A Justin Bieber Photo That Says It All
On Sunday, Justin Bieber stopped by SXSW. Yes, it was a surprise but between Justin and GaGa they have ruined any and all coolness that was left in SXSW. Back in the day SXSW was just some clubs that got together to play some really great music from some bands that were looking to get a record deal. Sometimes there would be a headliner or two that had got a deal but for the most part it was some great music. Then some filmmakers decided they wanted to be a part and that was great and you got to see some amazing films from people you never heard of and there were a lot of crap films too. There were tons of events and clubs stayed open late and there were lots of hazy nights and blurred memories. There was a night back in the day where Lisa Loeb and Green Day played a song together before anyone had heard of Green Day outside San Francisco. Now you get Justin Bieber stopping by to dedicate a song to Selena Gomez.
Just when you thought Monday was over, Tuesday b* slaps you with Bieber.
ReplyDeleteI feel like this is something you couldn't put in a simple tweet so you put it here.... enty fail.
ReplyDeleteSXSW is kicking everyone's ass right now who lives here, especially if they work downtown. Parking is hell.
ReplyDeleteI really hope these celebs are spending (and tipping) a bunch.
Yea my sister can barely get out of her driveway. Lives half a block off S Congress and people keep blocking her in.
DeleteYeah, it's terrible.
DeletePeople are also trying to burn down Bangers Sausages (not literally) because Beiber ate there. I didn't even know hipsters could get so pissed.
If the photo says it all, why the awesome ramble-on?
ReplyDeleteSXSW is sorta like this place it was cool when it was run by one person then the corporations noticed it and gobbled it up and turned it into shit to make more money for themselves. And damn the consumers.
ReplyDeleteReplace SXSW with CDAN, corporations with sandybrook and end the sentence at shit. Perfect.

Oh, Ray
DeleteThat is the best SXSW picture yet!!
ReplyDeleteGoodbye SXSW
ReplyDeleteLotta, I get the feeling this entern is the kind who never takes a breath.
ReplyDeleteYou know, the one who totally has something to say and it's so completely important that if you breathe when telling the story you might make it seem less important so you don't and keep talking and tell a story that could have been told in ten seconds but it took you a minute?
@Bacon, I exhaled just now after reading that. Right on.
Delete@Bacon, I know her
ReplyDeleteGeez Louis A Pyatt, I feel for your sister. I'm NW so I can avoid it but my friends downtown are feeling the pain. Also buddies who commute. Parking is pretty much non existent what with the tents and blocked off streets.
ReplyDeleteLuckily she works from home & the kids have spring break right now. Last year was way worse. But whatcha gonna do?? But yea SXSW has officially been ruined. Last time I went it was a lot of fun 92/93??).
DeleteYes I was already over it Bacon and A Pyatt most of my clients are downtown and getting anywhere has been a bitch. If I see anymore skinny jean, converse, colored sunglass wearing hipster men that weigh less than I do, not following pedestrian laws I'm going to mow them down! That was before I heard about Bieber now I'm completely over it!
ReplyDeleteWhat she could do A...
ReplyDeleteIs what folks used to do in my hometown (not here) when it came to the state fair.
They would put signs in their yard saying $5 an hour
Our family paid up more than once :)
Beats the tow charge.
I am not saying this is what she SHOULD do, simply saying it's something she COULD do.
Oh no she's WAY to politically correct for that. That's something I WOULD do. You know, fine you wanna block my drive? You're ass is gonna pay to do it!
Delete(For parking of course, sheesh we weren't that southern)
ReplyDeleteI never got to go to SXSW but had load of musician friends who talked about how great it was "back in the day".
ReplyDeleteSundance and Burning Man are the same.
You know, the world wouldn't weep if that heap burned down.
ReplyDeleteIf he ate there he has more things crawling inside of him than he knows.
It's nasty.
...And San Diego Comic-Con. (ref: @Sherry)
ReplyDeleteSame thing with Coachella. Most locals purchased their tickets the weekend before and only bought them for one day.
ReplyDeleteAnd San Diego Street Scene...
ReplyDeleteBieber is so uncool he doesn't even get how uncool he is.
ReplyDeleteEven if he has one 8 year old fan left in the world, they'd have to be embarrassed by him.
He was carded and turned down by my new favorite bar in ATX today.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to have a great festival with relatively obscure, up and coming kick ass bands, but NOOOOOoooo. The celebuwhores cannot handle not being in the spotlight for 5 seconds, so they hijack events like this and stink it up with their mediocrity. Bieberdouche at SXSW? I feel sick.
ReplyDeleteHi :) just wanted to point out Green Day are playing at the festival tomorrow too...I'm still smiling from seeing them here (Australia) last week ...first post , hope it's ok, peace

ReplyDeleteIt's pretty easy to avoid corporate SXSW and have as much fun as you ever did. Would be great if they ran parking shuttles from outlying malls. Locals whining is like locals at Sturgis whining. Or anywhere else that has festivals. Those folks couldn't have fun if fun was right in their face. Astonishing!!
ReplyDeleteIf this CDAN post on SXSW had been written in the 1st-person, with genuine "I went there back when"/"I saw" type details, it'd be time to await the Rapture (not the ancient, lame Blondie single)....
ReplyDeleteAlso--I might still be trying to pull the zips up on ancient, once-loose Size-2 flare jeans from my Hell Drawer--just in case there had been a sort of Time-slip. 'Cause the last time those jeans were wearable, CDAN had a seemingly solitary Enty at the helm, & he was an eternal rock'n'roll fan-boy. When he lacked time to write much content for a day, you could end up scrolling thru pages filled w/pix from recent--often obscure--live band gigs.
But, no. This sounds like a CDANtern's second-hand summary of info on various other sites. The Enty of my Size-2 Era would have composed a far longer post, w/a fun, nostalgic anecdote from a past visit, & something more than a mere Green Day name-check. But we're still here; aren't we?
