Talks too much : you are depriving yourself. Amend this ASAP.

  8. Nothing to do with GOT but Peaches Geldof has died

  9. I gave up on "Game of Thrones" early on last year, and I haven't regretted it. Being the disreputable fellow I am, I don't deny enjoying the hot nekkid wimminz, but they all show up on the Internet the next day anyway, so I'm not missing out. But the show itself? It's a big pile of "Meh."

What happened with me is that I came to realize the show is a one-trick pony, and its one trick is a particularly mean-spirited one.

I'm all for "Dangerous" storytelling, where "nobody is safe." But there's a difference between "No character is safe" and "They're all fucking doomed." It's no fun at all watching a show that makes it a point of pride to kill any character who is decent or likable enough to get attached to, and to deny justice for any and all wrongdoings, just to show how transgressive and edgy it is.

Screw that. Let me know when Tonks gets nekkid again.

Johnathan : read the books dude.

    2. TBF, it's not the SHOW that's doing that. It's the books.

Read the books. Totally worth it.

    3. I read the first book and thought it was horrible. To each his own I guess...

  10. Loved it! Red Viper brings a whole new spin and Dragon Mama was fierce again. (Her PA is gorgeous, too.) Arya was a surprise, too.

Game of Thrones is American production at its finest. Hope the bloody writer gets a wriggle on with the ending, must be worth millions a minute. Peaches Geldof is a total shock, as a mother of girls, I cannot get my head around it. It was Mothers Day here in Britain recently.

  13. Having read all five available books, almost nothing I see on the HBO imcarnation is a surprise. Nonetheless: I'm happy they visualize the story so near to the original story of G.R.R.M. The handling of the Needle is very accurately performed by Maisie Williams.

Alas not too much about Dany will be shown in the fourth season... The Dragons are animated beautifully.

  14. Yes, but it was too short

  15. I want to watch it nonstop. Why do I have to wait another week for an episode. Its pure agony!!!

  18. I enjoyed it very much and the hour flew by.

I will give it a thumbs down on the accuracy of the blade made from Valerian Steel.

My husband is a blacksmith and blade smith and to make a sword you do not smelt it and pour it. They heat, cut and hammer. That was pretty piss poor considering they have a blacksmith as a character. Hmmm..maybe I can find a way to get the OPster a job on the show as a consultant...

    1. Hey Sherry, does your hubby fashion kitchen blades at all? Looking for a high carbon petty. Probably 90 mm blade.

      Delete
    2. The original blade was too large, so it was melted & recast as two blades.
It was more dramatic to show it that way, rather the the lengthy process where a smith would heat & cut it & then hammer them back to new shapes & sizes.

  19. DVR'd it, but haven't watched it yet...no spoilers.

  20. I like the fact GOT has the balls to stay true to the books. It was very shocking end of first season since I have decided not to read the books. I guess I could start with the first one this summer.

I agree one week is too long.

    ReplyDelete
  21. They could at least have a two hour season premiere as some other one hour dramas do.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Marry me, Ray.

@Rolf, Dany's storyline will most likely not resemble the book's storyline. Rapunzel just won't work here and they've said there will be some pretty significant changes.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Geez Louise, why? Everybody I know who's read them has been impressed that, while there have been minor changes -- Making Osha young and hot, combining or replacing other characters -- the series is a remarkably faithful adaptation of the books.

Which translates as, the books are the same goddamned one-trick pony as the show is, without the remediation of getting to see Natalia Tena nekkid.

    Screw that, too.

  24. Was so good. Jaime Lannister......cleans up so well.....

    Joffrey - what a prick.

  25. I have worked my way thru almost all 5 books--have about half of number 5 to go--I appreciate the show and cannot WAIT for Joffrey's wedding....Insert evil maniacal laughter here....

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't even know what that show is about apart from some kinky dragon-loving woman, a big spiky chair, and some grungy dudes on a mountainside.

