Sam Worthington Arrested For Punching Pap

Sam Worthington was arrested after coming to the aid of his girlfriend. According to police reports, a pap named Li Shang kicked Sam's girlfriend, Lara Bingle, when the couple came out of a bar together in NYC. Sam saw what happened and punched the pap in the face. Both men were arrested. Sam was charged with assault and the pap was charged with assault, reckless endangerment and harassment. Sam was released a short time after being arrested but the pap is still locked up.

    The weird thing is that the bar where it happened, the Cubby Hole, is (or was) a lesbian bar. I know straights sometimes hang out in gay clubs - I've done it myself, with gay friends - but a straight couple hanging out in a lesbian bar is unusual.

    BTW, someone was mentioning the other day an article about actors Hollywood tried to make A-list, without success. Worthington was one of them, as was Taylor Kitsch, Taylor Lautner, Clive Owen and (gulp) Paul Walker. The article, which was first published in July 2013, can be accessed here.

    For some reason, I don't buy this.

    When do we ever see pap pics of Sam anywhere? Everyone has forgotten about him and he needed to jump back into the spotlight with a bang.

    Usually you don't see that many paps around NYC. Usually you just see them hanging around the Rose Bar or at a couple of places in the Village (where LILO might be hanging ). I blame Alec Baldwin!

    Was the pap an employee of TMZ? Usually they're quick to distance themselves of unruly pap behavior by stating the pap isn't our. They didn't do that today.

    This could easily be a mutually beneficial set up. Both men agree not to press charges, photos worth money and Worthington is in the news again after failing to make a blip with the whole are they engaged photos on Instagram last week. Everyone wins.

    Sam just signed on for 3 more Avatar movies, he is financially set for life. He was a flash in the pan and didn't parlay it into permanent A list status but he will do nicely with riding the Avatar franchise.

    He seems like a regular aussie he likes to drink, have pretty blonde girlfriends and just do his thing whatever it is at the moment.
