Your Turn

Horoscopes? Tarot Card readings? Do you believe in any of these types of things?

    Other than that, no.

  2. No. Nor religion either if you're interested. Control of the masses through hocus pocus nonsense.

    1. Stalin and Mao have killed more people in history than any other human. And they were atheists. MLK Jr and Mother Theresa were Christians.

It's not the idea of belief, but the people who use it for bullshit that is the problem. Organized religion is bad but just believing that there's something else out there watching over us? Nothing wrong with that.

  5. Back in the day, when I was a day camp counselor, I did a tarot card reading for a male counselor. The basic outcome was that he would have money issues and a problem with authority. Later that afternoon, he had a fight with the director and was fired.

    1. @loopy - vague possibilities using general life events experienced by everybody which are then tailored to fit a particular personal event does not make tarot cards a truth.

  6. I believe in them but I don't believe in the hoards of people claiming to be clairvoyant. There are a select few and they do not advertise their services.

  7. Hi everyone. I just wanted to take a moment and go OT if that is ok.

A year ago today my nephew Ben was injured. I want to thank you all for your thoughts, love, prayers and support. They have meant the world to me and to my family.

March 20th is the day that Benjamin passed. If you remember, will you please take one second out of the day and send some love out in the world?

Matt was sentenced to 20 years in prison but will only serve 5. While I feel this is not justice on Earth, I am comforted that he will one day be Judged Eternally.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

    xo
    Liz

    1. @Cocoa, right? I was 17 and probably one of the oldest counselors, so we were freaking out for the rest of the day. The fight came out of nowhere, too, and it was in front of most of us. Crazy.

  11. I've been reading tarot for over 40 years now.
Do I believe it's the cards? Hell no. I do believe that the images on the cards help trigger associations that I'm able to interpret.
That being said, I don't ask questions prior to a reading, and I certainly don't presume that what I'm seeing is inevitable, only the most likely progression of events if no action is taken.
    So, yeah, I'm a believer. I'm also a world class skeptic...if I didn't have the accuracy I did, I wouldn't believe.

  13. Horoscopes to predict the future...no. I do believe that people with the same sun sign have extremely similar personality traits. Without knowing a person, I've been able to guess their sign.

Tarot cards are just tools used. Kinda like the evil ouija board. I think a clairvoyant or psychic uses these to lay out what their thoughts are and it helps them to explain and see clearer.

Anyway...with that being said, I've never been to a psychic my whole life that has ever been correct about anything important. Only one psychic that I went to is pretty much on the money, and she's a witch in Salem. Inexpensive and nailed stuff on the head that you can't just make up. I believe there are few people who have the gift...very few. I believe 95% are scammers.

  16. Hugs to you Robot. Hard to believe it's been a year. And wasn't there the t-shirt debacle along with that as well? Am I getting that mixed up?

Merlin I read Tarot as well and also do not ask any questions prior to a read either. I feel like it can be an influence in how I interpret the cards.

Now have I made decisions based on my reads for myself? Sadly yes. Was it a bad thing..Not necessarily.

Also I've had my horoscope done several times. I find them fascinating.

  17. One time a psychic told my great-aunt that her husband was seeing his first wife every day instead of going to work. She followed him the next day--he got dressed and took his (empty) briefcase to the cemetary and sat by his first wife's grave all day and talked to her. He'd been pretending to go to work after he'd lost his job (not sure for how long). Surprising no one, this led to their divorce.

  18. Robot - I remember your story we'll and will be thinking of you and sweet Ben on 3/20. Many hugs to you.

I don't often read my horoscope, but I am as Pisces as a person can be. I also had a psychic reading by Echo Bodine (I think she had a ghost busters show on cable) when I was 20 and I listened to a tape recording of it maybe a decade later and she was spot-on.

  19. Yes and no. I I interpret potential future thru the lens of my past influenced present, that said, I'm pretty gullible. ;-) if you tell me I will have money troubles, I will think about money issues. Doesn't mean you are right.

  20. That's actually really touching that he would do that, Karen. Who knows? He may have felt like he was failing your great-aunt and wanted to vent to someone he felt had loved him unconditionally.

    Sad :(

  21. @Bacon Ranch, judging from other stories, the guy was a headcase and a liar. Still, he was better than her first two husbands (who coincidentally wound up sharing a jail cell years later).

  25. I believe. Why not? Who's to say it's not real? You honestly never know. I like astrology and I can spot a fellow Scorpio from a mile away. We are usually the ones calling the shots in relationships- Leo DiCaprio, Julia Roberts, Ryan Gosling, Ryan Reynolds, etc. Like minded!

