Off Topic
I spend a ridiculous amount of time watching television and the one thing I love about all the million offerings is that the whole starting a new season in the fall thing is largely disappearing. I love that GOT can start in April or Mad Men and there is something to look forward to almost every month.
This is my favorite time of year with the Game of Thrones/Mad Men double header, these are my favorite shows, the BEST!
ReplyDeleteVery true! Summer used to a drought for TV, with re-runs mostly. I didn't realize, though that The Voice had already started, and I'm still getting caught up. A person just has to pay more attention I guess.
ReplyDeleteI like that premium cable has 3 or 4 seasons of 10 episodes or so of their various shows all year long.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. I also like that it now allows me to limit the amount of shows per week. Besides Mindy Project (which I absolutely adore more and more every week), I really only watch Sunday night shows, AMC and HBO.
ReplyDeleteSo much more time to do things!

ReplyDeleteThis season thing is so specific to the US. Unless it's all gone over my head the past 30 years, I'm pretty sure programmes just sort of have always started and finished whenever they like here (England).
ReplyDeleteAs an aside I find the million offerings on tv now, and being able to watch whatever, whenever is a bit anxiety inducing. I did love the routine back in the day of knowing exactly what was on just 3 channels and when it was on.
Tv shows are a struggle for me now. So used to webseries or youtube updates that siting down for a full hour of drama is getting harder and harder... GOT and WD notwithstanding
ReplyDeleteI look forward to Big Brother in the summer. Trashy goodness!
ReplyDeleteI thought I was the only BB fan! Janelle goes to my gym & I get excited when I see her, which is sad now that I wrote it.
DeleteBB is the greatest train wreck, ever!!!
DeleteAndy did not deserve to win.
It shlda been McCrae or that dumbass Gina Marie.
Another BB fan here, though last season almost killed it for me. I'd be starstruck around Janelle. I'm embarrassed to admit that I recently looked for Kaysar's twitter feed after wondering what became of him.
DeleteUmmmm...Kaysar was awesome and hot, bring it!
DeleteMad men starting takes the sting out of walking dead end of season!
ReplyDeleteI love that, too. I think the networks are learning from cable that some shows are better, both from a economical and storytelling viewpoint, if they only have 10 or 13 episode seasons, or split longer seasons like "Walking Dead" does. There are rarely any viewer declines because of filler episodes trying to meet a episode quota or due to long interruptions over the holidays. Once the networks get that, then they'll realize every show doesn't have to start in the fall.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget Fargo on FX- Looks like it might blow the rest out of the water.
ReplyDeleteOrphan Black, April 19!
ReplyDeleteI love that Netflix, Amazon, and many of the cable channels are making the networks work harder. Maybe they'll stop producing reality crap all the time and start pushing out quality network shows.
Then again, maybe not.
I guess I need to start orphan black huh.
ReplyDeleteI hate when they split seasons, like the final season of The Office, or SVU this year. that is why I do my best to only watch shows in syndication or on HBO.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh how could I forget Orphan Black! So excited that's coming back!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking the exact opposite. I miss when the fall season would start on the three networks, and every show would run without repeats for 13 or more episodes. It was like a ritual in life that I looked forward to.
ReplyDeleteLast season was crazy fo sho! I'd also be starstruck around Janelle! Is she nice acting, @Dena?
ReplyDeleteI love that there is good TV all year round now :)
