Super Bowl Commercials

My favorites yesterday were the ones that weren't designed to make you cry. The Tim Tebow T-Mobile one is great. I thought it was nice to see Anna Kendrick being in a huge commercial and thought it was good. The Radio Shack one was nice just because no one really is sure how they are still in business. The worst of the day was the Scarlett J one. For all the buzz about her SodaStream ad, it really sucked.

  1. The worst one for me was the Scientology one.

  3. @Lotta, I liked the Scientology one only because my friend, "John Smith" later put on Facebook, "I wasn't sure before, but that commercial finally sold it for me. John Smith, Scientologist."

  4. too much reliance on 80s nostalgia all around. Nothing about those 4 hrs stood out, especially the game and most ads were unmemorable.

  5. I thought the Tebow commercial was annoying, but mostly because I find him annoying.

The $cio commercial was great! We were all laughing so hard! I didn't see many of the others, though.

  6. I loved the Tebow one, although this was the short version. In the longer version, he does a Starsky-and-Hutch skit with flying doughnuts. Classic.

I also enjoyed the Radio Shack one. Nice to see they've remade themselves into a budget version of the Apple Store.

  7. I really enjoyed the Tebow commercials, he really gets it. It's about working when nobody is watching.

  8. From an outsider's view it seems the SB is more about the adverts and the half time show than it is about the actual sport. What actually dictates the play? Does play have to stop until an ad finishes? Here the ads are only on at half time for big rugby and football events ( and not at all if they're on the BBC).

  9. I enjoyed the Maserati commercial. I may need to check out a dealership later.

    1. @Lord D: You're the only one that liked it!
It was a long, boring, incomprehensible mess!

  12. I only watch the Super Bowl for the ads and half-time show. I thought Bruno and the Chili Peppers were fabulous. The ads were such a snoozefest. Radio Shack wins for me hands down. That was cute. Ironically, the Radio Shack in my town really does look like it did in 1982.

  20. In what world is Anna Kendrick hot? She's skinny, not pretty & has one of those squirrel mouths - no lips, lotsa gum.
