Your Turn

When you take vacation from work, how often do you just stay home instead of traveling?

  1. That's what you call a 'staycation'.
Pretty often. No airline hassle, check out things around town that I've wanted to and save $.

    3. I have one of those waffle makers where you flip the waffles over after you put in the batter. It makes two Belgium waffles at once. It's awesome.

  6. Maybe once a year or so Mr V takes the jrs down to London for a couple of days, I take the same days off work and stay at home. On my own. In peace. That is quite honestly the best holiday ever. And then I miss them and am happy to have them back .

  7. I'm always going somewhere for vacation...but I will say, going on vacation is absolutely exhausting, and you never feel like you were on a break. When you stay home and do nothing, you feel like you're able to relax and enjoy the time off.

  8. RARELY, I always go somewhere, off to San Juan tomorrow for Memorial weekend just so happens.

  9. Hawaii would be amazing though Lady H. Although I would probably burn to a crisp. Hope your skin is a less delicate shade of pale than mine.

  12. I live for road trips. Just love driving somewhere far away, stay a little while if I have to, then drive back a different way. Once in a while on a long weekend I'll fly somewhere a thousand or more miles away and pick up a prearranged rental and pound it back home.

  13. Halfterm time is just around the corner so I'm just heading back home to see the family. This is my first proper summer as a teacher so Ibiza here I (hopefully) come!

  14. I take vacations to concerts. But since I work from home in my yoga pants everyday is a staycation. Cue the umbrella drinks!

  15. You're going to LOVE Hawaii. Which Island are you going to? I've been to Maui, Oahu, Hawaii and Kauai.

  16. I can't remember the last time I traveled somewhere for my vacation time (that didn't involve a family crisis, anyway).

  17. Hawaii is amazing. I've been lucky to have gone once. The Big Island.

  18. Never stay home. I work for an airline so free travel is part of my benefit package. We do lots of 3 day short vacations though. Its funny coming in on Monday hearing someone say How was Prague? Gotta love the travel business

    1. Yup. My friend and her hubby are teachers out there-apparently she's met the male model who inspired the creation of the Zoolander character lol. So free accommodation during peak season. Nice.

  21. Vacation has been two weeks in July at a beach house in San Diego for the last 7 years.

I sometimes take time off during the holidays and that's used for shopping in Palm Desert or San Diego.

When my kids were young, I stayed home, but not so much anymore.

  22. Thanks to Obama and Obamacare, I can't afford a vacation. My hours have been cut and now have to worry about how I am going to pay for my health insurance.

  25. Lady H - how come my private photos are all over the web?

  26. Never. We always travel for our vacations, and preferably over a long distance. In order to truly get away, we need to get away.

  27. Prob half and half. Sometimes broke and sometimes just plain tired.

  28. Since we bought a house (Blanc Debris) we've never gone on vacation. Or not one I recall.

    Have fun in HI LadyH!

  29. I'm self-employed, so IF I take a vaction, it's to go somewhere. I am going to take a week off this summer, but otherwise the last time was a week three years ago. It's not so bad, though. I work from home so I get to be with my kids all summer...wait, uh...
