In an attempt to get people talking about something other than the elevator fight video, Solange and Jay-Z released a statement yesterday about the incident.
"As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family. The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day families have problems and we're no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same."
I'm not sure they needed to release a statement. In a 24 hour news cycle, it is already being pushed out by other events and with no audio there is nothing really to do but speculate and after several days of that, is there anything left to say? Well, apparently Beyonce didn't need to say anything because her name is not in the statement. I know she wasn't directly involved in the fight, but I would think that her name would at least be mentioned.
Jay Z looked bad so he's trying to resurrect himself back to bad ass status.
ReplyDeleteNo more. My interest has waned.
ReplyDelete!morning sandy, when is Solange releasing her album? Gotta keep the spirit alive if they're going to profit from seeing her name in print that's not the Worst Dressed list. :-D
ReplyDeleteMorning Vi :-D
ReplyDeleteSandy, jayzee looked like a B in that video to his leeches, I mean boys. Why keep it going? Self restraint is not prized, anymore. :-\
morning steamy. I think something from her is due in the next couple of months.
ReplyDeleteWhen fifty cent mocked the video it must have made Jay mad. Queens and Brooklyn thugz must be laughing too.
ReplyDeleteSolange sings too? She needs a proper job.
ReplyDeleteShe has a solid hipster following. Her voice is like Bey's but goes for a completely different sound.
DeleteGood morning all! Nice to see you Steamy, good afternoon, Violet, how's the far ahead timezone, sandy?
ReplyDeleteYes, all families have violent elevator altercations. It's the new normal!! Violence is the new normal family value. Nothing to see here.
ReplyDeletesolange in better days
ReplyDeleteHyperlink fail! Again, with the failure! :-*
Deletemorning TTM cloudy outside and renovating my building outside too so very, very noisy today. But not as bad s yesterdy when they were knocking down MY patio walls.
ReplyDeleteI saw a video with Bewulf from WAY back and you can see all the plastic surgery she has had done. New nose, teeth, and boobs.
ReplyDeletemaybe she just hasnt had "better days" Steamy :))
ReplyDeleteGood morning, All. Frost on the windshield this morn. Yaaaaay
ReplyDeleteI'm over it too next
ReplyDeleteWhen I get my computer back, I'm going to tear hyperlink up!
ReplyDeleteDangit!
Pouring in Va. :-) good morning TTM. Struggling to hyperlink :-\ at least I have blue!
ReplyDeleteThat " statement " says dick. Dont know why they even bothered. Now a better statement wld to the effect elevators are to jayz as kryptonite is to superman, once he is in there he loses strength. Solonge's powers are increased by the elevator, and once in there, she is unstoppable. So when she attacked jayz, he was powerless. Beyonce was cowed and frightened as she has NO powers off stage. Now THATS a statement!!
ReplyDeleteThank God! Now we can move on to something else!
ReplyDeleteConstruction no es bueno, sandy! And I can't hyperlink either, Steamy, so no harm no foul as far as I am concerned. Except that I used to teach people how to do it back when I was a productive member of society. Sad horns. Frost on the windshield is NOT OKAY, Charlie!!
ReplyDeleteAs for the statement, the thing that stands out for me is the bit about Solange's erratic behaviour, etc. Even in refuting, mentioning it specifically means that is what will stick in mind. Which is probably the point.
here is the manual format

one more more time
ReplyDeletewhat the hell is going on with the linking? it's friday!
ReplyDelete[rarely do i post but i have to say as far as internet relationships go, i think you all are my best friends! i love reading your stuff every day!]
[kidding, kind of. only because that sounds more creepy than funny]
I bet Queen Bey is the one who insisted for this statement to be released. Her name is not on it and that s the point she wanted to make.
ReplyDeleteI have a giggling vision of the family meeting: the former drug dealer turned mogul, the A list diva with the IQ of a lantern and an ego the size of Alaska, and the angry sister talk things through, reconcile and say "we shall move forward as a united family"
pure attention whores
ReplyDeleteBull.
ReplyDeleteYou have to love how "Jay and Solange both assume responsibility" when all the video shows is J getting a beat down from his drunk sister-in-law. Responsibility for what? Setting the stage for the end of contract divorce?
ReplyDeleteSeven - when dealing with crazy sometimes the noncrazy has to go along to keep the crazy calm. Problem with that strategy is that it doesn't matter - the crazy one will explode sooner or later no matter what happens now.
DeleteYou really thought that she was drunk, @Seven? Even though she was lunging to get him, she didn't didn't fall or wobble or anything.
Deleteshould have said this on day one
ReplyDeletebut why does anyone care?
I am beginning to miss the intro Lindsay story every morning...Still better than Tori and Dean I guess...
ReplyDeleteOh hells yes, Derek. ANYTHING is better than Tori and Dean.
ReplyDeleteDidn't we all see this coming? I mean better than JayZ did right?
Awww..Penelope jane..that was sweet. You shouldn't be so shy and post more.
Morning all. Sorry to hear about the frost Charlie. We're cooling down after a major heatwave here in San Francisco. And Punk I'm getting pictures from family in G'boro, NC with hail the size of golf balls. Please send us rain!
If I had hair I'd get it cut like the tall guy between JZ and Solange (Bey's daughter).
ReplyDeletei cant see them the same
ReplyDeleteall fake
These people are sooooo important to the world
ReplyDelete"Setting the stage for the end of contract divorce?"
ReplyDeleteYou know @7, that thought did pop into my mind.
I'm still shocked that the video didn't get yanked down. One of them wanted it out.
Should've said this right away. It's almost a dead story now.
ReplyDeleteJoElla, once hat video was out, it was out. There are no grounds to pull it, and plenty of others copy and repost vids.
I find it odd Jay is mentioned as one of the bad guys in this statement, because people were mostly mad Solange was acting cray. They were wondering what Jay's part in it was and now the statement basically says Jay did something shitty (DUH). I assumed they would have just thrown Solange under the bus. Guess Bey and Jay aren't so happy and Bey won't throw Sol under the bus so they let Jay take part of the blame.
ReplyDeleteI think that it's a good statement - makes it into a 'little family spat' that is done. They protect their image by stating Solange wasn't drunk (which I believe), make it clear that it's over, and push attention again onto the (undisputed) invasion of their privacy. In terms of being a shut-down statement, it's good. And because of the way this has been going, I agree that they did need to release something. The flak rule is that one should say nothing after an incident, but the trick is in knowing when to break that rule.
ReplyDeleteThe statement did what it was designed to do - shut the story down.
