Going great. Laundry done talked 45 mins with Daddy and heard some birth stories past mom's 28 hour labor " ...and Then they decided to TURN you...!" And on a rainy day off #3, I get to hang with all of you! Awesomesauce!
I Do have it better, at least my mom never grabbed her crotch when telling the story, btho she would rub the flat spot on top back part of my skull and say " it never did round out all the way, did it? " ~[< ( me giving her the squint eye)
Ok a series of concert clips. I've seen this happen at every concert I've been to pretty much. Anyways, what is the next book on our roster, birthday girl?!
Reno! You Goddess! That was what I was thinking about gaga, Airbrushing! ( all I could come up with was paint sprayer, lol) Isn't that freaky/amazing? I can just see what would happen with hangover hands...:-D
That's a great idea,Steamy! I am also gonna suggest shortening up the time line, it seems like everyone that read it read a bunch after and that made it trickier to remember / discuss. Everyone else just had fun, so I think it should work
2 weeks...10 days? I read 3 hours a day minimum. All I have to do is time it better before BC. I read it a little early for the original date but even still, we did good.
How about Kite Runner for next book/movie club? Or Gone Girl to get us ready for the movie? Other great books that aren't movies are The Red Tent ( highly reccomend, my absolute fave book on the planet), The Night Circus, The 19th Wife, Nineteen Minutes (a little rough to get through, emotionally), Middlesex, Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons. I could on, I love reading.
@Sherry, nope, I'm not pregnant. It was my annual birthday story from my mom, every year on my birthday, she would tell me the horrific story of her laboring to bring me into the world under the hands of incompetent military doctors in Panama. N No b' day was complete without it.:-D
IMy friend saw 'The Book Thief" and said she Had to buy it. High marks, there. I saw " The Life of Pi" and it was gorgeous, I'd be interested in the book. Serena and Monuments Men ( on my like 14 books) look good...
I can vouch for the loveliness of "The Life of Pi". It is one of my favorite books. Haven't seen the beginning of the movie but I'll be damned if they didn't do a nice job with it.
Sugar aren't you in SF? Yes, you will be warm on Wed and Thur although I may have exaggerated on that 90 degrees. May be up to 85 or so though.
Steamy: Got it. Ever listen to Prairie Home? They always do a skit with mom calling Dwayne she talks about how big his head was and it ruined her for other kids because they were afraid they'd drop out! LOL...Reminded me of that.
I love listening to Prairie on my way Home from work. If I time it right, I pull in just after ' the News from Lake Wobegon'. Sometimes I have to keep driving...:-)
Oh, I second Gone Girl, even though I may be the only person on the planet not to get to it yet. I checked it out and never had time during school. Have too many of you guys read it already?
I will rock some of my infamous gold margaritas on the rocks, rimmed with 1/2 sugar and topped with Gran Marnier... PLUS Dipsey Doodle Straws! Happy to come, birthday Califblondie! I hope you visit a winery in the strong spring sun and relax I under the shade of their leaves... And figs( not sure why but...figs) And cheese, fruit and a friend. If I don't see you, on Sunday, this is where you are :-)
It is absolute quiet time when the news from Lake Wobegone comes on. The best part of the show IMO. Gonna miss Garrison when he leaves. I do hope he stays on as a writer. No good without Sara Bellum.
This is the Happy Birthday Steamy thread, right?? How is your day, awesome lady?

DeleteTTM, apparently we have entered into the family lore.
DeleteMy brother got the , projectile vomiter attached to him, lol.
We got lucky( I think) O:-)
I wouldn't mind it so much if my mom didn't clutch her chest and yelp every.single.time she tells the story...
DeleteI Do have it better, at least my mom never grabbed her crotch when telling the story, btho she would rub the flat spot on top back part of my skull and say " it never did round out all the way, did it? "

Isn't that freaky/amazing? I can just see what would happen with hangover hands...:-D
How about we do a book that has been turned into a movie? Some watch the movie and others watch the movie ( or both).
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea,Steamy! I am also gonna suggest shortening up the time line, it seems like everyone that read it read a bunch after and that made it trickier to remember / discuss. Everyone else just had fun, so I think it should work
DeleteCan I get in on this literary action
DeleteTTM, Thank God you understood :-) I meant read the book or both for anyone not as astute as TTM...
DeleteAbsolutely, Brea, the more the merrier! Hey, do you have a suggestion for a book? We're gonna decide on something for this next one

That's a great list, JS, are you coming to BC?? That would be AWESOME!
Delete@JSierra, loved The Red Tent and 19 Minutes is my second favorite Picoult book!
DeleteThe Red Tent, is that the nomad story /the examination of theRuth in the bible?
Delete@Steampunk, it's the story of Dinah, daughter of the Biblical Jacob and Leah. I would describe it as the Biblical Steel Magnolias. :b
DeleteThe Red Tent
Books into movies

Can somebody clicky?
Nice to see everyone at the designated meeting spot. Hopefully no one will get PO'd for the OT here since no one watches the damn videos anyway.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand the "turning" thing. Are you talking about when the baby turns to get ready for birth? Are you preggo Steamy?
Lovely day in the bay area with warmer temps through the week. It may be 90 in San Francisco on Wednesday. That makes them cry there.
