big award for being a fabulous humanitarian and then the bucks would flow into the coffers and there would be a big payoff for all the players. Sharin Stine was one if those he had as an honoree and she always demanded big $$ to show up to be awarded. Also every big name designer, jeweler and whoever makes that would go round would cough up expensive items to gift the honorees and presenters for them showing up and getting their 15 seconds on the red carpet. Then investors would spring for really big $ to hobnob with all the stars thinking it was going to the charity. I was shocked at first when I read what a scam most if those humanitarian awards parties are. And Sharon Stone was on of the worst.

    2. @AB, very interesting. Can you remember the title?

    3. Sounds like a nice gig, if you can get it. Except for the DC part. That just reeks of skeeze.

    4. @AB: I'm not surprised. I took a course in non-profit management and we discussed these types of things. Fascinating class. You literally had to throw away any ideals that you had about fundraising and the wealthy and see things from a brand new (and to me, very upside down/inside out) perspective.

  17. This is something KimK would pull but she is not an actress

  18. That's a shame @AB. Totally can see that happening unfortunately.

^^tried to type out "you guys" but it read stupid and I know how 'smarty pants' ya'll are...

  20. AB: I know what you're talking about. I know people from the non profits and they tell me everybody knows celebs use the "humanitarian" label just for two different reason: because they want to be paid (i.e. Sharon Stone) or because they need good publicity (i.e. Sean Penn)

  22. There was an article yesterday that Sharon Stone was supposed to host the World Music Awards but backed out bc they wouldn't pay her in advance. Then they got Psmela Anderson to host but ended up canceling bc of lack of funds. Does that count as a charity event?

  23. Huh. Last time around, it was Nicole Kidman wanting $25k.

    Hey, @Heather!

  25. I've always suspected some of the charities to be scams. Seems I recently read some wannabe rapper is starting a charity....it made me actually laugh out loud.
