May 26,2013

This B- list mostly television actress is not even waiting to find a new guy in her life. The actress, from a very hit show is going to do IVF and a sperm donor because she is so desperate to have more children now that her youngest has weaned.

  1. Tick tock, I get it.

Diaper your baby, Blossom!! Ain't nobody need those accidents! And let 'im sleep in his own bed!

  3. Blossom give us a break. How's Six doing with her family?

  4. I don't see anything wrong with this, prince charming is not around every corner and if she wants to have a child without being tied to it's father for 18yrs, then more power to her!

  5. This seems unlikely for many reasons, the least of which she doesn't strike me as desperate.

  6. @Tara, least of which is that she apparently isn't pregnant a year later (unless Enty is pre emptying an announcement).
She does set my teeth on edge though - she is just so worthy.

  8. Why didn't she do it yet? Truthfully I think she wanted Jim to donate the sperm.

  9. I don't believe this one. I follow Mayim on Facebook and Kveller and I...I just don't believe this. I think she's even alluded to believing that two are plenty, at least for now anyway.

(Also, TTM, her youngest is five, I think. He's surely got pants on by now, LOL.)

    1. Hmmmm, AKM, I meant the new baby-to-be, but if her youngest is FIVE, no way is he just weaned like in the blind??

  10. She is not B-list. Probably D-list. If she wants IVF why not? She is a good mum albeit a bit weird but who isnt.

  11. Eh, actually, I think she BF until he was four, so I guess that would fit the blind. I don't have kids and even if I did, that wouldn't be my thing, but, uh...whatever floats her AP boat? Much of that I get, being a hippie-at-heart myself, but most of it...um, no. ;-)

(And you're right...watch your step if you go to her house for dinner when she has another baby. Bwahahaha.)

  12. @Habibti - Not WKing because I really like her, but being on "TBBT" alone puts her at B list, at least for the time being. Right?

  13. Oh, Sheldon, you giant jerk. Get her preggers already! Amy Farrah Fowler desperately wants to breastfeed!

    Um, yeah.

  14. @Cleo: It aint that she cares about being tied to a dad, she got an unhealthy need to have someone dependent on her.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hey @Violet, a woman can try for IVF and still not get pregnant. I just doubt MB did. I think this was an easy blind to write in light of her public breastfeeding stance. She set my teeth as Blossom, but I do like her on Big Bang.

  16. she most likely used her eggs and donor sperm in a surogate to not slow down her career.
good for her she does not need a man, she knows she justs wants kids.
she also does that attachment parenting thing where kids sleep in bed/ breastfeed till 6.

  17. No idea if this is even remotely true, but I freakin' love her on TBBT.

  18. "It aint that she cares about being tied to a dad, she got an unhealthy need to have someone dependent on her."

This. I like her, esp on TBBT, I don't have a problem with IVF or having kids without a man in your life, but I give a side-eye to women who need to have another kid once the youngest is "weaned". That can't be mentally healthy. Work out your issues, Blossom.

  19. If she loves being a mom and she's got the financial means, good for her. Although since she hasn't done the deed yet one has to wonder how true this blind really is.

And while it's not always great for a marriage with a baby in the bed don't most societies have kids sleeping with the parents? Seems almost cruel to carry them for 9 months and then take them to a crib to sleep. The bonding seems like a good thing to me. But then I don't have no bebehs.

I agree with AKM, two ARE plenty, for someone who parents the way she does. Now if you are Michelle Duggar and don't give a rat's ass who raises your kids and pawn them off onto your three and four year old daughters to raise, then who cares, keep pumping out the little future NPD authoritarians to make more soldiers to fight corporate wars. For Mayin who takes parent-child bonding to it's most logical extreme, no WAY would I sign up for this without support of a partner.

  21. What's cruel in my opinion is accidentally rolling on top of your helpless infant and suffocating them to death

    ReplyDelete
  22. Blossom?? Wow that was a surprise.

  23. Ruby...do some research on co sleeping and sids (crib death) before you make foolish remarks.

  24. Bs on this. Year later and no bambino.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sorry alice, I agree with ruby. I have seen too many docs and real life cases of this, one just last month in my town. Infant smothered while sleeping with the mom. My son and his wife has a criblike thingy that attatched to side of bed so baby right there but in own bed. And it happened plenty in olden times, its why cribs were originally invented.

