Yes! Do watch The Wire. You might need subtitles sometimes and it is violent but so very, very good. Watch the Goats movie when this series gets too intense.
Orphan Black or Vampire Diaries (Its so freakin stupid and my guilty pleasure of dumb drama!) You will never believe how many deaths one can withstand!!
Parks & Rec Louie Freaks & Geeks Undeclared (I just binge watched this, and really enjoyed it. I tried to get into it about 8 yrs ago and couldn't. Tons of people you'll recognize--I forgot Charlie Hunnam was in it! And a great soundtrack.)
The Wire - recently finished that one. Too real scenery in and around Baltimore. Societal decay story. Timeless.
Six Feet Under - psycho drama/comedy. Something like psychopath hooks up with malignant narcissist who has a bi-polar brother. More comedy than actual human destruction.
Watching Breaking Bad now. Heisenberg!!!!! First 2 seasons were great comedy. More drama to season 3. Comedy ensues towards the end of season 4, thank goodness.
Already mentioned above by @flirtychick74, but, any Investigation Discovery show. Disappeared, the one about the evil couples... I have spent many an afternoon letting one episode roll into the next on Netflix. The intro with that whispery "Investigate..." gives me the shudders just to think about!
I love some Discovery ID! An episode of Sins and Secrets, "A Hunting In Boone", was about a murder that happened in the college town I was living in. I can also lose hours and hours thinking "just one more"....
I am in the midst of an Arrested Development binge right now. I highly recommend it. Others I have binged on with great success: Dr Who, Game of Thrones, The Mentalist, House of Lies, Scandal, Green Wing, Firefly, Graceland. To name a few.
Take it from a binge pro: watch something that has ended. Otherwise you'll eventually catch up with the TV, and having to wait an entire week for the next episode is true torture when you've just watched three seasons in a row.
Green Wing is some DANG FUNNY STUFF. When I grow up I ASPIRE to be Sue White...also noteworthy, and all British...Life on Mars, Shameless (the UK version), Wire in the Blood, Black Books, Spaced, Hyperdrive...
Scandal Downton Abby The Originals Drop a Dead Diva Once Upon A Time Revenge Parenthood (although if you're not watching regularly it probably isn't for you) Veep
Veep and Vikings. Vikings is crushing it - Its like one hour long History channel battle sequences but with much higher drama and Veep is just plain out f'n hilarious.
I just started Boardwalk Empire that show is freaking awesome, but I know you have already watched that.
My cousin said Rome is good.
Game of Thrones Fargo-Billy Bob Thornton is great! The Bridge was good Masters of Sex is excellent(Allison Janney) Scandal is amazing Southern Charm surprisingly good (reality)
oh yeah, I can't believe i forgot to mention Million Dollar Listing NY?!?!?!? I could watch those guys out douche each other for hours. Which I did last weekend. It was awesome. Fredrik is a star!
Recently I've enjoyed binging on Frasier Chrisleys Sex in the City Four Weddings Rich Kids Beverly Hills Flipping Out I need to do THE SOPRANOS- I've never seen it before. Lol. Only saw 2 Breaking Bads. Argh- I have work to do. The Sons of Ana
Night Court- watch the subtle nuances of growth Dan Fielding does as the series progresses and also watch as Markie Post goes from cute to "Oh my God I want to hit that so bad" (Maybe that was because I started puberty during the later seasons)
I'll once again recommend Spin City if for no other reason than to see what Jennifer Garner, Stephen Colbert, Alyssa Milano, Connie Britton and Justin Theroux looked like 16 years ago.
It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is good. I just started watching it recently, and it's really funny. Especially the episodes with Danny DeVito in them.
Puberty Blues....this was a famous Aussie movie set in 1970's Sydney remade into a fantastic, high quality TV show. The first season stays true to the book and the second is a continuation of what might have been. It's a great snap shot of life then with a teen storyline alongside adult ines. It's styled brilliantly, the costumes and sets are spot in for that 1979-1981 feel. Much binge drinking and bong smoking too, lol
Breaking Bad is made for binge watching. The Sopranos and The Wire, of course. Game of Thrones. The Americans is a great show, but only in the second season, so if you did binge, it would be over quickly.
