Miley Cyrus Blew Off 7 Year Old Cancer Patient
A 7 year old girl with just a few months to live really wanted to meet Justin Bieber. Apparently Justin was busy with sizzurp and hookers so the little girl had to settle for her second choice. Miley Cyrus. According to Radar, the family was flown to LA where they were put off for a week by Miley and her people before the girl was allowed to visit Miley in a recording studio. Family friends said that Miley was more interested in what she was doing work wise than spending time with the little girl and now the family is trying to make her original wish come true. I know Miley is busy, but here is my thing. If you agree to meet with someone who is dying and is a little girl, then you can probably spend a couple of hours doing something fun with the girl. You aren't under any obligation to meet with anyone. That is your decision. If, you do decide to meet with someone though, then I think you owe it to that person to give the best of you for however much time you can spend. Do you want some girl who is dying to think that some recording you are making takes higher priority than her? Is what you are doing so important to the future of the world that you can't spend some uninterrupted time with a girl who only wanted to meet you before she died?
We should totally get outraged about something we only know one judgy side of! Pitchforks, everybody!!
ReplyDeleteI have the torches ready, TTM!
DeleteI am SHOCKED. Not by this story but by the actual link to a source above.
ReplyDeleteHopefully while being put off they visited some of the attractions and had her enjoy a few other things. Clarify Enty don't make it seem like they were locked up in a hotel or hospital for a week waiting.
ReplyDeleteHelping others is tough y'all!
ReplyDeleteKaty Perry is extremely generous to young fans like that. That is all. Commence.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what's sadder--the kid with a terminal illness or that her biggest wish was to meet Justin Bieber/Miley Cyrus.
ReplyDeleteExactly.
DeleteBingo.
DeleteMiley didn't agree to it, her PR people did.
ReplyDeleteThen she need to such it up, fulfill the commitment to the little girl by spending some time with her. Then she needs to take control of her PR people to clear this stuff through her when she's on studio time.

DeleteLOL @ my "such it up." I hate auto correct. It harshes my profanity vibe.
DeleteTrue, Jennifer H. But I'll absorb myself with @Karen's comment and raise her a: don't know what's sadder - people that felt let down by Miley, or people that felt let down by Miley and decided to fix it with Bieber. Because he's just ace.
ReplyDeleteOh, topped again - my spelchek can't spell s e x but it can spell Bieber. End of (s e x y) days. Also, happily, I only just had the chance to discover that. Yay me, winning at life.
Yeah Miley stop taking selfies of yourself all day and that would free up a few hours every day.
ReplyDeleteOn case it amuses, when I tried to write 'yay me,' I was spelchekd as (and I do this live, come what may):
ReplyDeleteYeasty me!
Yup, worked again. Thanks, Samsung.
At least the little girl got to meet her. A step up from Ina Garten's total blow-off.
ReplyDeleteThis story just breaks my heart. Shame on you Miley.
ReplyDeleteAnd Biebs...I can't wait for the day when you fall off your throne. Maybe then you'll have time to reflect on what is and isn't important.
So many of these young celebs are just so spoiled rotten and selfish.
Not just young celebs. I swear Botox destroys humility and compassion.
ReplyDeleteA few years ago my friend's son had terminal cancer and we arranged a fun filled trip to LA, including a visit to a taping of Hannah Montana to meet the cast. No one was looking for Miley to spend the day with him. Just a few minutes to greet the family and hopefully let the boy tell her thank you. But Miley would only pose for one quick photo. On the other hand, Jason Earles (who played Hannah's brother) took the time to talk to him and his family, pose for photos, show them around, and introduce them to other cast members who showed them great kindness. The boy passed away six months later but we were so glad to have been able to do this for him because he had talked about his LA trip for months afterward.
ReplyDeletehello???!!! she didnt blow off the kid.. theres a picture of her with the kid on this story!! I am NO fan of Miley, but this story is just manufacured BS.
ReplyDeleteMiley may be young, but she's been a celebrity forever. Meeting fans, even if unplanned once in a while, is part of the nuisance side of an otherwise very privileged and blessed life. I realize that studio time is very expensive, and that she finally met with the girl, but it sounds as if it was done grudgingly. I'm just going by what is said in the post.
ReplyDeleteI guess the family and the little girl didnt get from the meeting what yhey wanted. Seems tho miley did her part. I really dont think she is mean. Mb her people bought little girl to where she was working without telling miley. Bet that happens alot.
ReplyDeleteSorry but you are lacking a sensitive gene, or a conscience for that matter, if you are unable to give a little time to a dying child. Don't understand with all these people have, that they cannot manage any time to give back, only shows they lack a soul so why do people keep giving them their hard earned money?

ReplyDeleteMy moms friend is a social worker and years ago and was told when Shania Twain was really big she would spend all day and all night at childrens hospitals singing to them. She never ever contacted the media and did it as often as she could.
