Blind Item #6

This B- list mostly movie actress who has been in this space for her attitude and general bad manners is at it again. Last night at dinner, she and her equally useless husband were seated next to a couple that had two kids with them. Our actress saw the kids and refused to sit next to them because she hates kids in restaurants. When told there were no other tables the actress grabbed her husband's arm and said they were leaving.

  1. Ehh. I would've been intrigued if she had tried to get the kids booted out. As it is, she exercised her right to leave and in the process lightened the mood of the establishment. This should be a Kindness blind.

  4. I don't see what the big deal is. She left, she didn't make a scene...I don't get it.

  5. I kind of don't have a problem with this. She didn't want to sit next to kids, nothing else available...I get it.

When I'm out with my kid--I don't want to deal with other peoples either--unless it's fast food or something.

  6. ..and yeah. If my fella and I went out to the Melting Pot or somewhere else fancy for the night, kids running around would be a spoiler for sure.

  7. I quite like my kids but even I like the odd meal out without being surrounded. I don't think it makes me and Mr Violet horrible people. At least we're not out there raping and molesting A list actors.

  8. She literally hates kids at a restaurant.

  9. Wow, what a betch! How dare she leave instead of rolling the dice to see if the kids were behaved.

  10. I have no problem with this at all, and have moved tables in order not to sit around kids. It doesn't say what kind of restaurant it was, but there are some where I'd prefer more of an adult atmosphere, and based on the price I'm paying don't want a night out with the kids at the table next to me.

  11. I hate kids at restaurants, too, when their parents are allowing them to misbehave. I dislike it far less when the parents actively try to stop bad behavior and I LOVE seeing kids when they're cute and reasonably well-behaved.

Like everyone else, I'm cutting her slack and assuming she thinks the same way I do. Like @Bacon Ranch said, I don't want to be seated by kids if I'm on a romantic, QUIET, date.

  12. 5 of us went to Outback one night. In a mostly empty restaurant they tried to seat us near a large group with kids who were running around and screaming. There was food all over the floor and it was a mess. I didn't say a word, I just turned around and went back to the hostess stand.

They immediately sat us on the other side of the restaurant. Had there not been anywhere else to sit I would have left.

I would do the same thing

  14. agreed with the group - i want to enjoy my calm date night dinner with wine and my man... not a daycare. kids are nice but its def a spoiler to have to talk over a crying baby, etc.

  15. nothing wrong with not wanting to sit by children in a restaurant

I don't love it either......and I understand when others in restaurants are not particularly thrilled when I am out with my own family. Truthfully, if parents today would teach their kids appropriate public manners and enforce them-we'd all be better off

I don't want to sit next to kids at a nice resturant with my guy either

  18. Yeah, agree, maybe her methods were crude but i understand what she did. And speaking of being seated in a resturant, why is it slways such a production ? They have to consult seat chart, consult with fellow server. I understand you want to spread guests out among servers but geez. I always ask for table because im claustrophobic-y, and when i tell them , if ive forgotten to mention it before, they get all panicky even if 5 tables are right next to booth. I dont get it. Whats the big deal?

    1. Multiple reasons actually. The host stand sets the pace for the server. If a server gets multiple tables at the same time it can decrease the quality of service the patron receives. So rotating the section/server not only makes the balances out the business ie $$$ for the servers, but also can mean a better dining experience since your server will not be spread too thin.
And I don't expect non restaurant employees to get this but it can put a server in the weeds (very very busy to the point of not being able to keep your head above water) to have 13 tables all together and 1 table on the other side of the restaurant. Just my 2 cents though.
Oh yea, I forgot to throw literally in there somewhere ;)

  21. I don't mind kids if they're well behaved, but these days those kind of kids are hard to find. Once I ate at a diner, and the two kids in the booth next to me never sat in their seats for a minute. They were running up and down the aisle, climbing over the back of the booths, and sitting on the floor underneath the table. The parents did NOTHING about it except eat their dinner and talk to each other.

  22. All I'm hearing from this whole comment thread is "blah blah blah blah disco you need to go eat melted cheese blah blah blah." Thank you for the Melting Pot craving installation, Bacon Ranch.

  23. @Topper - Then it wasn't the kids who were behaving badly, it was the parents. If my stepdiscos, tried to pull that, they would be in the bathroom getting a talking to from dad so fast their heads would spin. That's why we only get dirty looks from assholes that think all kids are going to be pains in the ass to sit next to.