Guilty pleasure: Dallas (the original series).
One to avoid: Mad Men. I can handle one episode at a time, max.
The Killing! Although, be warned: the second season drags significantly more than the first. Oh, or GOT of course although I pretty much assume-incorrectly-that everyone has already seen it at this point :)
Game of Thrones The Walking Dead The Office-BBC version The Returned Breaking Bad Six Feet Under Boardwalk Empire Downton Abbey True Blood ( first few seasons) Orange is the New Black And I want to start House of Cards, The Wire and Battlestar Galactica
Sex and The City LOST The Bridge Homeland Dexter Breaking Bad The Walking Dead Freaks and Geeks Arrested Development True Blood (Seasons 1-2) Strangers With Candy Moonlighting (So good if you've never seen it I highly recommend it)
Rescue Me - Denis Leary series about NYC firefighters post-9/11. How can you not love a series that has a black, gay, horse whispering little person and Jesus driving a yellow Lamborghini with a bumper sticker that says "Now you know what I drive".
Agree w/The Vikings suggestion - second season finale aired last night - this series has turned into one of my favs - they really killed it.
Here's something to drool over - Travis Fimmel (Ragnar Lothbrook) when he was a Calvin Klein model: http://www.google.com/images?q=travis+fimmel+calvin+klein&hl=en&gbv=2&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ei=CERkU9D_MMzyoATngYLgBQ&ved=0CBsQsAQ
I LOVED Rescue Me, but didn't watch the last 3 episodes for 2 years because I didn't want it to be over, and because I was given an incorrect spoiler. I know I'll watch the whole thing again at some point.
House of Cards. the Wire. You won't have time to watch anything else for awhile. If you are ambitious watch the BBC house of cards from about 30 years ago. The KILLING from AMC. under promoted, lost and found by network and netflix. but wonderfully acted.
I've been binging on Dexter, but am stuck in season 7 waiting for my viewing buddy to catch up. I'm also binging hard on Deadliest Catch. A little hotness and testosterone on the Bering Sea, yum!
Next will be Breaking Bad and the Sopranos. I'd forgotten about Six Feet Under, so now I'll have an excuse to spend more time with Michael C Hall
Does anyone else have Amazon Prime? I found out that there are some almost-forgotten gems stashed out there. "Hey, Paula" anyone? They aren't free, but a season costs about $15.
Lots of BBC. Torchwood. State of Play (much better developed characters than the movie), Above Suspicion (Ciaran Hinds and Kelly Reilly), Whitechapel (wonderful Rupert Penry Jones), Ashes to Ashes. I also binge on Tales of the ER (where else would you hear about a bullet embolus?!).
Ripper Street, with Matthew Macfayden and Jerome Flynn. If you haven't, lucky dog, you can watch season one and season two. Wish I could start it all over again. Excellent. So well written. Some of it hard to watch for me, but watch I do. Just finished Season Two. Luther, on Netflix. Vikings on the History Channel, season one and two. Watch Jekyll on Netflix. A little scary, but SOOOOOO good. I am next going to catch up with Turn on AMC. That should keep you going for a while. I think I may be an inadvertent Irish Anglophile. Such good writing and acting. But anyway, start with Ripper Street. Please let us know what you decided to watch and how you liked it. Just interested.
If you liked The Sopranos, try Lilyhammer on Netflix. Stars Steven van Zandt as a mobster {same hairpiece as Sopranos} in witness protection in Lillyhamer, Norway. First two seasons are 7 or 8 episodes each.
Since virtually every one has already seen Breaking Bad, I´d go for the awesomeness that is Justified. And I´d top it all with some Flight of the Conchords and I´m Alan Partridge. Happy binge watching anyway:)!
