Efrem Zimbalist Jr., the actor who costarred as the suave private eye Stuart Bailey on TV's "77 Sunset Strip" beginning in the late 1950s and later starred as the buttoned-down Inspector Lewis Erskine on "The F.B.I.," died Friday. He was 95.
Modern generations know the actor more for his daughter, Stephanie Zimbalist, who starred on Remington Steele with Pierce Brosnan.
Aw, RIP
ReplyDeletequite a legacy
ReplyDeleteNo mention of Hot Shots? :(
ReplyDeleteHi chickens!!! Wow, that's a great old age for Hollywood! He seemed to get better-looking as he got older.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was just a mere child I watched him every week on "The FBI".
ReplyDeleteSo handsome and a great speaking voice.
He came from an extremely talented family. His father was a world class violist and his mother sang at the Metropolitan Opera House.
I wonder where Stephanie is now.
Trudy, I read she is difficult cranky person. She prob settled down somewhere. Off the wicki, lol
DeleteHe was also the voice of Alfred Pennyworth in the Batman cartoon series of the early 90's. RIP
ReplyDeleteAh…RIP
ReplyDeleteRIP Efram, who was also a composer & Broadway producer. I remember him from my childhood. He was lucky to get to live a long life.
ReplyDeleteRIP.
ReplyDeleteI thought the same thing, Vera! RIP.
ReplyDeleteWow, 95, good run! Rip. And now can someone explain the name efrem?? Not to mention Zimbalist? And JR no less. Always blew my mind.
ReplyDeleteRemember that she and Pierce didn't get along on the set of Remington Steele. IIRC she was the "star!" but he was getting all the attention.
ReplyDeleteI read her IMDB, she's worked consistently, stage and screen, but never married, no children.
Vera, yes, she did not serve herself well in that ditch. She complained about Pierce, who was smart enough to never complain about her and only said good things. Smart. I'm thinking and have thought forever she is prob gay. Which is cool. Her problem is grouchiness.
DeleteMeant sitch. Got new phone that likes to correct the shit out of me and is going to end up thrown against the room if it doesn't stop!
DeleteHis father was a concert violinist.
ReplyDeleteFBI was my dad's fave show. RIP.
agreed Liddy, she didn't do herself any favors. I also don't care about her orientation, but her professionalism. (or lack)
ReplyDeleteRIP Alfred. He really owned that role.
ReplyDeleteHe was also in "Wait Until Dark" with Audrey Hepburn...one of my favorite films.
ReplyDeleteMy mom and I were just talking about him, as I recently started watching "RS." Stephanie does lots of theater now and she and Pierce now have nothing but nice things to say about each other. They claim that they actually did get along, but working long hours and doing so many of their own stunts -- Laura in that pool of snakes?! No thanks! -- just made them both exhausted and cranky towards each other. And yeah, the star factor of Pierce annoyed her, but not as much as people think (so she says). Rumour is that she's a lesbian but feels no need to be vocal about it.
ReplyDeleteBut anyway, back to Efram. Glad he had a good long life, because it sounds like he was a happy scandal-free guy. RIP.
I thought he was so sexy and I loved his voice. We always watched FBI when I was little.
ReplyDeleteI am one of those people who only know him for his daughter.
ReplyDeleteRIP anyway.
I always loved his name....very cool name.
ReplyDeleteLong life...may he rest in peace
ReplyDeleteI'm ancient, and used to watch 77 Sunset Strip. He was dreamy. :)
ReplyDeleteI really wish they could show those episodes, but they were from the late 50's. I'm not sure it's feasible.
I'm glad he had a long life. I grew up on The F.B.I. I watched it with my parents.