  24. I see no bad behavior here. Must be somebody this particular Entern has it in for.

  25. I'm the same way. I don't believe children should be at nice restaurants either. If it's a McDonalds or a Friday's...fine...but when I go out for a nice dinner on a Fri or Sat night, I don't want to hear unruly kids screaming. When I get seated next to children, I always ask to be moved.

  26. It is the same with movie theatres now which is one reason why I rarely go.

People forget there is a way to behave at home and a way to behave in public.

The bad behavior in movie theatres however extends to adults as well. Everyone use to watching movies on at home, go ahead annoy your spouse at home but I really don't want your running commentary during a thriller or suspense film never mind people with their bloody cell phones etc.

Second to last time I went to a movie, teenagers were playing musical chairs - people had complained to the usher who was some pimply passive kid who did nothing - so I went and sat at the end of the row and said since you are acting like children and disturbing people I am now your babysitter. They went quiet and behaved and I went back to my original seat after 10 - 15 minutes and they behaved the rest of the movie. I realize in some theatres that could get me beat up or stabbed.

  27. I don't see anything wrong with this bi. Most kids are annoying as fuck. Throw a restaurant into the mix and just plan to have your wjole night effed up with constant whining, crying, screaming. Yeah that dont sound fun to me either. Hi five to whoever Iis the subject of this bi.

    1. Throw into the mix bad parents who shouldn't be parents. Just know these little unruly, rude whiny little fuckers will be hiding in dark allies when they grow up bashing old ladies in the head and taking off with their purses. Thats your future america because most parents dont discipline their kids.

  28. Awwweee! This reminds me of Samantha from Sex and the City. Kids are fun to watch shove carrots up their noses and blow bubbles in their fizzy drinks!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I don't see this as bad. I wouldn't leave, but I like kids. If they were poorly behaved, I would bug them out and scare em, or I would say something obnoxiously loud so the parents could hear and do something.

  30. +1000 for everyone who doesn't want to sit next to kids. I'm on board that plan as well.

  31. Being trapped next to someone else's tantrum-y little ones isn't the best. That said, my first thought was Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green.

  32. Maybe it's because we don't have children that I think everything they do is adorable. And also, apart from anniversaries, the places we mostly eat, generally have kids anyway, so it's not really an option to complain. Perhaps they did drive thru instead?

Very hard to teach manners to a toddler in restaurant. better leave them home with a nanny if they are very loud. I don t like young kids to see adults drinking or having adult conversation.

  34. and Count their parents would prob ignore you because they actually think what they are doing (or not doing in this case) is their right.

I've actually witnessed people who got so mad at a server for daring to ask them to not let their child throw sugar packets all over the floor. And say they would never come back to that restaurant because of it. I guess they just expected the restaurant to throw an entire rack of sugar packets away every time their child is in the restaurant.......funny!

  35. Actually rajahcat: I did have a cringe worthy moment at a pizza place where my nephews were little so and so's and people glared accusingly at us as they ran riot. I rescind my statement. Kids can be naughty/annoying if the parents are lax.

  36. @rajacat: I am very good at making people uncomfortable. If passive aggressive don't work, I can do overly aggressive well.

  37. Insufficient info here to judge. How old were the kids? Behaving or not? What kind of restaurant? Some well-trained children behave a lot better than most adults.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I have no problem with this - just last weekend at the Cheesecake Factory I said "inside, not next to any screaming kids" - I always get an understanding look from the hostess. I don't get why parents think I want to list to their bratty kids - my parents never let me behave like that in public.

  39. Heigl has kids herself! I don't know why people would take little kids to an adult restaurant. It's boring for the kids to wait for food, and if it's late, they are tired, which equals grumpy which equals crying/fussing. Take them to McDonalds, where they can run around, eat and run some more.

  40. I have three children and have never had an issue with them behaving poorly in a restaurant, or really anywhere else for that matter. If they were to act like monkeys, I wouldn't take them anywhere. Parents need to parent.

If the kids were being good, then this lady is a B. If they were acting like hooligans, she had the right to leave.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I don't really have an issue with this either. In fact, I usually ask to be seated in a "no kids" section. Wait staff actually try to do this.

  44. Not to mention i am not remotely offended if people dont want to sit near me when immout with any or all of my ages 3 to 11 year old grandchildren. In fact id rather have someone not sit near us than shoot us dirty looks the whole time. It works both ways, no harm no foul.

  45. I've just gotta say...we've been taking our kids to restaurants since they were born, and they don't misbehave. They are children, and they are curious and happy people so they sometimes loook around at things. But they've never run into anyone, upset anyone's food or deliberately bothered another table. I absolutely would not want to sit near heathens either. But I don't assume that kids are going to be.