ReplyDeleteI do volunteer work for a wish granting organization and I've been involved with numerous celebrity wishes. At the peak of her Disney days, the waiting list for Miley wishes was so long that we did the math and if she had met five kids a day, five days a week, it would have taken her at least ten years to meet them all. I'm sure the list has slowed some now, but I know she's still a very popular celebrity wish. I've honestly never heard anyone say a negative word about meeting her. My own experience with taking a child to meet her was very positive. We spent about 15 minutes with Miley by herself and she was personable and friendly and very engaging with the child. We then got a backstage tour and great concert tickets and it was a great evening for the wish child.
ReplyDeleteI almost hate to defend her given her post-Disney behavior, but that is the truth of my experience. I've met other celebrities that were total d-bags. In my experience, Miley ranks pretty high on the list of celebrities that go out of their way to give the child a special experience.
I was so mad at Ina for that, @shopgirl! And she could have just agreed to bake some cookies with him knowing their rendevous would expire in, what, 30-45 minutes? I stopped watching her show after that. "How easy was that!"
ReplyDeleteGreat post, @Magically!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear which celebs were jerks. ;-)
I don't know what parent would want their kid to be exposed in person to that cheesy twerking freak anyway. Don't they know that Molly makes you moody?
ReplyDeleteI second that emotion, @chopchop!
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with her eye?!
ReplyDeleteLOL wow, I didn't see that before!
ReplyDeleteI remember being part of a Make a Wish request for a meeting with Bruce Springsteen. Bruce showed up in our conference room with a HUGE teddy bear, signed copies of all of his released albums, toys, tickets to concerts in the boy's hometown area, etc. and he spent all afternoon with the child. At Bruce's request it was done on a Saturday afternoon (when the office would be empty) and no one but those who needed to know would be informed. It never made the press in LA or anywhere else, that I know of. THAT is how you do it.
ReplyDeleteMore stories please @Magically :D
ReplyDeleteAs horrible as Bieber is in just about every other way, he has done a lot of great visits with sick kids. Miley, you're now officially worse than Bieber. Look at your life. Look at your choices.
ReplyDeleteHeadline seemed incredibly scandalous... then the coffee kicked in.
ReplyDeleteI realize it's a lovely thing to give a dying child a special experience, but if there are so many children wanting to meet each celebrity, that means that 99.99% of dying kids are NOT going to get their wish granted, so it seems like a mostly losing proposition for the kids.
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of sad to me that a dying child's last wish would be to meet either one of these people. If you're going to leave this world, it would be nice to take something more memorable than spending a few minutes with some mediocre, semi-talented famewhore.
ReplyDeleteThe thing that seems off and this is from the mother of a child with a chronic, life limiting condition is that the family has built this into an unrealistic expectation. Sure I'd be pissed at waiting a week, if that's what happened but if she didn't become your new BFF you'd still talk it up to the 7 year old as wow you met her. For them to now be trying to make beiber happen they are wasting time making memories with her. Perhaps this is a diversion/ way of coping but I'm not going to knock Miley without all the facts as it's a very complex and emotive area.
ReplyDeleteLOL lottacolada.
ReplyDelete@Murphy, unless Miley had to do this with a gun to her head, she did agree to it. The PR person was just a middle man/woman. At some point before the family got there Miley had to have agreed to it.
I hope she won't get to meet Justin Bieber because she'll end up just as disappointed but maybe she can have something else.
I love the idea of the Make a Wish Foundation but it seems like there is so much opportunity for disappointment when the kids want to meet their favorite celebrity. I'd rather the foundation just say they can't make certain things happen and take celebrities that don't honor their commitments off the metaphoric table.
And then there's this guy (grab your hankies)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2590632/The-incredible-friendship-Michigan-State-star-8-year-old-girl-fighting-cancer.html
Sad. That is all.
ReplyDeleteI don't see what's so bad about a little kid wanting to meet Miley or Bieber as their last wish. If it was someone who was, say, 17 years old who had that wish, yeah, then that would be pathetic.
ReplyDeleteShame on Miley if she ignored that little girl. However, I wonder sometimes if these parents are just acting entitled when they complain their sick kids didn't get enough. Reminds me of "Batkid" and his mom complaining he didn't get to go to the oscars, even though his original wish had already been granted. That was just greedy.
The little girl met Miley in 2012. This is her old, shorter haircut. Google Miley Hodge and you can see that by all accounts the meeting went well. The girl's father denies the story in the "Prayers for Miley" fb page. One can diss Miley for a lot of reason, but give her a break on this one.
ReplyDeleteGood to see our resident philosopher & CDaN zen guru @Alitatotle back in action by the way.
ReplyDeleteAs much rotten stuff that Justin Bieber does these days, he actually holds the record for meeting sick kids via Make-A-Wish, meeting over 200 kids.
ReplyDeleteIf I was famous, I don't think I could meet kids in this situation. I'd end up bawling my eyes out instead of being upbeat. Anyone who grants these wishes has my respect.
Lady Heisenberg :)
ReplyDelete'Yeasty me' truly was a new low wasn't it.
At least I haven't started making jokes (and I use the definition loosely) about being uncertain of your principles!
'Cause I'm a nerd .
