As if this needs an answer (Met Gala). That's when it gets interesting. I wonder of that's why Kimye got married in advance: they were either invited and want to debut it on the carpet, or they didn't recover an invite, and they're saving face.
It depends on if you mean in terms of recognition or greatness. The dresses worn at the Oscars are more recognizable and more people see them and at The Met people are dressed for fashion.
Different objectives - Oscars is about being classy in front of a billion people. Met Gala more cutting edge fashion, so some wilder outfits that most would consider too out-there for the Oscars. Or just ugly like the sofa slipcover KimK got duped into wearing last year. OMG - I just googled that monstrosity - the dress, the gloves, the shoes - ALL MATCHING in that hideous floral fabric. Kim - I have a bridge to sell you! Ricardo - passive agressive much?
Oscars, more important to a larger audience, Met Gala, High Fashion full of more Misses than Hits..love to see the pictures to get an idea what designers are doing, that's more cutting edge. I don't care, I love it..lol

ReplyDeleteoscars is first and foremost for film. fashion industry goes with it, but basically just on the red carpet. once inside, it becomes about film.
Celebs suck up to Designers at the Met & wear what they are told to, which makes for some funny ensembles at the Met. It more costumy than the Oscars.
