Miley Cyrus Still Hospitalized

Miley Cyrus says she is ready to get out of the hospital, but she may have to remain hospitalized for up to three weeks. According to a statement from her publicist, Miley's reaction to the antibiotics she was taking can last anywhere from 5 to 27 days. The statement also implied that her shows scheduled for next week in Nashville; Louisville, Kentucky; Philadelphia; Uniondale, New York; and Connecticut -- would be canceled. The official line is that Miley was suffering from the flu and doctors prescribed Cephalexin which she suffered a severe allergic reaction to.

Miley Tweeted out a copy of the statement along with a message for people to stop scaring her family and friends and fans. She said it a little more rudely. All I can say from looking at the above photos is they must have let her bring in her own sheets and pillows and blankets.

  2. So she either has one of the most irresponsible Dr's on the planet (giving her something she's allergic to) or she's in rehab.
    Is that what this means?

If rehab, I wish her luck.

  3. Dear Miley: people have died using.

  4. Cephalexin Is never prescribed for the flu, so I have no idea what the heck is happening here.

  5. They probably should have consulted a doctor or pharmacist before coming up with that excuse.

  6. She must be a fan of TTM. And I quote...

"im meant to be onstage performing for y'all"

    Being sick is hard.

  7. If she was in rehab, she wouldn't be able to tweet, though, would she?

    1. Certain rehabs do allow use of social media. I know of one person last year who was in rehab in Thailand and he still tweeted. Surprised me.

  8. You don't take antibiotics for the flu!

  9. Maybe she had the "porn flu" (gonorrhea), Reno?

  10. don't buy this for a minute

there's no way she would be in any hospital for up to 27 days for any allergic reaction-they would send you home and monitor you

    just no

  12. i don't buy any of this. a true allergic reaction is an immediate crisis you deal with. i've never heard this '5 to 27 days' crap except from her publicist.

funny how that 27 days is close to 30 days......

  13. Just going to post what Rene said, you don't take antibiotics for the flu.

That said you can die from an allergic reaction to an antibiotic.

It is not necessarily the fault of the doctor if the antibiotic is new or never been used on the patient before and you've never had a reaction. My nephew got real sick from taking a new antibiotic but he was a little boy too at the time.

I developed an allergic reaction to an antibiotic that I had used many times before and it was like weeks after the fact so I didn't put the two together until later - didn't put me in hospital but I thought I had arthritis or something, all my joints were suddenly very sore and I couldn't stay awake and this went on for about six weeks. By the time I got to a specialist it was gone but he asked if I had ever taken that very specific antibiotic.

  14. That's what I was thinking too. She can't be in rehab if they have a picture of her.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I don't think this is drug or rehab related. Something serious is going on with her medically. Or maybe she just has mono. That can lay you up for months!

  16. Coming from a medical standpoint many people have no idea they're allergic to something until they're given that and they react, so you can't really blame a dr there. It happens quite frequently. I had no idea I was allergic to bee stings until last year when I got stung and had a huge reaction. Crap happens. That being said, Keflex is useless for having the flu. It's a bacterial infection antibiotic so draw your own conclusions from there.

    1. Not sure where Enty came up with the flu info but the official statement is that she had a sinus infection. I hate that I know this and felt the need to comment but I hate inaccuracy more.

    2. @demandah yeah I don't know why the flu would be mentioned and then stating she took antibiotics. The flu is a viral infection and Keflex is a bacterial infection antibiotic. Sounds like a lot of wires are crossed here but regardless I hope she gets better. Whatever her ailment may be.

  17. Just checked Cephalexin. Still don't understand it, but it seems to be an antibiotic, and seems to be used to treat staph like infections, and also influenza. And yes you can get a severe allergic reaction to it, but it only happens in less than 0.1% patients.

Not really sure if I am fannish of Miley, but I do hope she gets better.

  18. let's clarify. an adverse reaction and an allergic reaction are not the same thing at ALL. some people are describing adverse reactions here.

    ReplyDelete
  19. doesn't matter what she supposedly has

there is no way an allergic reaction keeps you in the hospital for up to 27 days-they try to kick people out of the hospital as soon as they possibly can these days

there are insurance limitations and this would not be in those parameters

    ReplyDelete
  20. No reaction to antibiotics take that long to treat.

  21. I was prescribed something for a sinus infection. Found out the hard way that I'm allergic or had an adverse reaction to sulfa. Chills, turned a lovely shade of red, then a rash over 90% of my body. Then steroids which puffed up my face like a balloon. Totally believe her.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yes, that's makes 3 of us that can not do Sulfa, yet they give it out like allergy to it is rare. I looked like a monster, with puffy face. She doesn't look puffy, but the chipmunk cheeks make it difficult to detect facial swelling in miss miley, so who knows. But at least it's better than the standard exhaustion story.

  22. Worst reaction to keflex is Steven Johnson syndrome - pretty rare. Something else is going on with Miley.

    ReplyDelete
  23. In the 80's, I had Don Johnson syndrome. Lots of blazers with sleeves pushed up, and loafers without soaks. It took a couple of years to fully recover.

    1. @oneeyecharlie oh my. I'm getting an image of your ailment as we speak...

  24. soaks? Apparently I pronounce socks like a Canadian; even while typing. Hi TTM!

    ReplyDelete
  25. It would be cool if she was in the same mental ward/rehab as Artie Lange.

    ReplyDelete
  26. katie: I had the same reaction to sulfa combined w/peridium during my first UTI...not fun AT ALL.

