Samuel L Jackson Is Not Laurence Fishburne

I'm not sure how Sam Rubin confused Samuel L Jackson with Laurence Fishburne but he probably will never make the same mistake again. Rule #1. Samuel always wears that same damn hat in a variety of colors. Rule #2. Samuel had the best audio book recording of all time. Rule #3. Samuel is always willing to talk about snakes on a plane. Rule #4. Samuel doesn't have a daughter in the porn business.

  2. News reporter was a typical middle aged white man who probably believes that all black people look the same. pfft.

  3. I don't usually watch these videos, but damn it if I didn't laugh myself silly watching this one!!!

  4. Woe that was a low blow with the daughter in porn, even for Enty. Besides is she really in porn? It was just the one video.

    1. I believe one porn movie is enough to qualify one.

  5. I think the video of Evan from TMZ calling him out for dissing TMZ live was pretty funny also.

  7. Samuel is the motherfucking man. He doesn't need to be hanging around peasants like this imbecile.

  8. Years ago a friend asked Fishburne …Are You Larry Fishburne…his response was x-rated…prefers Laurence…

  9. Sammy gave it to him. Get your shit right, man... first rule of any legit journalist is you should be well versed on your subject. This reporter did a shit job but I thought he played it well with the self deprecating humor. And Samuel Jackson is a fucking hoot.

  10. I dunno, @cleodacat, some young people are hard to tell apart. Put a bunch of skinny blonde starlets in a lineup some time and try (in vain) to spot the difference...

  11. That was hysterical! "Make sure you know all those other white guys!"

  12. Why does everything always have to become about race???? I ALWAYS mix these 2 up. I don't know why. There's something about them that remind me each other. I always mix Amy Adams and Isla Fischer too. I've actually gotten in to arguments with people that they were wrong about who was who in what movie..and Elizabeth Perkins and Margaret Colin. They confuse me.

  13. I get Isla Fisher and Amy Adams mixed up all the time. I agree, it's not necessarily racist to confuse two people and I don't think what happened here was racist so much as it was misinformed. It happens. But my question is, what does Laurence Fishburne think about all of this?

  14. I defy anyone to tell me they don't mix up Bill Pullman, Bill Paxton & even add Jeff Daniels to that mix.
The only reason I won't mix up Daniels is due to The Newsroom.

  15. Rule#5....
This guy has a wallet that says "Bad motherf@%:&r"...When confronting a Black actor who carved out a multiple decade career in Hollywood dont provoke them. Usually they have been through the ringer at least once and know how to deal with fools like this. I know Wayne Brady, he is NOT all smiles and sweetness. Believe me.

  16. @becca

SLJ and Lawrence Fishburne...completely different acting resumes. One is bald...the other has hair. One is almost exclusively movies, the other does theater, movies, and television. I saw Lawrence as the lead in "Two Trains Running" as a highschool senior. That man is absolutely captivating on stage. More so than any role I have seen him in on film.

  17. I have always had trouble telling Laura Dern from Helen Hunt, Carmen Electra from Cameron Diaz, the guy who was in the Jurassic Park with Tia Leone and the guy who played the research guy in the beginning of Titanic and I can't tell Jessica Chastain from Amy Adams, Isla Fischer and now Bella Thorne.

Until this thing blew up, I thought it was Samuel Jackson in that commercial, too, probably because I don't even know who the other guy is, but there is a slight resemblance.

  18. Race aside, Sam Rubin has been an entertainment reporter for damn near 30 years, IT'S HIS JOB not to confuse actors. Period. Who cares if we get these people confused, I've dont get paid to differentiate he does.
And some things ARE about race. Welcome to the USA.

  19. I think sam had alot of fun with it and made his point. He left out the allstate guy tho, who i love. You know, president Palmer, lol

  20. Sam Rubin (the reporter) has been an entertainment reporter for YEARS. He's a complete buffoon. Angelenos have the distinct displeasure of watching him occasionally host the red carpet and it's always so awkward and embarrassing. But this is a new low.

  21. Around the time Schindler's List came out a friend of mine went up to Patrick Stewart and told him how much she loved him in that movie. Patrick laughed and told her that was Ben Kinsgley. Oops.

Dear Mr. Rubin: Sam Jackson was the bald guy in Star Wars and Laurence Fishburne was the bald guy in The Matrx. Clear now?

  22. Dear Mr. Rubin: Sam Jackson was the murdered robbery driver in Goodfellas and Laurence Fishburne was the kid killed on the boat in Apocalypse Now. Clear now?

  23. Funny years ago on "Extra's" they did the same skit and I beleive it was also them mixing up Samuel L Jackson with Laurence Fishburn.

Truthfully though, if this guy has been covering entertainment he should be fired. He has no idea what he's doing. Step aside.

  24. I'll bet he'll never make that mistake again. That was damned funny to watch. It's one thing to mix up two actors/actresses who look alike, but Jackson and Fishburne look nothing alike.

  25. Agree that it isn't always about race. I always confused Patrick Swayze and Kurt Russell and they don't even look that much alike. Celebs aren't as important as they think they are to other people.

  26. I loved how Jackson made fun of him! Especially about being the entertainment reporter, "Must be a short line for your job." That was priceless.
