Off Topic

I made $20 recycling the bottles and cans laying around my basement. I can actually see the floor now.

Wow! That's cool. I remember we used to get 5 or 10c for our old "Ballins" bottles ... sadly we don't get a thing now.

  2. Nope not a penny here either. In fact I'm pretty sure we actually pay the local council to recycle on our behalf.

  5. Here, if you don't recycle, the whole block of buildings gets a huge fine.
The only people getting (very) rich with recycling are the business doing it.

  7. We get a nickle, but you pay at purchase. So every six pack is an extra 30 cents. I used to get enough for a party back in college, but now I leave them for the people who roll around on garbage day.

  8. Yes, Stepforded! In South Australia, where I grew up, you used to get 10c for a small bottle or 20c for a big one. You still do apparently but I live in NSW now and they don't do it. They should tho, would do the world of good for the environment and would mean the garbos would have less recycling to pick up.

  9. Read this in a apartment owner's magazine: Tenant was a drunk. Finally got evicted. Entire apt. was filled with beer cans. Owner's maintenance man took all the cans to the recycling center. He made $600.

  10. We usually fill up a big box with recyclables about 4-5 times a year and get around $30 every time. We recycle everything in Alberta though. I'm horrified when I visit other provinces and they're throwing out plastic!
