Today's Blind Items - The Show Had To Be Canceled

Most of the time when a show is at its peak is not when it is canceled. This show was at its peak and viewership was at a high and it could have run for many more years. The cast all wanted it to run for more years, but the network pulled the plug. They were scared of the show. There were too many instances where the network had to put out a fire that would have ruined the image of the show. There were too many drugs on the set and too much sex and the network didn't want a scandal. They just wanted the show to stop filming and to get rid of it as fast as possible. Of course, in their haste they left behind two cast members who were going to turn out just as bad. While the show was being filmed, guest stars would show up high or know they could get great drugs even though the cast was so young. There are episodes that cast members don't even remember shooting because they were so wasted. The sex was everywhere and the problem for the network was the age of the cast. Some were above 18 and some were below 18 and parents were always calling and screaming and executives feared everyday there would be some type of statutory rape claim or some lawsuit filed by a parent or extra on the show. Everyday the show aired the network felt like they were rolling dice. You had to knock before opening a closed door because inevitably someone would be doing drugs or having sex. No wonder the cast kept wanting to shoot the show. One of the bigger drug users and sexually active cast member was given her own show, or close to her own show. She had producers fooled into thinking she was an innocent cast member and they paired her up with someone who spouted bible verses and producers thought went to church multiple times each week.

  4. I have no guesses but I'm going to go all B Profane for a minute and point out that TV shows are taped, not filmed. Movies are filmed.

Also, it's polite to knock on closed doors - they're dressing rooms and people might be in a state of mid-dress.

    B Profanish out

  5. From Wikipedia:
"On August 10, 2012, Victoria Justice stated that the series would not be renewed.[3] Justice also said that Victorious was the number one show on Nick and she did not know why it was cancelled.[4] Dan Schneider added in a blog post that Nickelodeon often ends shows after about 60 episodes. Even though he and the cast would have been willing to shoot more episodes, the network decided to end the series. "

  8. I think Victoria Justice, it had alot of cast members but Icarly had more guests and the new show is Sam and Kat (sp?) Which goes with "almost own show". Jeanette or Ariana and there is all that crap with Perez accusing Ariana of a coke problem but there seem to be a million blinds about Jeanette. I could go either way but I'm picking Victoria Justice. Those kids seemed wilder.

  9. Victorious makes sense. Ariana Grande is now on a show on Nick with another girl.

  11. were there any blinds about victoria?

  13. Nick does usually cancel shows after 3-4 seasons. I remember reading about that years ago. iCarly was an exception running for five years, but that was one of Nick's biggest hits ever it seems. Drake and Josh was a classic (look at how Josh Peck's Vine has taken off and a recent third movie announcement was massively well-received) and only lasted for 57 episodes. They know they can't have 27-year-old actors keeping a kid's interest for 10 years, so they don't let the shows age too long.

  14. I'll say Firefly, just because I'm still mad about it being cancelled :)

  17. Victorious makes sense, it is a Nick tweener show, sow drug and sex scandals involving cast and crews would be much WORSE public affairs mess for them it it came out.

  18. I think Jennette McCurdy but only bc of the blinds about her boning all the producers plus she's on TMZ and ROL about leaked photos in her underoos.

  19. Sounds like Flubby got it and it had that creep Dan Schneider as part of it too.

  22. Disney/Nick shows always end abruptly with high ratings. The cast gets too old or/and they can always make another one that will do just as well. I think i heard they are meant to have a 2 yr life span. I think this is a regular network show.

  23. I know nothing about Victorious but to me this sounds like it's older so my vote is for Freaks and Geeks. Tons of known druggies on that show, and everyone's gone on to other stuff.

  26. Can't be Icarly. That show was a lot, lot more depraved behind the scenes. That blind sounds a bit tame for Icarly. So I think it's Victorious.

    Ke$ha guest starred on Victorious.

  29. Freaks and Geeks was an amazing show. The episode where Bill eats grilled cheese and cake is balls. I also love the episode where the boys have a party and Bill sits in Sams room and gets drunk while watching Dallas. Awesome.

  32. @josh how was icarly more depraved. Enty always used to say that miranda was one of the few genuinely nice and normal Hollywood girls. Spill your tea if you have proof she wasn't.

  33. Change my mind...That 70's Show.

  34. I say it's Victorious as well. Victoria Justice is known as a good girl, but the rest .Ariana Grande strikes me as a huge phony.....she's also BFF with Jeannette McCurdy who's getting rep as a huge, drunken skank

  35. "That 70s Show" ran for like, 8 or 9 years, and the ratings went down once Eric & Kelso left. The only one that was underage was Mila Kunis, and none of them got their own show on the network after it ended.

  36. None of the female stars got their own show after Freaks and Geeks ended. One of my favorite one season shows ever.

  37. Fernwood Tonight. Happy Kline was a junkie.

  38. It's not Freaks and Geeks. I had a friend who was a VP at NBC at the time and really championed the show, but then-president Garth Ancier just never got it, and it wasn't pulling in ratings.

Garth Ancier is the man who put Angie Harmon on L&O. That is all.

  39. iCarly for the show that got canceled with the out of control cast. Jannette McCurdy is the actress with a huge drug problem that got "almost her own show" the show being Sam and Cat. Cat being Ariana Grande from Victorious who is the church goer (my ass) done and done!

  40. I think this sounds like that MTV show Skins. Read the Wikipedia entry.

  41. That 70's Show was WELL past it's sell by date when it left the airwaves. It was actually an 80's show by the time it left the air.

I want to say Full House to this blind, except everyone was leaving that show when it was abruptly canceled by ABC due to being too expensive. Stamos and Saget would not go to the new network, NBC, who wanted it.

    ReplyDelete
  42. @musical - you're the only person that was thinking what I was thinking (Skins), but then who would be the person that got their almost-own show? THAT part of it does sound like Jeanette McCurdy (aka Sam), but I find it hard to believe that iCarly was the show with the "wild" cast. Unless the drugs being referred to are roofies and the rampant sex was the pedophilia being perpetrated by that Pederast producer Schneider.

Hee hee. Totally unintended tongue twister - pedophilia perpetrated by Pederast producer.
