Yes, let's get past this idea that a person can't live without sex. People can and do survive and even thrive without sex on a regular basis. It's not very hard to replace sex with masturbation, for those not in relationships, not sleeping around, or in celibate relationships. It's attitudes that throw around the idea that sex with others are "needs" that they "should have" that lead people like the Santa Barbara shooter to go crazy, when the reality is that plenty of people don't have sex all the time.

ReplyDeleteIt's been a looong time for me too. Much longer than you in fact. I still have urges. I still "practice." Part of that time I was out of work and living with my folks - no explanation needed there. After a while, you just get used to it.
