It's strange how many celebrity deaths there have been recently ...

  7. Waite was a solid, reliable talent. Point a camera at him, and he always delivered.

I remember a few months ago, I was flipping channels and came across some second-rate 70s "blaxploitation" flick in which Waite played the main villain, a homicidal and cowardly pimp. That was a real brain-bender, lemme tell you!

I was really enjoying him recently as Mark Harmon's father on NCIS. I wonder if they'll do something to commemorate him.

  16. Aww the Waltons was the best! I loved to watch it and laugh at the obviously not-Virginia scenery. But it was a great show. I bet my family knew the real family the show was based on, they are from that area and I've been to the town a few times. Pretty cool stuff...RIP Ralph Waite.

  19. I came late to "The Waltons" when it was on the Hallmark channel, and loved him. Like others said, he was great at Mark Harmon's dad on "NCIS"...you could have sworn he really was Mark's dad. I'll miss him on "NCIS."
