Fox News Anchor Busted For Being Drunk At Airport
Fox News anchor Gregg Jarrett recently asked Fox for some time off from work for personal reasons. I'm guessing those reasons might have something to do with drinking. The anchor was arrested around noon yesterday at the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport for obstructing the legal process. He basically was drunk and wouldn't cooperate with police. The police had originally been called to the airport restaurant because someone complained about Jarrett being drunk. I'm not sure why they chose the obstruction of the legal process rather than the drinking charge. He was released early this morning after posting $300 bail. It takes real effort to get drunk in an airport bar in the noon hour. I'm guessing he checked in really early for his flight.
Fox is gonna blame all of this on Obama.
ReplyDeleteI'd be drinking at noon if I worked for Fox.
ReplyDeleteReal effort to get drunk in an airport? I'm guessing whomever wrote this has zero fear of flying.
ReplyDeleteNow if he was just hanging out at the place, that's different (and silly, they charge an arm and a leg for drinks in airports. See reason above).
The MSP airport is also where that Repulican politican got busted in the bathroom trying to get gay male sex.
ReplyDeleteFox news is going to go after the MSP airport & the Minneapolis police.
Is he from the Elizabeth Vargas school of reporting?
ReplyDeleteWhat's a drinking charge, Enty? It's not illegal to be drunk if you're over 21. What you do while drunk is a different story. He refused to cooperate with police, which is why he was arrested. Which 7-11 did you get your law degree from?
ReplyDeleteNo video? ~sad trombone~
ReplyDeleteAirports have bars, of course people are going to get drunk. Rules, security and drunk people don't mix so what do airports expect?
ReplyDeleteHey who hasn't been drunk at an airport?
ReplyDelete+1 x every time my flight was delayed. And that's a lot of flights!
Delete@Aoel, no need to bring innocent convenience stores into this debate! :b
ReplyDeleteSeven - I usually use Woolworths - as in "Where did you get your license?- Woolworths!!"
DeleteMy bad. I should have invoked the vagueness of the Innernet!!
Delete@TTM really needs to click on your smiley, Seven.
DeleteAirport bars dont make strong drinks so either he was there for hours laying over or he cant drink.
ReplyDeletesandy - you're not tipping right.
DeleteHa haaaaa. Aahaaa haaaaaaaaa!
ReplyDeleteWhew.
I absolutely LOVE this.
Buncha dicks on FN...
Uggg...stop with the Republican hating. He got drunk at an airport. Zzzzzzzzzz
ReplyDeleteBut @lwingen that's what all the cool kids do.
ReplyDeleteLets put it this way..
If one was dancing to the Cupid Shuffle, and they chose 'to the right, to the right, to the right' they are are not as cool as the 'to the left, to the left, to the left' crowd.
Personally, I prefer to walk it by myself ;)
He worked for Court TV as an anchor. He's a lawyer.
ReplyDeleteOmg.... so that's who that was. My flight was delayed. I was leaving the restaurant when heard some very loud voices. I think I said something about getting out before it got too crazy.
ReplyDeleteI went to my gate and missed the rest of it. Darn. I so woulda pulled out a camera if I had any idea.
I don't see how this has anything to do with politics, for those of you who are comparing the two. People get drunk...it's been happening for years. Lots of celebs have been caught drunk...some of them have even been caught doing drugs.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing now that he checked i late for his flight.
ReplyDeleteI'll always remember one moment of Jarrett's career. It's almost certainly one he wishes everyone on earth would forget.
ReplyDeleteHe was one of the anchors of CourtTV's coverage of the OJ Simpson trial, and during the viewer call-in segment, a woman called to take Jarrett to task for something he'd said the day before.
The prosecution, you may recall, depended heavily on the scientific testimony of LAPD criminalist Dennis Fung, who was, as his name suggests, Chinese-American. And the previous day, the defense had been very effective in attacking Fung and his testimony.
The day I was watching, then, a very angry woman called in to scold Jarrett for his commentary after that strong cross-examination. She was outraged at how racist Jarrett had been.
"It's clear," Greg Jarrett had said, "That Dennis Fung is the chink in the prosecution's armor."
As the woman snarled that quote, poor Jarrett's face just fell, eyes widening and jaw dropping. It was obvious that it had never occurred to him that the very common phrase he had used contained a word that, was also a vicious racial epithet, and the poor bastard clearly saw his career in TV Journalism disappearing before his eyes.
(Of course, he ended up on Fox News, so, eventually, although I'm sure through no fault of that very unfortunate choice of words, it did.)
The police charge said the charge had to do with his tab. Maybe he didn't want to pay?
ReplyDelete*charge sheet
ReplyDeleteAirports are great to drink in. Good people watching. Let's get to the real story of which hot piece Shep Smith is dating. Secretly I hope it's Andy Cohen and they have a Carville/Maitlin type of long happy life together.
ReplyDeleteThe MSP airport has an outstanding liquor store, so it's very easy to get drunk enough there.
ReplyDeleteAre they sure he wasn't just angry that he forgot the foot-tapping code for the men's room?
ReplyDeleteGuy getting drunk in airport bar is good gossip?
ReplyDeleteOh, he works for Fox. But of course. So it'll get a lot of comments from all the fraus who get their panties in a wad that there's a network that publicizes conservative perspectives. Escandolo!
Give the guy a break! It's hard to deliver the news when you're drunk! Ask almost any news anchor.
ReplyDeleteTed Baxter would deliver the news flawlessly if drunk. A real Ron Burgundy.
ReplyDeleteI read he had asked for personal time a few weeks ago for "personal reasons" - I suspect he may have a drinking problem and is trying to deal with it - perhaps went to rehab but left early?
ReplyDeleteMinnesota Statute 340A.902 DRUNKENNESS NOT A CRIME.
ReplyDeleteNo person may be charged with or convicted of the offense of drunkenness or public drunkenness. Nothing herein prevents the prosecution and conviction of an intoxicated person for offenses other than drunkenness or public drunkenness nor does this section relieve a person from civil liability for an injury to persons or property caused by the person while intoxicated.
It's hard to blame anyone who works in that den of hypocrites, liars and thieves for getting drunk all day, every day.
ReplyDeleteThe reason he was in Minnesota in the first place was to get treatment for alcohol addiction. Sounds like he stepped off the plane and proceeded to get plastered...
ReplyDeleteActually, he was just released from a treatment facility and told officers he had been drinking vodka all morning. He had also taken some pills (gabapentin).

ReplyDelete"treatment for alcohol addiction"
ReplyDeleteMaybe he thought of it backwards, like when you seek treatment for a vitamin deficiency, they have you take a whole lot of the vitamin. :D
