Which funk legend is now residing at an LA nursing home after his daughter (who rescued him from homelessness) said she saw him hitting on his caretaker?
Daughter had her father incarcerated in a nursing home because he got a boner? Geez, that's one cranky-ass daughter. Seriously, what the fuck is her problem?
The story with Sly Stone is that he's had huge drug issues starting in the early seventies, when he started to miss most of the concerts from the band. He most likely has permanent brain damage from the acid and the coke he took back then. He has remained a junkie for a lot of time, and it's suspected that his manager was an enabler, so Stone would progressively give away his shares to his music (then sell them to Michael Jackson). That's why, even if he wrote an amazing number of hits and great songs (which still get many samples in hip hop), he doesn't make money out of them anymore.
Much more likely Sly. I don't think George has ever been homeless - he's touring pretty constantly. Though I did hear about a year ago that he was finally going into rehab. He's been smoking crack since the '80s, and may well hold the record for longest surviving crack addict.
I have bet George a few times(no, he didn't remember me any of those times). He was never homeless, and pretty much plays on a regular basis. He just likes his weed and crack. I say George be allowed to smoke whatever the hell he wants. Sly, on the other hand...probably needs a lot more care. He was both a drug addict and totally insane.
George Clinton and Funkadelic supporting Primal Scream at the Brixton Academy in '93 was one of the best gigs I ever went to! I agree, must be Sly as George still tours way too much.....
Sly was homeless and living in a camper that some couple let him park in their yard. He's had people looking after him because he's got a history of mental problems and is not really capable of holding it together.
If he made a play towards someone who had been kindly helping him out, then yeah, I could see it being time to get him into a safe place. Somewhere where he'd not be at risk of being thrown out or beat up for behaving inappropriately. You can only impose on the kindness of others for so long and so far. After that, your issues need to be addressed.
George Clinton

ReplyDeleteI like your guess better, Wiglet!

ReplyDeleteJust saw George Clinton at the HOB Boston...
ReplyDeleteWe're really scraping the bottom of the barrel here, aren't we? Granted it's gross, but it's a pretty common happening...I'm just sayin.

ReplyDeleteGeorge Clinton is giving Keith Richards a battle for most buzzed. Not him! Also think Sly.
ReplyDeleteOld men hit on young women...I am shocked.
ReplyDeleteIt was probably less hitting on and more like sexual harassment.
ReplyDeleteOn board with Sly.
ReplyDeleteSounds like he's still got it. Or thinks he does.
ReplyDeleteAgree with the Sly guess. Awesome band, love their music.
ReplyDeleteNo information on Sly since 2010 but he is still alive. Could very well be him.
ReplyDeleteFunk Legend George Clinton. The one and only.
ReplyDeleteBut Funk Legend George Clinton is not homeless, so must be Sly.
ReplyDeleteAw, I hope it's not Sly. I loved his group so much growing up. But he was a mess even way back then. :(
ReplyDeleteI saw George Clinton at my Dr's office once and he looked like a homeless person. No shade though, I love me some GC!