  26. I believe and yet im a skeptic, which is weird. I also read tarot cards. Once we went out with a bunch of couples and i got roped into reading for everybody, including guy i didnt know from adam. First of all, almost all his cards were upside down which is usually negative. As i read, it got worse and worse-you will have trouble with law, you're a scammer, youre dishonest, something law and children, huge money losses, a flight. He never flinched, but it got so bad I started making stuff up. Well few months later, this guy was arrested for stock fraud, he had scammed his date and her father. He also kidnapoed his children and was apprehended fleeing by cops. Now how can that possibly be explained? I had no info. Things like this make life fun and interesting.

  27. Fuck yeah I do!!!
    I did tarot last wk.
I have a shitty court date Wednesday,
& me & my ex are going thru a nasty custody battle.
I got the Devil reversed, which shows the Lovers in the card, no longer being chained together.
Thank fukn god. I hate that dude.
    We'll never be homies again.

& I read my Cancer horoscope daily.

  28. I'm with those that believe and are skeptic. Santeria is a very interesting religion. There's a master voodoo guy in CA that has some pretty famous people in his "black book" that he does work for. It's also a religion not to play around with. Crazy stuff

  29. I read a bunch of them everyday since years ago but I don't believe any because all that experience. Anyway, it's interesting because they always give good advice (none of them says "kill your boss", "f-word your married neigbour" or "put a bomb in a pressure cooker" for example).

  30. Prayers Robot to Jesus for your nephew. No, I don't have tarot readings etc because the Bible says not to. And it creeps me out. However, I'm a huge hypocrite as I love gossip and have broken a lot of the 10 commandments (except murder). But, I believe that we are created by a loving a God that sent His own son to die for us. Believe in Him and you'll get to Heaven. Simple. But, I respect others beliefs if they respect mine. Nobody's perfect..be humble.

  31. I believe in psychic ability - mine.

Seriously. But I call it my "once removed" psychic ability.

    Examples:

I met a guy in the park with his dog and for some reason I called his dog Jasmine. He said "No, her name is Baby but the dog I had before her was named Jasmine."

I meet a couple of little girls sitting outside a cafe, their mom goes in to get their lunch, I start chatting with them, ask if I can guess their names. I guess Madison and Amelia. They say no, wrong - but their mother's name is Amelia.

I often meet people and then the next time I see them I call them by the wrong name. And it's ALWAYS the name of one of their siblings that I've never met or even heard of.

I met this guy and his dog ... the next time I saw him I called his dog Bodie and he said "that's so weird, that's the name of my sister's dog in Texas!"

    Happens ALL THE TIME.

Now if I could only make money off it :-)

  32. I'm an open minded skeptic, if that makes sense.
I think many things are possible, but I've yet to see convincing proof.
I feel the same way about religion, although I lean more towards skepticism there.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I have seen zero evidence of anything paranormal nor supernatural.
If amy evidence shows up, I will be openminded.

  34. I've had my cards read a number of times. Most of it's the same old, same old, but I've seen a couple of psychics who were completely astounding. There was one years ago that was friends with my mom. A lot of psychics have told me that I'd have two kids. Frances told me I'd have three but only raise two - the third wouldn't die, and she said it would be "complicated" but she didn't know any other details. Well, without going into a long, long story, I've got three kids and am raising two. No, it's not a custody situation or anything else. Like I said, it's complicated. *L*

  37. I'm on the fence with this because I've had such uncanny experiences. I was 21 when I had this Mexican psychic, who spoke no English, actually predict my first husband, my second husband, and me having twins. She kept asking me if I was in love with a Hispanic man a lot older than me and, at the time, my boyfriend was Greek, so I said "no." She said I would marry this Hispanic man, but divorce him and live overseas (which I did) and much later, would marry a man from a foreign country and have twins. All of it happened pretty much the way she predicted it. It's funny because this was her first reading for me and the second time I went, none of what she said ever happened.

  39. A Ouija board once told me I'd win the Pulitzer Prize for a book called "Rearing Ladies." I was about 14 at the time.

I'm not a writer but if I ever write a book that's sure as hell going to be the title.

I just don't know if it will be a novel, an etiquette book, flat out porn, or a tell-all about Hollywood actors and their predilections.

  40. I think the tarot is a good tool to use when trying to draw out what is in a person's subconscious, but aside from that, no. Horoscopes aren't useful because they can be limiting, self-fulfilling prophecies. I don't believe in psychics, either.

    ReplyDelete
  41. @Merlin D. Bear : I've been reading the Tarot for 25 years, and you are 100% correct. My favorite read is a complete stranger over the phone - they can't drop all those physical cues that people do. Helps keep my skills sharp, too.

  42. Been into astrology 35years. It works for me. I know a channeler who can be scary right or pretty wrong. She's got a 75% accuracy rate so I'm impressed. Am pretty good with tarot. People ask me a lot if I rember what I told them that had come true. Can't do it for myself though.