  26. I've studied medicine for twenty years, worked in a level I trauma dept. in a major city for fifteen and I've yet to see a case. It is extremely rare, and the vast majority of cases occur when the adult is under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
The fact remains that the number of infants who die in a crib for any reason far out number those that have died while co sleeping.

And no disrespect to you @auntlibby, but I think the bit about the invention of cribs is amusing. :)

    1. Well, allis, lah-de-dah. I dont know where in the world you worked or 'studied', but I know of plenty of real life cases, inc example I gave above. Sids or crib death has not to with suffocating a baby sleeping in bed with adult. Its a bad idea, just plain is. And you find info about cribs " amusing"? Wtf? We are talking about dead babies! No offense.

  29. "Looking only at the IVF treatments that used fresh embryos from non-donor eggs, the number of women under the age of 35 who gave birth using IVF was about 40%, compared with only 31% for women between the ages of 35 and 37. Only 3.9% of 42-year-olds got pregnant as a result of IVF treatment."

  32. As far as Kids in Bed w/ Parents v. Sleeping Alone, you can't look at gross #'s for incidents, because far more Sleep Alone. I think it is loony, not for saftey reason, for damaged parents reasons. Sleep in the same bed, home school, etc, just seems like control issues, paranoia, neediness and clingyness.

Children are your property, you can fuck em up however you want, but don't be shocked when someone calls you a lunatic for having a 6 year old on your tit.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm not what you'd call an attachment parent so I'm admittedly bias but this rubs me the wrong way. I've seen women get so caught up in this that they can't move on from this stage of parenting and therefore they need to keep having babies. She's done extended nursing so it's not like her youngest is 2. I know adoption isn't for everyone but without breast feeding it's probably not worth it for her b/c her needs are so emeshed with the child's. She's also super religious so maybe that plays some part in all of it too?

    ReplyDelete
  34. When I said "cruel" I didn't mean it as maliciously mean but more of a ripping a sucking babe from the breast. It seems like the baby is so close to your heartbeat and then they aren't there anymore.

NOW remember I have no children and I certainly do not offer any advice on parenting, gawd fahbid! A question though, isn't that one of the reasons why people swaddle their children? Seriously I don't know.

And on the note of rolling over and smothering your child, even I who have never mothered, still has a maternal instinct. Stupid parallel but when I first got my cats they would sleep under the covers (actually still do) as kittens. My fiancé at the time rolled over on Lucy and I woke IMMEDIATELY because I knew. She made no sound. It was odd but I think moms are very aware of what is happening more in the bed versus a basinet or room with monitor away.

And I think by 6-12 months they would be fine on their own. Not talking about a 7 yr old sleeping with parents. Just my observation. As a non parent of course.

Guess this goes to the round of choices like to breast feed or not, etc.

  37. I 2nd auntliddy! The danger in co sleeping or an infant sleeping with anything that can end up in front of their airways is that some don't have the REFLEX to start breathing again if their breathing is obstructed. It's like not being able to blink or swallow and no amount of attachment is going to get you around SIDS.
Allis, I don't like your tone but I guess that comes from studying medicine for 20 yrs (but not being a dr). I suspect you don't see infants suffering from SIDS in your trauma unit because they die from it!

  40. I subscribe to attachment parenting and my youngest weaned herself at a year. My older two were about the same age, although maybe went a few months longer.

Mayim was just certified a lactation counselor and offers her services for free to women who are having trouble breastfeeding. I think that's wonderful.

And although a lot of kooks homeschool, not everyone homeschools for crazy reasons. Some just want to give their kids a level of attention and education that they simply couldn't receive in a class of a dozen or more other kids.

  41. Pretty insulting to suggest that IVF is a sign of desperation.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I work in an Emergency room and have personally scanned an average of one baby per year who has died of hypoxia due to smothering while co-sleeping. I live in a relatively small town.

When someone says they have "studied medicine for 20 years" but he/she isn't a doctor or a nurse, what the hell does that even mean?
