  3. I still can't bring myself to buy Exxon (and now Mobil since they merged) gas after the Exxon Valdez spill in 89. And I'm not even an environmentalist but that pissed me off.

  4. Anything Lilo's in (except gossip).

  5. Excessively cheap clothing stores eg Primark. I often think about boycotting Nestle but haven't quite got there yet. Oh and the Sun newspaper.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Back in the 80's I boycotted products from South Africa when they still had Apartheid.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Computer animated movies. Only hand-drawn animation for me!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Safeway and Kmart they treat and pay their employees shit so that's the kind of service you get so I'll go else where.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anything connected to those evil Koch brothers if I can help it.

    I've posted this before:

I downloaded an app called "buycott". You scan the barcode of any product you're thinking of purchasing (or have in your cupboard) and it tells you information about the company, like if they're against GMO labeling. It's free for android and iOS devices. I now must decide between Diet Coke and social conscience. :/

  21. Among a few others, I boycott Roman Polanski and Nivea products, for their BS ad campaigns.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Since I just caught up with all of my bills, I'm boycotting absolutely everything until my next paycheck is deposited.
Seriously - any entity that allies itself with extreme right wing, super religious organizations. Christian Coalition, One Million Moms, Family Research Council, folks like that. They have the most frightening, practical impact on my life.

    ReplyDelete
  23. OH I hate Monsanto too, I'm big supporter of Organics. If you live in bay area, ca try itsorganic.com great company love it and its affordable. Not sure if they are else where in the country.

  26. Any Pet store that sells animals. Also Walmart.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I came here thinking I don't boycott anything but then after reading the list of responses, I realize that I do boycott quite a bit. It's just so natural I don't think of it.
    Tyson Chicken
    Nestle
    Monsanto
    Woody and Roman

@P, what is the deal with Smithfield products? And what do they make? I seem to think it's chicken but not sure?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Love that link, thank you!

No Kmart of Walmart near me so I don't need to boycott!

Monsanto and Koch bros. Research what companies Monsanto owns, you'll be amazed.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Chik-Fil-A. And I love their chicken nuggets, waffle fries, and lemonade, so it IS a sacrifice.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Me, too, AKM. Chick-Fil-A & also Hobby Lobby. I don't like companies to force their religious beliefs on their workers. To me, that is a very personal thing, no matter how you feel about it!

I usually don't support zoos but we have an amazing one by me that rescues animals. It's mostly old and sick animals but you know by visiting that you are helping to keep them alive. Also the habitats seem large and well maintained.
It's called the Popcorn Zoo in NJ.

    ReplyDelete
  39. And gun control advocates.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I don't really boycott, but I do try to avoid chain restaurants.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Chik-Fil-A, not because of the gay rights things, but because they're restaurants smell disgusting. Same with Popeye's.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Celebrity endorsed perfume clothes etc

    ReplyDelete
  43. Monsanto and Walmart. Both are evil. Star thanks for the organic tip.

Safeway is across the street and I can walk to buy beer and wine which is always on sale. You accrue points for gas on other items so needless to say I never accrue enough points for a gas discount.

    ReplyDelete
  44. WalMart, but even though I don't shop there, I still have to give them money via all the subsidies they get from all forms of gov't and the "socialism" their poorly paid employees are eligible for. But those Waltons are all billionaires. I hate this company with the burning fire of a thousand suns.

Chik-Fil-A - yes, the food was good. No I don't care about your religious beliefs, I care when you use the profits from my purchase to actively lobby governments against non-discrimination protection rights based on sexual orientation, and that includes school bullying laws. That's the type of shit that is leading our kids to commit suicide. How Christian is that?

Sea World. I used to love this place and visit almost yearly, but I doubt I will ever go there again. I am torn on this because the Sea World of old was a fantastic research facility, but they've had so many owners and it seems their focus now is money money money.

Sears, although meh. This is a decades old boycott based on their very long history of gender discrimination against women employees but this company is in so much trouble its just irrelevant now. There is a Kmart nearby and I shop there every once in a while, when I cant find what I want at Target.

  46. Exxon. I've only bought Exxon gas once since the Valdez--and, very ironically, I seem to recall that that purchase occurred in a National Park.

I was going to boycott BP just as strenuously after that disaster, but heard a report on NPR that almost all BP gas stations are supplied through spot markets, and not from BP, so I'm not quite as strict if I'm driving in an unfamiliar place.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Walmart, Chik-fil-a, Paula Dean chicken products, and CDAN on troll days.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anything Tom Cruise is in.

Most anything that has a $cilon in it (Veronica Mars being the exception even though Logan Echolls' actor is one).

Subway because the bread always smelled of chemicals to me. Althought I've heard that they finally stopped adding the chemical that they use for yoga mats.

Barilla pasta/Chik-Fil-A/Wal-Mart (because I'm a Left Coast gal at heart)

Perez Hilton (PH-free for at least 5 years now)

Pat Robertson and all televangelism for their monetary pipeline to God policy.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Use the Good Guide to research your foods. Use the Coming Clean Campaign to research your body care products. You'd be amazed at the products that you find at the co-ops or Whole Foods that appear organic (and/or good for you) when in reality they are far from it.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Oh no. Why is Barilla pasta evil, Steph?

