A vacation doesn't really begin until the first drink in an airport bar.

  5. Dont drink and certainly not overpaying for bland airport drinks ! Lets get on a new topic, which is what should I have for lunch? Keep in mind it will prob serve as dinner yoo. Oh, and i cant eat fruit, veggies, dairy or hi fat foods. Pretty bad digestive issues. Okay, lets hear it!!

    2. Nibbled on the last of my awesome tuna salad. Only one serving of the lemon asparagus and fiddle fern risotto leftover from last nights meal was claimed by the roommate.

  6. Enty is probably an 18 yr old girl about to head off on her 1st overseas visit to the Netherlands. I hope she enjoys her 1st beer.

  7. Wrong. The doobie on the drive to the airport or before putting your helmet on and starting the motorcycle.

  8. @liddy My acid flared up and I had a hard time with what to eat. I ended up with Progresso chicken and rice soup and a light blueberry yogurt.

  9. Wow auntliddy. Sounds like it's rice cakes and tofu for you. With a side of chicken.

  10. False. Cause I have my first vacation drink the second I can find one after work ends.

  12. Who waits until they get to tbe airport?
Although, if flying, I always feel like it begins once I get to airport and am ready to board....the bar;weather it's the bar in the sky or pre-sky.

  13. The day I turned 21, I was in an airport and decided that celebrating 21 meant a bar visit.

So much anticipation for so much disappointment. The only bars I've been to since are the ones that you get to sit in when the rest of the restaurant is full.

But I still maintain a place in my heart for this bar and bouncer.

  14. Vacation doesn't officially start until the luggage is dumped in the room and you're sitting at the hotel bar.

  17. TTM - you can get a beer in a pub at 8am round here. It's a very salubrious area. Maybe the plane staff thought you looked like you might cause trouble.

  19. @TTM, the booze laws are so weird. I was visiting a friend in another state and we were planning to make champagne cupcakes for a wedding shower the next day. Got up early and I made a store run for ingredients. The checker at the grocery store (who looked all of 17) informed me that they couldn't sell me the 2 bottles of Brut extra-dry until 7AM. I went Starbucks and came back once my 15-minute shopping ban had been lifted.

The cupcakes were pretty freaking awesome, though.

    1. Seven, you must have been in the south. At TGIFridays we couldn't serve alcohol until 1PM on Sunday brunch. Used to tell the out of towners it was because the Baptists didn't get out of church until then and no one gets a jump on drinking before them.

  20. I even brought up the fact that it was 9 in Toronto, but nooooooo! I never cause trouble when drinking, Violet, I'm a lover, not a fighter.

  21. I'm not sure of the point of this blind, my vacation always starts with a drink in the airport bar,,,I thought everyone's did? I'm quite serious,,,

  22. Personally, I love airport bars and hotel bars. You usually have a good reason to drink at, otherwise, inappropriate hours and the people watching can't be beat.

  23. It's not a vacation till I've had a drink in the airline lounge! Plus it's free....yay!!!

  24. Screw that. Did anyone catch the season finale of The Americans? I want to know how Nina is going to survive this!

    1. Sea, i still smell a rat. Like that guy nina slept with is doubke agent. Anyway, he gave her a load of money, remember? She cld go to airport , ask to use ladies room, and disappear. Thats what i think will happen. I didnt think stan cld go thru with it anyway. The questions about involving the kids are great!

  25. Liquor laws are so stupid. Here in Minnesota, you can't buy booze in grocery stores (other than 3.2 beer) or on Sundays. (Yet assholes can get wasted at Vikings games. Such idiocy.)

  26. My vacation begins once the plane has gently touched down onto the runway, and I've unclenched those parts of my body that were clenched during the excruciatingly long and terror-inducing hours of the flight.

My vacation doesn't truly begin until I have successfully retrieved my carry-on luggage from the overhead compartment, disembarked down the causeway without falling on my ass, and am confidently strutting through the airport with carry-on bag slung over my right shoulder.

  27. @Seachica I love the Americans. One of the best shows lately. I doubt Nina will survive, and I can't wait to see how they handle Paige's recruitment (how awkward will THAT be-although, things are awkward enough now; that scene with Phillip, Elizabeth and Paige sitting at the picnic table, while Henry was running around flying a kite spoke volumes).

  28. My vacation begins with a celebratory drink before the taxi arrives. And another one at the airport or on the plane (although I prefer the airport as the drinks on the plane are awful).

  29. Tell that to Gregg Jarrett Enty!
