Dave Brockie, better known as Oderus Urungus, the founder and lead singer of renowned metal band GWAR, has died. Roommates reportedly found Brockie's body at his home Sunday evening. He was 50.
Rest in Peace. Fifty is too young. Hope it was sudden and painless. I've heard them on the radio, but until I Wiki'd I didn't know about their theatre, clever names, and costumes. Brilliant! (Maximus Pustulus, Oderus Urungus).
One of my best concerts EVER. Not even a metal fan, got dragged by friends. Walked in with a white tshirt, walked out with it red and my mind blown. Changed my perspective on rock shows forever. RIP
I worked at a concert venue back in college. Next to ICP, GWAR was the strangest show I'd witnessed, but the fans were so absolutely in love with them. Sad to hear someone died so young.
Oh no! GWAR ruled! That's soo young
ReplyDeleteRIP
GWAR! RIP *shoots up two sets of metal horns*
ReplyDeleteThat is young, sad. I have no idea who this man is though - my record collection does not feature much metal (none).
ReplyDeleteBee Haven will be crushed. :-(
ReplyDeleteSo will GeezLouise
ReplyDeleteThat's odd. Maybe the new Spanish girl, too?
ReplyDeleteNo not her. GWAR is huge in Aussieland.
ReplyDeleteRoommates?
ReplyDeleteBeavis and Butthead will also be devastated

ReplyDeleteDon't know this guy or his band but may he rest in peace and God bless.

ReplyDeleteRIP.
ReplyDeleteNooooo...
ReplyDeleteRIP He will be missed.
ReplyDeleteNot my cup of tea but RIP. Remember when Gwar would always be on Jerry Springer?
ReplyDelete@Derek: Yes, I do!
DeleteWell I just educated myself. Someone was/is very creative with their costumes.
ReplyDeleteWow is all I can say. Not a metal fan but sounds like someone enjoyed the shows.
And yes B Smears/Bee Haven/Rach Around and maybe that other one will be upset.
RIP. Hope you keep rocking up there from the Metal Metal Land in the sky

ReplyDeleteOne of the funniest men in show business. Terrible loss.