BP, Walmart, and Hobby Lobby for me, but it isn't difficult because I was never loyal and they don't offer anything I love. Chik-Fil-A is the hard one for me. I love their chicken sandwiches but ever since I found out how much money they donate to camps that "fix" gay teenagers, I haven't been able to set foot in there in years. My stomach turns just driving by the place. I hate so-called Christians who don't understand the concept of loving all.

    1. @Lucy, the chairman of Pasta Barilla said he doesn't approve of homosexuality or of gay people adopting children. And an off the cuff comment about how the brand is marketed toward women, not gay people.

He tried to couch it all nice-like by saying he approves of gay marriage, though.

His apology was a crock of funny: "I simply wished to underline the central role the woman plays within the family."

    ReplyDelete
  67. I don't boycott anything, sure there are places I don't go or products I don't buy but that's just because I have no need for them. I don't care what an owner of a business thinks or beliefs they hold. Hell, if I boycotted something involving people that I personally think have crazy political or religious beliefs, I'd never see a movie or read a book.

The closest I've come to a boycott lately is politics. Both sides in Washington are out of their fucking minds and have forgotten that they are supposed to help make the country work and instead have turned it into high school cliques where they are trying to outdo each other to get their way for the prom theme.

    ReplyDelete
  68. The list of what I boycott is pages long. I try to only buy products that are manufactured in countries that have strong labor laws and are eco-friendly. That often means that I spend way more than I would if I shopped at Target or Wal-Mart, but if it means that my money isn't going to fund forced labor, so be it. We shop as locally as possible and are big proponents of thrifting, garage/estate sales, etc., so that we're keeping our global footprint as small as we feasibly can. We are raising our children to live by the old motto, "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without."

And no matter how cheap, I REFUSE to shop at Wal-Mart for anything.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I refuse to buy any yachts or Learjets until the problem of income inequality is fixed. My income specifically.

    ReplyDelete
  70. A restaurant chain called Damons (homophobia)

I would boycott Walmart (treating staff like shit) and Chick Fil A (various things) were I in the US.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Serious answer I try to avoid all ESPN programming since their former employee Craig James used ESPN to get his widdle baby boy's head coach fired at Texas Tech by lying through his teeth on the network over and over about his kid's punishment & lack of playing time.

    ReplyDelete
  72. WalMart, Papa John's, Dominoes, McDonalds, etc, along with any establishment where the CEO or owner refuses to pay a living wage. I don't even want a penny of my earnings going towards funding a fucked up, bigoted, racist, misogynist, xenophobic right wing agenda.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Nestlé and News Corp....Rupert Murdoch is the devil incarnate

    ReplyDelete
  74. I never watch reality TV, like the KTrash or Housewives. I feel like those shows are doing irreparable damage to our culture.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Walmart. Always and foever.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Movies by or with:

    Woody Allen
    Roman Polanski
    Tom Cruise
    Spike Lee
    Jim Carrey

All MLB broadcasts not involving the Yankees or Mets (since 1994 strike)

Sears - I only go to store closing sales since they jerked me around on the delivery of a lawn tractor. Guy's eyes almost fell out of his head when he realized they would have to hand me back $1700 cash, when I returned to cancel the order. Went across the parking lot to Home Depot, and the thing was delivered, put together and cutting grass by 10AM the next morning.

KFC - off and on when they fuck up my drive thru order. When they fuck up, I send a multi paragraph complaint email to corporate, and tell them in the complaint that I gave bogus name and mailing address, because I don't want their fucking coupons. One time the cocksuckers stiffed me on 2 pot pies. I drove 15 minutes back and the bitch behind the counter tried to ignore me and hide. They didn't have any cooked.

Escort Agencies - only people who lie more than whores are people sellin whores.

Snapple - Since Quaker Oats bought them and canceled advertising on the Stern Show. Plus they kept Rasberry and Peach, but killed my fave flavor, Orange.

I boycotted a bar in the area for about 5 years until the one cunt bartender got fired for trying to get in a fist fight w/ a male customer. I stopped going cause I knew I'd get drunk enough there to either hit her or give her a reason to have me banned.

TGIFridays - for selling swill booze as top shelf.

NY Post - it aint fit to have yer dog shit on.

Sirius Radio/Howard Stern Show - $14/month for edited repeats, 3 new shows/wk 2-3 weeks a month, and no funny? Pass. "I piss on my fans." Good thing I dodged the stream.

NJ Strip Clubs - I can't site there and stare at whores w/o having a cigarette. And when you go outside on a busy night to have a smoke, some other pervert scums yer seat. F that. Bridge to PA aint to far.

Beck's Beer - brewed in St. Louis, using lesser quality ingredients and still charging import prices. Suck my balls InBev. Yuengling taste good and get me drunk.

That is all I can think of off the top of my head.
