I loved Scrubs, but have no happy feelings toward Zach Braff. He's also on the Reddit "10 Actors Who Are Total Jerks On Set, According To Reddit" list, along with Alec, Chia (typo and it stays), Evan Rachel Wood, Buffy and her one true love Angel, etc.

ReplyDeleteThe dark hair dye on NPH for Hedwig is aging him. Or maybe his age is just finally catching up with him. He's looked so strange the last few months since he moved to NYC. Maybe he lost too much weight for the role.
If that is how they are dressing Bradley Cooper for his role as a Navy SEAL that is jacked up wrong. Those SpecOp guys are THE hottest men on the planet and even in their casual attire they may be an Oakie from Muskokie but they don't look like that!

He can't come out, otherwise it would jeopardize his romantic-lead bank-ability, which is kind of sad in this day and age. He's definitely beefed up for his latest role, and the guys are going wild for him on Datalounge. He is well on his way to being a gay icon.
Again, nothing wrong with that. Matt Bomer is out and still adored by both men and women alike.
Naya is pure skin and bones anymore.

ReplyDeleteExactly Kassandra! NPH and Kevin Spacey (Jane Lynch) are excellent examples of a great 'out' actors that can captivate an audience with their talent. They are actors. That's their profession is to have the character relate to the audience so convincingly that we forget we are watching a role be played out before us. If an actor can't get past him/herself, then why are they in that line of work? Think of all the natural undiscovered talent that we'll never know about because Hollywood "creates" and forces crap actors onto the public. (I'm glaring at you Julia Roberts!)

DeleteYes - that is the point of their profession, right? To play a make believe role.
ReplyDeleteThe ability to meld to the character of any given role, no matter what the scope and content, makes for a great actor. It's why we should be giving awards.
We can look to past screen idols/legends on this point. Not out, but kind of obvious. (Tyrone, Gene, Rock and so many others). I can introduce other A-list actors, but most of them don't associate themselves as "out." Tom Hanks, William Hurt, Cherlize Theron, Michelle Rodriguez and Matthew McConaughey have also portrayed characters that are far departed from their real-life personas. There are many more i'm not referencing.
However, despite the fact that very good actors are able to deflect wide-spread rumors and still thrive, the majority of bi/spectrum actors/actresses still have to overcome a major obstacle:
1) Suspension of disbelief, and
2) ability to appeal to a majority of the audience.
I hope we can normalize and assimilate this facet of our sexuality as a culture. I admit to finding straight/by/gay actors (within my spectrum/criteria as I perceive) hot.
Naya needs to stop doing whatever she is doing to herself. I used to think she was so hot, now she's just another generic plastic surgeried cokey looking chick.
