The finale was good, but not finale material IMO. HOWEVER TWD finales rarely are big shebangs that leave you gasping. I did really enjoy this season though, despite the pace.
Since several people were expressing love for Bill Murray last week, thought I'd post these photos from the Caddyshack tournament showing how made a veteran's evening the best in a while. Random Act of Murray
I thought it was a good episode, but not for a finale. They spent so much time following the individual characters with not much happening in each episode that I feel they could have condensed the 6 or so episodes where not much happened into 3 or 4 and then progressed the Terminus story line a little further instead of giving us a big middle finger and laughing at us now that we have to wait until late Oct/early Nov for new episodes to show us what exactly is going to happen at Terminus. As a good friend described - it's like having tv blue balls for 6 months. Not fun.
@Sara "tv blue balls" --HA! I like your friend's phrase.
I really enjoyed the finale. I guess it's the type of finale I expect from TWD. The letdown in the second half of the season for me was not having everyone together, but it made sense and allowed some of the actors a chance to shine.
I think on par for walking dead season finale. Showing the prison in one last finale, getting off the farm in another is similar to leaving us with the terminus people as next challenge. With exception of Andrea, big deaths of Shane, Dale, Lori, Herscel etc never occurred in season finale-too easy set up to "expect" major death in last ep.
Finally!! (Been waiting all morning for a Walking Dead thread! Ha! I thought it was good! I'm glad the old Rick is back! Have seen some other info about this Terminus..
WAy too many filler episodes this season. When you have 16 eppies a year every one should be perfect.
From what I have read Terminus is a combination of the comics The Hunters who were tracking cannibals and the video game a Farm which while seems inviting is really a family of cannibals. Both are a pretty horrible group to be caught up in. Seems like they have made them a cult of cannibals. Like Scientologists but with really creepy eating habits.
The only thing I will take away this season is 'don't look at the flowers' and finally Rick rising back up to be a bad ass that kicks ass (and chews necks).
Looking more forward to Game of Thrones, Orphan Black, Mad Men and True Blood's final season this spring/summer.
Lol that was funny. Yea I got weird science teacher vibe too.. I thought I was seeing things but when they ran by one of the garage/rooms, it looked like it was full of severed bloody limbs. It was so quick though. So I wasn't sure.
Question about Orphan Black - I just started getting into it and I'm like 5 or 6 episodes in but they only show them on Sundays (two epi's @ a time) and I want to be caught up by the 19th - does anyone know if they are doing a marathon? I watch it on BBC America. Much appreciated! :)
I disagree somewhat Enty. I loved it. Especially when he gutted that nasty pedo. My bf had to calm me down cause I did a victory shout. I totally got that. He went into a prehistoric black rage and that totally made him my hero. Anyone messes with your loved ones that is what they deserve imo.
The last scenes could have been better but oh well. Its still one of my favorite shows.
I thought it was a great season finale. And watching Rick go medieval on Joe's group was intense. Nice to see he's finally at peace with doing what's necessary. Very interested to see how they're gonna get out of the pickle they've gotten themselves into. Gonna be a looooooong wait til October. TV blue balls indeed!!
The season finale was wack with the flashbacks, but I liked the season as a whole. I thought I read a blind about a series showing the star that it could go on without them in it. I think that's what TWD did.
I felt this last half of the season was more of a return to form. I lived it, having said that, I LOATHE the trend of splitting up seasons.... What did happen to Beth? Think I missed that ep, she cark it?? The last ep with Carole and the two girls made me weep like a baby....
I love TWD but this season pissed me right off. Loads of episodes of whispering whingers looking at fires and going round in circles in a forest. They could have moved it along. I knew Terminus was gonna be full of cannibals. I said it weeks ago. I hope the next season is a bit more action packed.
I think the finale was overall very well done, but the ending felt more like a let down, largely in part due to how fucking AWESOME that middle fight scene was! It's hard to top, let alone match that intensity. Rick's move was really unexpected, which is something I think the audience really needed.
That being said, I do miss a lot of the earlier themes that were a big chunk of the first two seasons. Back then, it was really interesting to see how TWD dissected some fundamental concepts, such as the right to die, human agency and personal outlooks on life and others (and walkers) in general. However, I also appreciate that they are trying to push the show in a new direction thematically by instead looking at the limits of human resiliency and compassion.
In any case, love TWD and they have the best writing team out there right now. I've been lucky enough to attend some events for the writers of TWD and BrBa. Those. Fucking. Geniuses.
Anyways, here are some Daryl memes to hold us over until our next Dix(on) fix: POW
Well said Lady H! I'm a new fan to TWD, watched first three seasons in three days, this season on marathon before finale, still so pumped I might go back and watch it from beginning! I'm hooked! I'm glad they didn't kill off Rick, I heard rumors so was too glad he was alive at the end and back to his old ass kicking self! Oh and thanks for the Daryl pics!:)
They got rid of Lori and Andrea, so everything has been gravy for me! I thought there were too many flashbacks and since the season is split, the big episode (major death of a character) happens mid-season now. As long as I can see Rick, Daryl, and Michonee, I'm happy.
Best season and great finale, IMO. They did a great job developing every character this season and giving them a story, which makes a show great overall. Finale was also amazing, because it showed a great progression from Rick-the-leader to Rick-the-Farmer and back to Rick-the-leader again. I don't mind the cliffhanger either, makes me look forward to October even more. I really don't get why people complain about nothing happening, because I think a lot had happened this season and it shouldn't be all about killing zombies. The show has a great storyline and characters, if it was just about smashing up some zombies, it would be boring and stupid.
The finale was good, but not finale material IMO. HOWEVER TWD finales rarely are big shebangs that leave you gasping. I did really enjoy this season though, despite the pace.

ReplyDeleteSo awesome!
DeleteI thought the finale was spot on, since we are left in anticipation as to what exactly is Terminus?

DeleteComic book fans don't even know about Terminus, it's something they added to the show.

ReplyDeleteIt was. Such a shame.

ReplyDeleteThey r cannibles(sp)
DeleteJade - Yes! For weeks I've been saying "Don't go to Terminus! It has to be cannibals!"
DeleteThe Mr. Told me, then we saw
DeleteThe bones on that blue tarp! Omg! Glad Carol and tyreese not there I hope! It's going to be forever til oct!
I liked how they changed-up the second part of the season but was very ready for everyone to get back together. Loved the show last night.
ReplyDeleteYeah Terminus is a bunch of cannibalistic weirdos and Eugene is just some high school science teacher playing the pied scientist piper.

Timebob GoT is this Sunday, correct? Orphan Black still has another two weeks :(

DeleteWoops this should have been under terminus reply
Deleteyes @J Game of Thrones starts Sunday with a promising new series from Mike Judge Silicon Valley at 10pm
ReplyDeleteMad Men starts April 13
Orphan Black starts April 19 on BBCA at 9pm

ReplyDelete@MissInfo I haven't heard of them doing a marathon but the whole season is on demand if you get that. I have Time Warner and they have BBCA on Demand.
ReplyDeleteIt is only 10 episodes a season so you should be all caught up by Saturday April 19
Did anyone watch the Talking Dead? Andrew Lincoln was hilarious when telling the story about Joe's neck being made of raw chicken.

Someone in an old Cadillac took her, Daryl didn't get to her in time.

ReplyDeleteToo many flashbacks to the prison life with Hershel and too many commercials!
ReplyDeleteThanks @Jade Knickerboxers!