  27. I heard speculation that Khaleesi's new contract says no more nude scenes. If so, I am friggin pissed.

Some good gratuitous nudity last night. Sansa Stark turned 18 in February. I hope the character lives through this season so we can get some fire crotch next year.

  28. True statement.

And Oberyn Martell is fucking hot.

    And Pedro Pascal is amazing!

  29. Martin writes one episode a season and seems to have a voice on what happens with the show.

Didn't love the recast Daario he doesn't have the same sex appeal and flirtiness Ed Skrein did. Still no reason why he was recast.

Really excited for Joffrey's wedding bad things always happens at these weddings that little shit.

  30. Arya was awesome. It's weird how they seem to be going back and forth through the books instead of staying in order, though.

And seriously, I know it's just a character, but every time Joffrey is on I want to drop kick his smug little face and spit down his throat.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Old Daario left to make a movie.

GOT is so expensive to make, they probably blew the CGI budget just showing the dragons in the first ep. This was a longer episode, most run for 53-55 minutes, I think this one was 58-59 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  32. It ran a little bit longer because of the 5 min recap at the beginning of the episode.

    ReplyDelete
  33. So worth the wait! I may have to do what I did last year and hold off watching a few episodes and then binge watch them because one hour at a time is not enough!

I am dying to read the books but am holding off until JRRM finishes the series. There another supposedly similar series and the author died before finishing it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I got halfway through the first book and was too bored to keep reading. There's much better fantasy writing out there, imo.

    ReplyDelete
  35. If you don't want spoilers don't click on and comment in the post specifically talking about the episode.

Agree, the hour did go by waay to fast. I wish we got more Jon Snow :/ but I'll take what I can get. I was a little surprised when those Southerners put only an arm on the spit, I was honestly expecting them to pull out a bunch of little kids heads or something equally as disturbing.

    1. Agreed! I was definitely expecting a head.....or three.

  36. I enjoyed it. Most of the acting is good, except for Harington and Clarke who can't act their way out of a paper bag. Pedro Pascal and Sophie Turner were terrific last night. I need to see more of NewDaario in action before I make a final judgement but so far, I think the first guy haf Daario's doucheness down pat.

PS: No naked Sansa please, Sophie may be 18 but Sansa is not.

    1. Kit Harrington's acting was pretty good last night. He has improved so much since the first season.

  37. Please, Nancy, Khaleesi was supposed to be 13 when she dropped her robe and got in the tub and when she was getting boned by Drago.

    ReplyDelete
  38. @Count, while I get what you are saying, I am just going to have to respectfully disagree with you. While yes, Khaleesi was 13 in the books when she was married off to Drogo, the show aged the character up and hired Emilia Clarke who was 23 years old when the show started. So at least she was well into adulthood when the show began. Same deal with the characters of Jon Snow and Robb Stark who were supposed to be 14 at the start of the books and aged up with 20 something actors playing the roles.
My problem is Sophie started the show as a young girl and I might be a minority here, I have no desire to see her or any of the underage cast strip down--even when they become of age.

  39. Charlie,

He has made one or two kitchen blades but he has focused more on the Damascus technique.

Becca, oh yeah we understand the smelting was for dramatic effect. It just wasn't how it would be done.

  40. Great episode, especially the ending.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think all the others had to do it, why not her? It should be a right of passage on set.

If the 1/2 man won't make a woman out of her, I'm sure someone else will by the time the story is over. The viewers need to see that. Especially since she has a fire crotch.

    ReplyDelete
  42. @anon if you're waiting for GRRM to finish the books, you may be waiting for a long time (and maybe forever).

  43. I loved watching Joffrey. Talk shit to his uncle-daddy-uncle-daddy. And Jaime just wanted to kill him. I need more of Joffrey putting daddy uncle in his place.
Am I the only one who thinks margerie-natalie Dorman reminds you of Kate middleton??
There is a school somewhere in Europe where the kids were such brats the teacher started shouting out got spoilers of who dies next and then the kids eventually behaved quite nicely.
