NeNe Leakes Leaving Real Housewives

Apparently NeNe Leakes thinks she can make a living without having Real Housewives as her backup plan. The original Atlanta cast member has probably done better for herself than any other Real Housewife. Bethenny Frankel has done very well for herself too, but she had some things in place prior to RHNY and had appeared on reality television before RHNY. In any event, NeNe has appeared in several network shows and implied yesterday on her Twitter that she will not be returning to the show that made her famous. I don't really agree with her decision. See, being on the show might not pay a ton of money but it keeps you in the public eye for three months straight every season. That allows you to pick up money via appearances and also makes you more viable for other shows. Several Housewives have quit thinking they could make more money elsewhere. That is very rare.

    @sugarbread maker she definitely pissed Andy off at the reunion! She also burned her bridge with Cynthia, her only friend on the show, so now she has nobody to film with probably. Good riddance, she'll be going into bankruptcy by the years end!

    Eh. Delision is as delusion does. This is also the same woman who very much PUBLICLY announced her plastic surgery several years ago via an article and interviews (nose job, Brest lift & implants, veneers and I believe some chin work as well), then proceeded to flat out deny ever having had ANY facial plastic surgery to Bethenny when she was on her show this year leaving poor Bethenny (and everyone else) visibly scratching our heads. NeNe is a real piece of work.

    Nene is the highest paid hw ever from Bravo. If she didn't renew she's stoopid. They start at $2000 per episode the first season, so first season she made like $20,000 and three years later she was making $500k then $750,000 at least the last two years. She can only "walk" if they fired her. Otherwise, they have her in a noncompete. Bravo has to approve ALL of her appearances..even interviews. Trust.

    Derek, does she really? That's such a stupid move. She's gonna lose her ass in that one. Brandi G's line quietly disappeared didn't it? Did Sonja ever bring her toaster oven or book to the market? If you are on a reality show ever...note this, bring or find a product to sell that fans will buy. By season two of any show, the smart ones with good AGENTS will know what character they have to be and also sell or promote something. That's the only way to benefit from the fame. Otherwise, you've sold your soul for nothing.

    I think there needs to be a maximum 3 year term for housewives. If they are on more than 3 years they really become too spoiled and annoying.
    I stopped watching Atlanta last year--they need a total re-cast and a fresh crowd of women.
    Nene has a lot of hustle, and I think she will keep making money somehow.

    Nene is currently making $1M a season....and she's NOT worth a penny of it. There is nothing entertaining about her. Her ego is her downfall. She is jealous of Kenya and this is her power play. I hope Bravo doesn't fall for it. Get rid of eye-rolling, head shaking, "Jesus save us" Phaedra...oh and throw in criminal. Any of them who think it was okay for Porscha to lay hands on Kenya, or anyone for that matter, should be fired. Nene came close twice to hitting Kim, and Phaedra threatened to hit Kenya. Off with their heads!

    Fellow CDANers, I know we all have our reasons for coming to this site and everyone's appetite and interests are different. But I would really like to know who cares about this woman? I'm not criticizing, just interested. I've never seen any of the Real Housewives shows but based on what I've read here and elsewhere they all seem like such awful people. Why does anyone care what they do. Thank you for indulging me.

    I limit my trash TV consumption to the Real Housewives of Bev Hills, Real Housewives of Jersey. I tried with Mob Wives and it just lost me. I don't know why I care. At the end of the day I need something mindless to watch. And well, this is it.

    I think it's fascinating that regular people throw themselves out there and go on this mess. It's so voyeuristic and meddling. And then the show just ends up tearing real friendships and families apart. At least that's how it seems on Jersey and Bev Hills. They all get jealous of one another.

    Now, you can't even get me near that Teen Mom bullshit or the Bachelor. That's where I draw a line.

    For those who asked about Andy, she had a very bad attitude & was full of sarcasm throughout the reunion especially when asked about some of her negative behavior this season. What really upset him was when he mentioned that several of the fans were mad that NeNe called Kenya's friend Brandon a queen. She refused to believe it then Andy said that he was upset about it. She was being very dismissive & joking about it with her husband- how you doing Greg ;) even saying something along the lines of "should I throw them a parade? "

That being said, I watch every wife show there is - mob wives, basketball wives, ex-wives, real housewives (did I forget anybody?) and I am loud and proud about it!!! Takes away from the stressfulness of my day to day

    I haven't watched much RHOA since two seasons ago. I got bored. I can't say too much ...but the last comment from me on how this entire contract works is this: Andy doesn't hire or fire anyone. He actually never has. Does he have strong opinions? Probably, but there are 24 hours in a day that Bravo has to program. He doesn't normally meet the newbies until promo time and then on his show. Nene may be holding out for more money, but they won't fire her for her actions toward Andy. This is about $$ only. Idk anything about the ratings from the past two seasons so idk if she's worth it or not. Just bc the mass of social media doesn't like a hw doesn't mean they aren't a huge asset to the show..jill z was fired bc of fans, but it has suffered ever since. Casting calls are for big personalities only. They don't want conservative ladylike housewives. The respective production companies have more say than you know. There are 3? Different production houses for the series so your tweets may just be words unread...much like this comment! Or some of the crazier posts about balloon knots and such.

    This was in the rumor mill for a while. Don't believe she'd walk away from that salary, even if she didn't get an increase. Everyone has said what a sourpuss she was this season and she's so above everyone and looked miserable to be there as though she's Meryl Streep on reality tv. She's a fool, and a fool and her money are soon parted. She will not get Bethenny money from selling something likely and she will regret it I will miss her on the show because she was my favorite. Watch it religiously. They need to bring back Sheree and Kim and definitely up Marlo's time on air. It'll still be good. Cynthia needs to go now that Nene is gone- she's boring. Phaedra and Kenya will bring drama with Apollo in the bighouse. Nene should get a better attitude and stay.

    LOL. Just read CityGirl, and I hear ya, sister! Me, too. I watch it all, too, and it is a great guilty pleasure. Not everything needs to be Shakespeare or the blood and guts on so many shows that are unwatchable or the real news, which is more depressing than any show out there.
