Efram Zimbalist Jr. Has Died

Efrem Zimbalist Jr., the actor who costarred as the suave private eye Stuart Bailey on TV's "77 Sunset Strip" beginning in the late 1950s and later starred as the buttoned-down Inspector Lewis Erskine on "The F.B.I.," died Friday. He was 95.

Modern generations know the actor more for his daughter, Stephanie Zimbalist, who starred on Remington Steele with Pierce Brosnan.

  2. Hi chickens!!! Wow, that's a great old age for Hollywood! He seemed to get better-looking as he got older.

  3. When I was just a mere child I watched him every week on "The FBI".
So handsome and a great speaking voice.

He came from an extremely talented family. His father was a world class violist and his mother sang at the Metropolitan Opera House.

I wonder where Stephanie is now.

  8. Remember that she and Pierce didn't get along on the set of Remington Steele. IIRC she was the "star!" but he was getting all the attention.

I read her IMDB, she's worked consistently, stage and screen, but never married, no children.

    1. Vera, yes, she did not serve herself well in that ditch. She complained about Pierce, who was smart enough to never complain about her and only said good things. Smart. I'm thinking and have thought forever she is prob gay. Which is cool. Her problem is grouchiness.

  10. agreed Liddy, she didn't do herself any favors. I also don't care about her orientation, but her professionalism. (or lack)

  13. My mom and I were just talking about him, as I recently started watching "RS." Stephanie does lots of theater now and she and Pierce now have nothing but nice things to say about each other. They claim that they actually did get along, but working long hours and doing so many of their own stunts -- Laura in that pool of snakes?! No thanks! -- just made them both exhausted and cranky towards each other. And yeah, the star factor of Pierce annoyed her, but not as much as people think (so she says). Rumour is that she's a lesbian but feels no need to be vocal about it.

But anyway, back to Efram. Glad he had a good long life, because it sounds like he was a happy scandal-free guy. RIP.

  18. I'm ancient, and used to watch 77 Sunset Strip. He was dreamy. :)
I really wish they could show those episodes, but they were from the late 50's. I'm not sure it's feasible.
