The Dream Beat His Pregnant Girlfriend

I have held off for a couple of days to dig a little deeper into the arrest of The Dream for beating his then pregnant girlfriend because I wanted to know more about what happened. His girlfriend, Lydia Nam claims that seven months ago The Dream punched her and kicked her and strangled her during a fight when she was pregnant. That is disgusting behavior. The Dream says that Lydia made it all up because she wants to stay in the country and if you are a victim of a beating there is an exception which allows you to remain while your case is making its way through the court system. Lydia says she waited so long to file the charges because she feared for her safety. When I saw the TMZ photos of her body they look like the photos of someone who was beat. Look at those bruises and scratches. To me it is consistent with her claim that Dream pulled and dragged her by her hair, choked her with a necklace she was wearing by twisting it tightly around her neck, kicked and punched her in the head and then grabbed her by the neck, pinning her to the wall and choking her again. He then twisted her arm. To beat a woman who is pregnant is horrific and I hope he gets some serious jail time.

    1. Ass. Do not pass Go on this...----> jail!
Since All phones have cameras and everyone has a phone, hopefully that can be a deterrent to abusive men and women. Nothing like getting immediate evidence to support the criminal/civil suit...:-\

    2. He's always been a freaking douche. If golddigging, at least learn your target's tendencies. He was at one point a superproducer, working with many top acts including Beyonce, I am guessing that's over now. The fall is hard and the thirst is real.

    3. Phones aren't going to deter abusers who tend to take them when they are in a rage. We now have to ask all clients if they have been the victim of family violence now and the rate is running about 25-30% across all ethnic lines. That's way too high.

  5. I must live under a rock because this is the first I'm ever hearing of these people? The Dream? WTF kind of name is that? Who are these people? What do they do? Are they important (saving lives, changing the world)?

I feel bad for the woman - no woman should endure beatings, ever.... but I still have no idea who are these people and why should we care more about them than all the other battered women in the world?

  6. Boy, he does sound like a dream.

She said she was terrified of him because he said he was going to beat and kill her like OJ did Nicole. Thing is, if she's that afraid, why not go back to her home country? It's CANADA, not some place where you have to wear a full burqa!

The DM article says he's an R&B singer and pop producer, and he's the guy who wrote All The Single Ladies.

    1. He started off as a R&B producer & worked with several artists including Mariah. He was married & left his wife for Christina Milian. They had a child together but then broke up.

  10. Isn't he the guy hanging with Khloe K?

Also, just because the crime is a terrible one, doesn't mean it happened. I find it odd that she had the presence of mind to take pictures, but didn't call the police if she was so scared.

Further, did she continue to live with him?

May be true, maybe not. But I hesitate to assume guilt solely upon how awful it is if true.

  19. Sad statistic: women are most at risk of domestic violence during pregnancy.

    1. That had to be true because men don't get pregnant.
All jokes aside I can see how that can be true because bullies prey on weakness and pregnant women are very vulnerable. If this is true I hope he pays the price.

  22. This girl is shady as heck- they did a brief write up on her ex and his family here in toronto and her ex was a drug dealer who got busted in a pretty spectacular way. What little they said about her, I imagine she's looking for a pay out- not to say the Dream isn't garbage but I'm thinking she should probably just come back to Canada.

  24. thanks @greengrl, even tho this is a actors/celebrities blog, there apparently arent a lot of music fans here for the r&b/pop/hip hop/top 40 community. dream has an impressive resume and had lots of hits in the past decade.

it makes me sad to see this, but i wonder what the fight leading up to this was about. there is no reason to hit anyone ever, but who knows what she is getting into...

  27. He clearly has gay face but keeps producing all these kids, which I'll bet are all girls. He's another downlow R&B singer..Real men don't sing imo so i'm not shocked he beat up a women. Come out of the closet it will ease your anger.
