Apparently Matt moved out of the house but not off the property. He wants to do his own thing and wants to be able to do it in front of Amy which is kind of a low blow. Just leave if you are going to leave. A dating site for little people has already reached out to Matt and wants him to be their spokesperson and is trying to set him up. Knowing Matt and his chance to earn a buck and some more fame, he will do it. I just hope he respects Amy enough to not bring his dates back to the farm.
That's too bad! They actually seemed like a good team, although he was a drinker, right?

I used to watch the show and it's no surprise these two are separated. He sounds like a spoiled child most of the time (it's my way or the highway) and she just came across as fed up with him most of the time.
ReplyDeleteI really do believe that if Matt brought a date home, Amy probably wouldn't care. I do think the two of them did try to stick out but it got to be too much.
Honestly, I'd be shocked if they did not wind up divorcing.
Maybe its just the show, but he comes off as a bit of a jerk. They haven't even pretended to get along for forever and have probably been separated for at least a couple of years.

I am getting mighty cynical, sorry.
I dont get why everyone is all team amy. I watched show few seasons. Amy barely tolorated him and it was easy to see she had no love or respect for him. Amy's WAY too involved with her kids-hanging out with them, playing games with them. It was unnatural-you need your own life and so do they. And as for money rolling in then matt changes, its been 10 years since show aired, so theres a bit of time. I found her to be a cold person.

ReplyDeleteI think they both seem like great people, but just so different. She's practical, he's a dreamer. Maybe they could complement each other, or maybe they could annoy each other...and usually it seemed like the latter. Sometimes I could see why she was annoyed, but then other times she seemed like a killjoy too. I don't think he'd do well on his own, though.

DeleteI used to like Amy...until I found out what a religious gay hater she is and how racist her kids are. That really depressed me. Also, her kids barely graduated from a mediocre religious highschool (the youngest boy was kicked out.) Amy is essentially as lazy a parent as Matt is; neither makes their kids work or clean or do homework or develop discipline. Amy and Matt both just want to play with their kids and hang out with their kids' friends.
ReplyDeleteThe only Roloff I like anymore is the short twin, Zachery. He's creating some distance and developing his own goals, away from his horrible twin brother (that kid is horrible) and his lazy, unmotivated parents.
I can see Amy being a pain in the ass, but he is one of those guys who always has a scam going and is trying to squeeze a buck out of a rock. I really don't have alot of respect for him from what I've seen of the show (hint for people who are considering reality TV) but she did seem a bit controlling (see previous comment and consider how editing effects reality TV)

ReplyDeleteAmazed when I read how hateful- yes. hateful- they are toward gays and others, but then I thought. Even tho they are little people, they still grew up in bumblef*ck in a repressed so called christian church. We have all people who think like this. Makes me glad I grew up in and near NYC, where you see everything and everyone, lol. Also, growing up, I never heard ONE biased word from either of my parents. I thank them for that.
ReplyDelete@auntliddy- I grew up in The South and was NEVER exposed to the mindset such as the Roloffs. It's a relatively new phenomenon, this deliberate intolerance and prideful ignorance, that has the "heartland" gripped in an iron fist. There was plenty of female couples living together, "sharing expenses" where I grew up. No doubt many were lesbians (in retrospect) and my parents and grandparents knew it. It just wasn't talked about or considered controversial.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what my grandmother would have done in her old age without her gay admirers who took her to shows and out shopping. Was their sexuality important? Hell no.
The complicated world of black/white interdependence isn't something I can discuss in one comment. There is no justification for the discrimination of those times.
There was a huge measure of tolerance for everyone in the Southern world I was raised in. Did minorities have legal equal rights? Nope, nor did women. But socially there was considerable acceptance. Something changed in the 1980's. An ugliness took hold that put up insurmountable boundaries which I now also see in the Roloffs (and many others.) It's about white male control over everything, their ability to do whatever they please and destroy anything in their path (Jeremy Roloff's abuse of animals and bullying at school are prime examples) while maintaining a "moral" superiority...just because. Any sort of decency was squashed by mega-church dogma and political take overs by terrible social agendas.
It's not just NYC or San Fran that represents tolerance and equal rights. It used to be here, too, it our own form. Sadly, it died.
