    1. Turkey is an amazing county VIP! I was in Istanbul two years ago and fell in love with it, can't wait to go back. It's a true example of what a secular Muslim country can be like...

  3. I wouldn't want to visit most countries of the Middle East.

    1. I guess you're not a fan of NYC

    2. Never been to NYC and I can't say that I have any plans to go. I might one day, just to say that I did (same way I feel about Vegas) and see some sights but it is pretty close to the bottom of my travel list. Pushing through crowds, power walking through cities, heat, smog and city smell are a few of my least favorite things.

  8. North Korea.

ps. Been to Turkey many times. It's a beautiful country. Some of the most pristine beaches in the world. Too bad all the bullshit going on over there taints it.

    1. Yeah, some of us are a little salty about the whole "denying the Armenian genocide" thing. But enjoy the beaches :)

  9. I'm with @Tara. Or anywhere women are considered possessions.

  10. any place where alcohol is outlawed

  12. Any country on which stories about women being arrested for 'illegal sex' for being raped seem to be a common occurence (i.e. Dubai, 1 and 2, the latter eventually pardoned), or being gay is illegal / a death sentence (take your pick). Generally, anywhere where women are third-class citizens and actual religious persecution is actively occurring (Sudan).

    Welp, he asked.

  13. @VIP: I believe they just recanted that recently. Erdogan (the PM) gave a speech not too long ago.

  14. i'm already in Canada, so would rather visit somewhere else given the choice

  15. Some of the African/Middle East countries where sharia law applies and/or human rights abuses against women take place and you can't go out on your own,,,and even with a partner you are not safe. Syria or Libya for example, Mali,,,,,No matter how much free luxury, I'd pass.

  16. I think I'd go pretty much anywhere if it was paid for. Signed, Travel Whore.

  17. India (again)
Was there for 2 weeks for business and couldn't wait to get out of that shit hole. Never been so glad to be back home and see grass and buildings not caving in and being glared at for no damn reason

  18. On board with middle eastern countries, and russia. Dont want to be treated badly, and russia's idea of luxury was pretty obvious last olympics, so i will pass.

    1. My friends parents went on a luxury tour of Russia and it was just as you suspected, ghetto beyond belief. A street was shut down so their broke down old ass tour bus could make its way past the sites without traffic though...

    1. Also France. Traveled there on business & you could not pay me enough to go back to Paris!

  22. I'm with @madeinbrzil on Nigeria. Crime, and a wholly corrupt government that will do nothing to protect you if you get into trouble - see the current situation with the kidnapped schoolgirls. Very crowded and with relatively few of the cultural treasures found elsewhere in West Africa, or the geographical beauties of Eastern and Southern Africa. No thanks.

If that's how you judge Russia, then NO ONE EVER SHOULD VISIT THE UK. Remember how they treated the Olympian's like crap during the 2012 games?

    1. @aemish, I quickly learned that they really do hate Americans. The people were crazy rude & the concierge in our luxury hotel was the worst of the bunch. Also, I am a bit overweight, and people were just fine with mocking me in public. Also, I brought my then- husband along & we went to a cabaret - which I imagined to be burlesque. Imagine my surprise! The last 3 days were spent in my hotel room watching movies. Also, I did not see one pregnant woman or child. It was creepy. The Louvre was nice, though - a rare bright spot.

    4. Agree TV Junkie, my sister Visited Paris with my mum a few years ago and they were pointing at her and mocking her for being overweight as well. Stuck up and arrogant.

  27. Any of the Muslim countries w/ the strict religious laws. If the lap of luxury doesn't have booze and loose women, I'd rather vacation at a Motel 6 in Mississippi.

  28. All of Asia-too crowded and most of it is too hot.
Any place in the Middle East-when I have to wear a hijab I get all "Nobdy puts Baby in a corner!".

    4. What you are going to do right this minute young lady is explain to me why you have posted an avi of BCoop being all golly-shucks as an illustration of my so called contentiousness.

    5. Won't open. Probably just more of your disgusting animal genitalia anyway.

You should see a shrink about that.

      Delete
    6. If you find Helena Bonham Carter to be "animal genitalia", you're wise to not open the link.

To my credit, I did not post a link to genitalia, animal or otherwise. You got two notices: NSFW and the link to the link. If you clicked on it, well, the one and only time I clicked on one of your links, I nearly fell out of my chair, so that's on you, my dear.

      Delete
    7. I'm sorry one of my links nearly made you fall out of your chair. To make it up to you, here's a carrot with a dick.

That being said, I'd love to be able to see Petra one day.

    1. A trip to India will change your life. The extreme poverty contrasted with the immense culture, art, history and natural beauty. Been 3 times. Just avoid drinking the water - buy bottled.

    2. Culture, art and history? I was in Mumbai and barely saw a green blade of grass. There was no beauty just smog and scary men. Oh and my colleague got so sick she ended up flying home after 3 days. It literally looked like an F5 Tornado hit and people said Whatever and just kept living in the squalor

  44. Canada really is, 0_0, no doot aboot it!

And I wouldn't go to India.

    ReplyDelete
  45. i love india. studied there for 5 weeks, didn't want to leave. still can't get enough of their delicious (vegetarian) food.

i have no desire to go to middle east/muslim countries. i really don't want to be looked down upon for being 1. a woman 2. american 3. enjoying a glass of wine 4. enjoying my partner. covering up my body is one thing... putting me in jail after being raped ("having sex") is abuse.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Honestly, I don't think there's anywhere I wouldn't go! Luxury accommodations all paid for - meet you at the airport. I know some places in the world are scary, but I want to see it anyway.

  47. One of my friends used to lead tours all over Mongolia, Russia and the like...she said all the 'Stan' countries she went were fantastic! Uzbekistan especially....

There's pretty much nowhere I would not go provided it was safe from war. I also have friends just back from Iran who said it was amazing...

  52. Greece? Paris?
I'm shocked! I LOVED Greece and would live there if I was half fish half goat. The climate is too tough for me.
Paris is beautiful at night, but my father's country is a bit of a pain.

  53. The U.S. within the next 10 years.

  54. BeckyMae - You hit on two I'd really like to see: Uzbekistan and Turkey. Istanbul especially, what I've seen on travel shows it's amazing.

My NO list is the same as you guys' - North Korea, places that treat women and gay people horribly. A lot of these countries I'd love to see, but not until they quit their evil ways.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Anonymous8:22 PM

jeez I need to read more. I don't know what countries to avoid. I wanna say Iran, but I don't know why. :^(

  56. Use the Google machine and look up CIA World Factbook it provides all kinds of information about every country. Whether it's for a book report or if you're thinking about taking a trip it'll answer your questions. Prior to booking a trip, check online with the Department of State for travel advisory updates.

Oh. I need to check the status of Canada. We're going up there in June. Gotta make sure they aren't on the brink of boycotting Tim Horton's that would be nothing but peaceful riots and grandma mayhem all over every small town and city until 4:00pm every day, except Sundays. Closed.
