Blind Items Revealed

February 20, 2014

This almost A+ list singer has her own line of clothes at a discount retailer. When asked why she never wears any of the designs she said they were awful and the store is awful, but that the checks are really nice.

  1. So in other words the clothes are most likely classy and stylish? Whens Mimi coming out with her clothing line?

  2. Typical of today's society. Too many people no longer give a damn whether they, or their word, amount to anything substantial. Instead it's all about money, and far too many people will do literally anything to get it. What Ms. Minaj is doing, if she means what she says, is no better than prostitution, even if no sex is involved. At least most admitted prostitutes I've known actually give good value for the dollar.

  3. Everyone knows Sears is what comes to mind when you think Stylish clothes. ; )
If it weren't for tools and appliances Sears would have been gone Loooong ago.

  4. She's so natural and organic.

  5. They are the kind of clothes that really only look good on a discount version of Minaj, if memory serves. Lotsa tight bright spandex. Also, anyone who buys into her or the Kardashian brand: what they are wearing is the LEAST concerning thing about them.

  7. Who's the retailer? Big Lots?

    No, seriously.

  8. Thing is I don't think of Sears when I think Hooker Wear either...

  9. I do kinda like her though. Remember the kindness reveal of supporting those poor families and helping them get jobs? She treats her fans like gold and some of her songs are pretty catchy..

  10. @TTM - you were trying to avoid using the G word, weren't you.

  11. I had to run into Kmart very quickly a few weeks ago to grab some dog towels to use with my new puppy. While I was there I had to walk past her display of cloths. They were obnoxiously ugly and I could not fathom anyone around here ( small beach town ) wearing any of these ugly urban and gang esqe cloths.

  12. Here's the collection: http://www.kmart.com/nickiminaj/dap-120000000393821

  13. It was for Kmart. I saw her do the fashion show on The Queen Latifah show. It was targeted for TWEENS lol. I was just thinking who is going to send their kids to school in THAT...

  14. Niki. Has been fighting back against her handlers tightly controlled image awhile now. She never wanted to be pink barbie her handlers record label people did. Her people probably pushed her into this and she had no say in anything. Typical of new artists

  15. It's Sears? UGH.

I worked for them years ago for about 4 months in their cash room balancing the previous night's deposits and it was the MOST DISMAL place I'd ever worked. It was just a part time job and I was constantly called away to watch mandatory training films (conducted by the CEO and other fat cats in the home office) about "honesty" and "integrity" and was still expected to get my work done on time. My boss was the HR manager and she had to prepare spread sheets on her home computer because they didn't even have MS Office installed on her PC, yet they expected her to produce reports. The retail workers were IMO horribly underpaid. I've avoided that place like the plague ever since.

  16. Stuntin at Kmart!

  17. Well, somebody designed a clothing line that reflects HER image, so perhaps she should take a good look in the mirror, so to speak.

  18. By the way, our Sears has a very nice Lands End section inside it. Perfect place to pick up nice, good quality clothes for my kids.

  19. noddiing @Lands End.. Sears, meh, have to go there later to pick up my overhead KitchenAid microwave

second one in three-four years. if only I could just replace my suite of appliances with another brand *sigh*

  20. I thought this meant we wouldn't be seeing LE at Sears anymore:

  21. All of her items are buy one get one free so it looks like the checks might not be coming in much longer. The majority of the clothes are hideous and they are cheaply made.

    ReplyDelete
  22. No, CK76. I believe that means that Sears spun Lands End shares off to be traded separately on the market.

  23. Hey now! Sears isn't that bad. Her shit is sold at KMart though. Her clothing line is pure fug. If you have time, just google image it. It's not ghetto fabulous, which is what I think she was aiming for. It's just fug.

  24. @Mango I worked in retail in my youth and omfg god bless anyone that can hack that career. Crazy managers, awful customers, horrible pay, no commissions and you are expected to be early and stay late for 'inventory' god those were nightmare days. So glad I didn't get stuck in that vortex.

