Katie Couric In talks To Return To "Today"

Savannath Guthrie might want to take the shortest maternity break ever taken by a woman. Like she might want to have a baby Friday afternoon and be back at her co-host spot by Monday morning fast. According to The NY Post, Katie Couric is in talks to replace Guthrie while Guthrie is on maternity leave. Savannah probably thinks she doesn't have anything to worry about, but Deborah Norville thought the same thing. And what happened to Deborah Norville? Producers say this would just be a temporary thing and it would probably give Today a ratings boost. What if that ratings boost gets them past Good Morning America? Are the producers going to say goodbye to Katie and hope they can keep the lead when Savannah returns or are they going to try and get Katie to come back full-time?

  2. I'm glad Katie Couric is getting back to her roots. It's hard to take someone who smiles that much and that widely seriously for hard news. As a fellow perky oversmiler I feel bad for saying that, but there it is. Mazel tov!

  4. There may be a ratings boost at first to see the interaction between her & Matt, but she doesn't have fans, as her failed talk show & no that she will be online proves.

  5. Jessica is right. Isn't that odd? She's like ok but no one really loves loves loves her. Huh. Anyway I thought she was getting married? Mb take some time off? And what about her blog/ internet gig?

  8. I don't think they can get rid of Matt. His head is too big to get through the door marked "EXIT".

  9. The lovers can finally reunite!

Man, talk about coming home with your tail between your legs. Does anyone remember who over-the-top send off? It was like a week of goodbyes and celebrity appearances. Then she goes off and bombs TWICE at CBS and ABC. Now she is regulated to the Internet, which she didn't even understand back when she was hosting Today with Bryant Gumball.

Couric is still better than all the yawns on Today now, which is REALLY sad.

  12. I hate Matt Lauer. Completely stopped watching "Today" when he gave Ann the shaft. I'll stick with CBS.... Katie or no Katie.

  13. Who cares? 'Shrug'

All those morning shows, late night shows are repetitious, boring and lame which is I don't watch any of them.

  14. Katie must be a famewhore. So desperate to stay onscreen that she would slink back to Today??

  21. They don't get it do they? Katie tanks every show she's on. She is unrelatable and hasn't been "sweet little Katie" in decades. Same with Dame Matt. And oh Hell NO to Savannah Guthrie. I can't believe she has a law degree. She comes off as Matt's dumb, ugly, morning mattress.

Ann Curry flubbed up a lot, but she put her heart and soul into her stories and the people that she interviewed. Bring her back!

I stopped watching when Katie was snooting up the Today Show and I had just started watching again shortly before they gave Ann the unceremonious heave hoe. Then I switched to GMA and that show is just to ADHD for me. So I don't watch any of them now. I was sad to hear that Sam (the weatherman) had left. He'd make the Weather Channel worth watching!

  22. Pit sucks how this society punishes women for having children . Let the woman have her child, go on proper leave and come back to her job. Geez.
