Tony The Tiger Voice Actor Dies

 Actor Lee Marshall, who gave Tony the Tiger his grrreat purr, has died. He was 64.

  2. :( Tony the Tiger was always my favorite cereal mascot. I met him once when I was little, too! (Not the voiceover guy--just some dude in a costume).

  8. He died a week ago I always knew he did wrestling had no idea until he died he did Tony the Tiger.

  10. The original voice, and actually the one for a really long time was singer Thurl Ravenscroft. He himself can up with the GRRRRRREAT! part of the line. Originally it was just "Frosted Flakes... They're Good!" but he told the producer and demonstrated that a Tiger would be better Grrrrrreat!

    I remember seeing him on Geraldo's old syndicated show in the 90s. He had a couple of episodes where he had a lot of great cartoon voices on.

  11. Huh??? Thurl Ravenscroft is the voice of Tony the Tiger- and it is well known! Who is this Lee guy- maybe his family would have liked to think he was Tony the Tiger- but its Thurl. Look it up... sorry.