  25. Everybody I see in Sears and KMart looks like auto mechanics (everybody means everybody!)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I've never seen anyone wearing her clothes anyway so I guess the feeling is mutual.

    ReplyDelete
  27. @Robert, exactly. It's depressing.

@Freya, I know, who the hell even wears Nicki Minaj's designs?

    ReplyDelete
  28. The Kardashian Kollection" (yes, it's spelled that way) is at Sears. Their tagline is "the hottest trends, celebrity style, and fashion tips you can afford to try."

    Heh.

  29. JBlow does the same thing. I NEVER see her in her Kohl's line, nor did she ever wear her previous Sweat Face line. Delta Burke did the same thing with her now defunct, but I liked it, line.

  30. @Henriette I don't think any celebrities wear their own lines. They don't like wearing "cheap" and "common" clothes like the masses do, is my guess. Gwen Stefani seems to be the only exception. She wears LAMB everywhere and I respect her for this.

I remember the Olsen twins getting called on this years ago, because they attended the launch of their new inexpensive fashion line and wore designer clothes instead of their own stuff. A spokesperson for the twins said that they did not wear their own stuff because "they don't want to look like walking billboards." Yeah, right!

  31. Krissie.. lamb is not cheap though and it has certifiable celebrity credit. Jlo. Wears Kohls for pap walks she is smart like that. All about the brand. Lauren Conrad too.

  32. There's a Kmart practically within walking distance to me so I go there when something specific is on sale or when Target doesn't have what I want. I've purchased a few basics from the Jacquelyn Smith line, her clothes are decent looking and decently made for the price. Nothing seemed my style in the Vergara line. The Adam Levine stuff wasn't bad, but the Minaj line was for a very specific type/age of person and it was NOT a good fit for my area. Even if it is LA County, its a more conservative area. The Minaj stuff seemed more party/nightclubby, not every day type. Not sure what Kmart was thinking with her, if they want to market to teenage girls they should sign Katy Perry to do brightly colored happy stuff.

  33. @Mango We still have the same Sears store in the mall that has been here since it opened, but I haven't stepped foot in it in exactly 26 years. They were the one store that had the uniforms the Private School I went to from k-6 and once I went to public school from 7-12 (getting clothes was easier but the public school education was horrid. It was college before I learned anything that hadn't been taught to me in the Private elementary school) I just got clothes wherever. Beginning of 6th grade was the last time I went into Sears even when I worked in the mall during Christmas in 1999 at Software Etc.

  34. @sugarbread maker, yeah, I know LAMB isn't cheap, in fact IMO it's quite overpriced. Gwen was wearing it right from the start before it had any real fashion cred though so I still give her props.

I forgot about Lauren Conrad. I think she's her own model for her own line?

And of course Jessica Simpson's line, well, at least one Simpson sister wears that-I dunno about jessica but Ashlee does in the ads. Chick needs the work.

    1. surprisingly (for me at least) both Lauren and Jessica's lines are really cute. They are really good for essentials like jeans, blazers, blouses, shoes, etc. For some reason I didn't expect either one to be that great but both are slowly becoming my go to for certain items.

    2. @JSierra...could you walk me through that avi, please? What's going on there?

  35. Mango, my mother and a friend of mine both worked for Sears corporate some years ago, and both said it was the most miserable place they've ever worked. Sears, if all your employees work under a black cloud, how do you expect people to want to shop there?

  36. Yay!!! I got another Blind, but this one is a tie with @wiglet!!! Wooohooo

  37. I specifically avoid anything that's designer usually. I'm a GAP and Anne Taylor sort of girl myself. But I had heard that Jessica Simpson's clothes and shoes are very nice.

Say what you will about how smart she is. Singers and actors have a shelf life and she knew when she reached hers and moved to her second career. Or maybe stumbled into it. Either way she's making a lot of $$ for now. The public is however a fickle mistress.

  38. G word = Ghetto
(I think that's what was meant earlier.)

    1. Thanks zeeky. Wow. If ghetto now equals the bourgeoisie, then what's happened to the proletariat?

Never mind, that was rhetorical. :)
