This former A list singer/celebrity/mostly television actress may be about to get married but it doesn't mean she won't have sex for songs because she is the queen of it. She wants to be back on top again and even had sex with a guy who had been married just two weeks.
She ended up splitting with her boyfriend in the past few weeks. I wonder why.
Brandy
ReplyDeleteI think you're right. She released an album a year or so ago and the hype died down the wee. it was released. At one point, she told Kelly Rowland she should stop living in Beyonce's shadow and doing everything she says.
Deletethis fit niki but they didnt say rapper ....
ReplyDeleteyea brandi better choice
That is totally creepier that a dude that got married with two weeks still feels like he needs to charge somebody their vagina for songs
ReplyDeleteNicki Minaj
ReplyDeleteBrandy split up with that guy months ago, supposedly ,but this may be the right answer.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of even one of Brandi's songs.
ReplyDelete@sugar You don't remember this or the fact Brandy had some weird booger in her face hole in the video?
DeleteI *hate* the 'fucks for tracks' thing - somehow, despite my gossip predilection, I find it a step too far on the crassometer.
ReplyDeleteSad when you have to sell your soul to save your celebrity.
ReplyDeleteIs Brandy relevant enough to be a guess?
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of women singers get forced into the fucking for tracks routine by male producers...sort of a last dig at power and control for them. Women are supposed to be subservient and the weaker sex, so why not make them feel less than important by making them pay for their hit single. The entertainment industry is still in the dark ages about sexual equality. And in what world is Nicki Minaj a mostly television actress?
ReplyDeleteMiley Virus.
ReplyDeleteThe blind is about a woman but the practice is not gender specific, at least not for the singers. Guys have to fuck for tracks too.
ReplyDeleteI think all the sleazeballs that run the music industry operate the same way, it's in the secret constitution.
ReplyDeleteVaJayJay or whatever or no play.
I would have thought these people did not have to extort people to get sex but then I guess extortion is part of the turn on.
I have to wonder though, are the more successful producers the ones that base their work on talent without demanding sex vs who I can extort for sex? Nah I had a brief moment of naivety. Forgive me.
There are some female record producers are they not. You think Missy Elliot ever demanded the people she produced put out first?
ReplyDeleteMaybe Missy does. Power and influence over people goes to people's heads. Maybe because my mama brought me up with some sense of ethics, I can't imagine a situation where I would demand sex for favours. I would have no respect for the other person and I would have even less respect for myself. But who knows. What's that saying "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely" I think that was a line in that Caligula movie.
ReplyDeleteBasil, that is a quote from Lord Acton. Caligula isn't what I think of a a literary source.
ReplyDeleteI agree this was Brandi but her engagement was total BS anyway. I freelanced for her wedding planner and as soon as she realized she couldn't get a reality show to pay for it she "postponed."
ReplyDeleteThanks 0-0 for the correction. I don't know who Lord Acton is. I shall have to look it up. But that line was used either in Caligula or I Claudius, so may I have always attributed to Robert Graves. Oh and FTR, at least the original script of Caligula (before Bob Guccione got to meddling in it) was written by Gore Vidal and he used all the ancient sources such as Tacitus, Dio and Suetonius, who in my opinion are pretty much the gossip bloggers of their time. Funny thing, when Caligula came out in 1979, I of course was far to young to see it, so I bought the movie-tie in book. It was basically porn, but I got so interested in wondering if it could actually be true, it started a life long love of Roman and Byzantine history.
ReplyDeleteAll the little boys fft. Bieber and the like. The boys bend over too. Music biz. Much prefers boys to vaginas all day anyday.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you just write your own songs & create your own demo? Cut out the horny middleman.
ReplyDeleteI was THIS close to being in the music industry a few years ago, so this is no surprise. I'd heard some things about her, but never payed the stories any attention. The sex for tracks thing is the music industry's version of the casting couch. A lot of times established artists do it because they want the benefit of having a person's work on their album without having to pay full price. New artists do it almost solely because someone in a position of power wants them to, and when you've worked for something your whole life and you see it right in front of you sometimes you cave. The deals that a lot of new artists get are worth peanuts, if that, so people get creative sometimes.
ReplyDeleteMissy definitely demands sex for her work. I don't know if anybody remember's Tweet, but at one point it was rumored that's how her first album was done.
Hate to think of Brandy being so desperate. Shame.
ReplyDeleteFact is, as "American Idol" has proven, singers are a dime a dozen and easily replaceable and forgettable. Just ask Ciara, Cassie, Brandy, Danity Kane, Tweet, Dev.
ReplyDeleteIf the guy who did the years of complicated work learning the hard part of music. Writing and producing it, then why shouldn't he charge what ever the heck he wants. Those girls are lucky someone wrote them a million dollar song for them to sing.
Same concept applies to actresses. Nobody owes these girls ( in either industry ) anything. If everybody wants to be famous, and the skill ( singing/acting ) isn't particularly in scarce supply ( million of people are dying to do these jobs ), then the person willing to do the most or give the most to the handful of people ( good music producers, good film & television directors ) who can make it happen, should get that shot...
...and the rest can go get their shift back at Denny's or working the bottle service section of the new ultra-lounge in Joliet, IL or where ever.
Jake... Do you hang out with Sherri Shepard's husband?
