Cynthia Lynn, one of the last surviving cast members of the 1965-71 sitcom Hogan's Heroes, died Monday in Los Angeles after suffering from hepatitis. She was 76.
Cynthia Lynn was Klink's first secretary Helga, and Sigrid Valdis played the second, HIlda. Valdis was married to Bob Crane.
A few of them are still with us: Robert Clary, who played LeBeau. Kenneth Washington, who played Baker (he replaced Ivan Dixon "Kinchloe" after four seasons.) Bernard Fox, who played Crittenden in a few episodes.
Very sad. "Hogan's Heroes" is my No.1 favorite show of all time. RIP, Cynthia!
My father loved that show. He was in Europe serving for Canada during WWII in a MASH Unit (they were called CCS's then - Casualty Clearing Stations). At the same time, he said POW (prisoner of war) camps were not remotely like that. Thank goodness for DVDs - my kids grew up watching shows like Hogan's Heroes, Sanford and Son, the Jeffersons, Lucy, really funny shows like that. Some of the video games now have so much historical content that the kids really know an astounding amount of history.
Ah, she was funny
ReplyDeleteI thought Robert Clary was still alive??
ReplyDeleteWas she is Bob's sex tapes?

ReplyDeleteThink she was married to Bob for a while but he got too much for her.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad her memory will be preserved within that great sitcom.
ReplyDeleteRIP and Godspeed
ReplyDeleteYou know Col Klink won 2 Emmys for that show?
ReplyDeleteAnother great TV show that could never be aired today, due to rampant political correctness.
I don't know, BBC America is always showing 'Allo 'Allo, which has more cuddly Nazis than Hogan's Heroes.
ReplyDeleteYes, Clary is still alive. He was married to the daughter of Eddie Cantor, but she died in the 90s.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great show that was!
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to rail against this show, but we kids watched it every day after school.