As for Miley: yes, it could be drugs/rehab, but it could be something medical as well. There's a lot of confusion as to what the problem that might call for antibiotics was (flu? sinus infection?), but between traveling, performing, any partying she might be doing, general stress, and losing her dog, it wouldn't be surprising if her resistance was shot to hell and she picked up something she's having a hard time fighting. There have also been suggestions she may have heart issues; I can see that being something they might want to monitor in-house for a while, but wouldn't necessarily want to have made public knowledge. Whatever the problem is, I wish her well and hope she's feeling much better very soon. (As for the better caliber of linens, I would imagine she's in what I think of as a "celebrity" room; they're usually a lot more private and have nicer furnishings, etc.)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yes you can have reaction that lasts up to 27 days. I read about it, apparently drug does damage that takes while to undo. She needs quiet time anyway, lol

    ReplyDelete
  28. She had the ABs for a sinus infection, which can definitely start up from the flu. All the congestion is a breeding ground for the bacteria to take over.

Allergic retains are nothing to joke about.

So this could definitely be true. I have absolutely no stake in Miley but just wanted to say we're being really cynical!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Allergic reactions not retain, sheesh!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Totally could use the quiet time. Heaven forbid she start thinking a bit less silly.

    Get better, lil twerkette!

  31. Hahaha!
    The porn flu.

  32. My dr just gave me that yesterday along with promethazine to combat this terrible upper respitory infection.

I think she's taken so many kinds of drugs while performing that her system got all messed up. She hasn't looked healthy for a long time. Taking drugs and not eating will make you sick. She's probably taking prescription drugs as well as her Molly and Mary Jane.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Charlie--you were just one of millions affected by that syndrome in the 80s. Thank goodness a cure was discovered and mostly everyone was cured by a good dose of the 90s.

    ReplyDelete
  35. also allergic to Sulfa---have had several reactions-moderate to severe

    none lasted 27 days.......more like 3 tops

    nah

    1. I had a crazy reaction to Sulfa once. It started w an ear infection, then allergic reaction, then another week for the ear infection. Since I stopped the medicine it took longer to recover from the original issue. So it's possible, but so is rehab.

  36. LMFAO at the Don Johnson syndrome. Oh my! I was about to say the same thing about treating a virus with an antibiotic but if she had a sinus infection, then it makes more sense.

Hey Robin! Long time no see. I agree her immune system is probably compromised with her schedule and dealing with the loss of a beloved pet. Hope she recovers faster than the 27 days. She's probably secretly happy she's getting some rest.

    ReplyDelete
  37. If she had a sinus infection, I'll guess snorting something helped it along.

  38. At least thousands of her brain-dead fans won't be subjected to her "singing" and sereneding her dead dog statue. They can thank me later when they come to their senses.

  39. My husband was close to death after a bad reaction to an antibiotic. his red blood cell count and platelet counts were close to zero.
after multiple transfusions and steroids he was out of the hospital in four days...not 27

  40. She is def in the hospital here in KC. A friend is a nurse on her floor and it is on total lock down. She WAS being a real bitch but then apologized to each of the nurses. Supposed to have been released yesterday or today to go home.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Shorty's tale of Miley is the same as Artie Lange's. Went into hospital for XYZ, went bitchy/crazy, then locked down for a month. I figure drugs found in their system. Too bad Miley didn't tweet about the mental ward.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Maybe she's allergic to low ticket sales? No idea how bad/not they might be tho

    ReplyDelete
  43. Sulfa was what almost killed my dad and b-i-l. I don't even want to try that one ever.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Evening everyone from New England. I'm a registered nurse and patients just don't stay in hospitals for 3 weeks anymore unless you are in a coma or have acute kidney or liver failure. Anaphylaxis is also life threatening, but she seems to be breathing fairly well from her photos. I wish her well anyway.

  45. Erythema multiforme vs. toxic epidermal necrolysis vs.Stevens Johnson syndrome =Hospitalizaion.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hospitalization, that is.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Pure conjecture but here's my theory: She had a skin related or respiratory infection of some sort (very common with drug users), had an allergic reaction. I'm #355345 on here today who had a massive allergic reaction to antibiotics. Weeks? No fucking way. She could easily take a picture at the hospital while she's in the ER or ICU knowing damn well she's either being transferred to an inhouse psych/rehab ward or headed to an outside rehab center. There have also been blinds about celebs who stage photo ops pre-rehab to have circulated while in treatment. Could be a ruse. Hope she gets better though, whatever this may be!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I hear it was an OD because she was trying some shit for the first time and mixed all sorts of other stuff with it. What the new shit was, I have no clue but it sounds about right for her to be hospitalized for a few days and being holed up there.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anonymous3:41 AM

I am betting it is Stevens Johnson's Syndrome. If so, she is lucky to be alive. You can get it from any drug. My friends wife nearly died and was hospitalized for over a month. I am betting this is what she has but, doubting they are being honest about the drug. It was probably Xanax or lamictal.

    1. JKR if you have Stevens Johnson Syndrome you look like shit (not like her photo post), you feel like shit, and you don't have the energy to text. You get rash on your body and sores in your mouth. All she had to do was just stay in hospital and STFU. Her publicist needs to give her a good spanking.

  50. I find it hard to believe that she's reached her early twenties without knowing she has a drug allergy, so I call bullshit on the anitbiotic story. Why not just admit that you're burnt out? It's not like anyone would be surprised. I mean, shit, her dog just died. That would send me into a state where I would want to hide under the covers for a month. I agree that it's probably something a lot more serious and/or shameful that she doesn't want to admit publicly, but the antibiotic story is so unbelievable. Anyone with half a brain knows it's bullshit and her PR team oughta be fired.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'll beat that her management team has a small army of lawyers on the ground with ready-to-sign non-disclosure agreements and wheelbarrows of cash to keep anyone even vaguely aware of the real story on lock down.
