Blind Items Revealed

November 10, 2012

This A list all movie all the time actor had a secret meeting with this formerly almost A list foreign born singer. He has always sung her praises and when she was at the top of her fame chart, he was her biggest admirer. Meeting in secret is not that big of a deal normally, but in this case, it will be very interesting to see if she goes out with him to a very public event in the next few weeks. You know, just as friends, but then marriage in about two weeks.

Tom Cruise/Joss Stone (This would probably be irrelevant at this point, but apparently they have seen each other in London several times over the past few months)

  1. Meh. He can have her.

  2. The Co$ are probably selling her on how much he can help her dead career. Just like he helped Katies and Nicole 's.

  3. I sort of thought Joss herself had become a bit irrelevant these days. I can't remember the last time I heard a song of hers. The only reason I've even heard of her recently is because of those crazies who were going to kidnap her.

  4. She was great as Ann of Cleeves. That's all I got on her.

  5. Don't know her, listened to bits of four different songs and she sounds like an Idol winner.
If she hooks herself to his sinking star , the crap Katie went through is going to be pale in comparison.
A control freak gets worse when things can't be controlled ( like his popularity) and he will take it out on anyone stupid enough to give him an inch.

  6. idk, hard to believe this. she might in fact be courted by the scilocult, but i think she is also a product of the ruthless music industry. how many pretty females with amazing voices fade away?

i just think the music industry is a little worse than the acting world.

  8. @Seven Poor Anne. :( But she made out ok in the end.
Jesus God, that man was sex on a stick. I am going to re-watch all the episodes this summer. I miss it!

  10. I love Joss Stone and I hope she will run away from the Cruiser as fast as she can. She is such a great talent that I would hate to see her get caught up in that particular brand of awfulness.

  11. Wasn't she part of a group with Mick Jagger and a few others? They released an album.

  13. @Reno, seriously hot! And my girl Margery Tyrell, too, I love her smirk.

I did a paper on the Tudors and one thing I've never forgotten is the grounds for the Cleve annulment. Of course the first was pre-contract, but the second was awesome. Good ol' Henry's proof that non-consummation of the marriage was not because he couldn't get it up. According to his doctor, he wasn't impotent because he had "duas pollutiones nocturnas in somno".

A really fancy Latin way of saying he had two wet dreams during his marriage to Anne. :D

I think I'm going to watch it again, too!

    1. @Seven: I thought the real reason Henry annulled his marriage to Ann of Cleves was that she was ugly as sin.
He was sent a painting of her, but the painter made her good looking or as close as it was possible.

    2. @Becca :D

She's not hideous in the painting, but even if she was in real life, he thought well enough of her to have her declared the King's Sister and set her up for life rather than removing her head. The "two sisters paintings" were a very interesting part of the puzzle that was that rather unbalanced fellow.

I love Tudor history. I've got all kinds of books on it that I've read. It's fascinating!

    1. I can't watch the Tudors. The historical inaccuracies and the gawdawful costumes really turn me off. I guess I just don't like alternate reality shows unless they are billed as such. I don't mind other people liking them as long as I get to have my say. It's my favorite historical period and I've studied it extensively.

Henry is a man of legend. He liked serial monogmay while the other monarchs displayed their virility by going through women like rock stars. My theory is that he really wanted a happy home life like his parents had. For all his faults, the family of Henry VII really loved him. He did leave Henry VIII a solvent treasury and a peaceful realm. Look at who he loved the most in his memory: Jane, his third wife who caused him so little trouble. He was probably most content with his last wife and most friendly with Anne of Cleves. She lasted through Mary's coronation and was highly placed at court. She played Henry brilliantly. She got independence and a handsome income and he got a divorce with no trouble. She's my absolute favorite of his wives. He was very friendly with his "beloved sister" after the divorce. They got along so well there were rumors of remarriage. Like that was going to happen. Not.
I guess my point is that the reason I don't like the Tudors is that the reality was so much more intense than the episodes I forced myself to watch. My dislike extends to the costumes. They seem like concept clothes. Inaccurate and annoying.

Guess I've had my say. I have no problem with those that like the show now that I've had my little rant. Enjoy away!

    2. @Maureen, rant away! :D

I laugh at the inaccuracies, too, but I chalk it all up to television. I'm not watching a documentary, so I figure they're fudging the details for the sake of entertainment. I feel the same way about Philippa Gregory's books. I've only read a couple but I remember thinking, "Um, no, that's not how it happened..." and I had to remind myself it's historical fiction based on historical truth and embellished for entertainment.

Yay for Tudor fans and scholars!

  16. Henry VIII strikes me as a sociopath. How many of those closest to him were eventually murdered by him? Thomas Cromwell, Anne Boleyn, Sir Thomas More, Catherine Howard and almost Cardinal Wolsey (who had the bad manners to die before Henry had the chance to execute him). He never heard of exile for those out of favor?

  17. Maureen..I love this site because there are a lot of very smart people who post here. I agree with you on historical inaccuracies although I would never know on the Tudors because history has never been my strong suit. Thanks for the contribution!

Boy the GMD really likes he tall girls doesn't he. Wonder why he does that. Any theories?

  18. Well...Tom IS on the prowl for a new beard, and maybe Joss is trying to jumpstart her career.

  19. I am also quite fascinated by Tudor history. I loved reading Alison Weir's books on the history of his children and also "Lady in the Tower" about Anne Boleyn.

My parents went to England last summer and my mom said they skipped the tour of the tower because, in her words, it was too boring. I freaked out!! I could not even believe it. I would have been all over that!!

  22. I just think Tommy is a big music fan. He was one of Jewel's first celebrity fans, and I don't think there was anything else going on there. For all the crap he gets, he really does help promote musician's careers.

  23. Oh my word, but Phillipa messed up some history! But, I guiltily enjoyed her books anyway because of the fast and amusing read. HaHa.
The Tudors didn't bother me with the inaccuracies that much. They certainly embellished and such, but was much better than other movies and those Phillipa books!

  24. I just saw Joss Stone supporting India Arie here in Sydney and I was ready to bag her out but she was great! Her voice is fantastic and she really knew how to connect with the crowd. I hope she's clever enough to keep away from the Scientolo-Dwarf....

  26. Is it so awful that cruise remain single? He's tried marriage 3x, mob not his forte. Visit Suri. If you meet someone fine, otherwise just be for a while.

  27. Joss Stone is a major pot-head. I wonder how Tom is going to reconcile her weed habit with scientology's anti-drug rules.
