KISS Not Playing At Rock And Roll Induction Ceremony

Instead of celebrating their induction to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, the group has chosen to remain divided and continue their three decade animosity towards each other. Because no one could decide on a lineup to play at the induction ceremony, KISS has decided not to play at all.

"It is over 13 years since the original lineup has played together in makeup and we believe the memory of those times would not be enhanced. To bring this to a quick end, we have decided not to play in any line-up, and we will focus our attention on celebrating our induction into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame."

Apparently Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley didn't want to play if it meant including Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. They wanted the performance to include Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer. The announcement was made yesterday to skip the whole thing so people wouldn't waste their money buying tickets to the show thinking the band was going to play.

  1. They need to make a sequel to KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park.

  2. Maybe they could get Axl Rose to play with them. Wasn't he the last person to throw a tantrum about line-ups at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Seriously, guys, just bring in everybody. Let Ace and Peter do a couple of numbers, then bring in Eric and Tommy. It's not rocket science.

  4. What A-holes. They bitched and moaned forever about being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, then they do this? Sorry, but "Beth" was written by Peter Criss and performed by an orchestra, so what could they have played?

  6. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke, just like KISS. Who cares?

  7. Kiss always creeped me out when I was little in the 70s, apparently I was just good at seeing through the makeup.

  10. I know I'm getting old when I'm more excited about Hall and Oates getting in than KISS.

  12. I was staying in a resort hotel in southern Florida in the 90s when they came into the bar. Other people were obviously excited to see them. Me? I couldn't figure out why people cared about four middle-aged men. I had no idea who they were without their make-up.

  13. Actually had a chance to go to the RNR HOF. It was pretty good I must admit. In fact Cleveland itself was pretty good.

Gene owns everything about this band. It would be nice to have Ace and Peter do a few songs at least but that's not gonna happen.

  15. They all can be cunts, especially Gene and Paul.My very first concert- 1977, was KISS. Me & my 11 yr old friends, lots of stoners passing us joints down the line.

  16. @Sherry: It aint no Rock N Roll HOF if they have Britney Spears displays and induct rappers and old country performers. Derek Jeter is a great athlete, don't mean he belongs in the Pro Football HOF.

It seems to be just a shrine to suckling on Jann Wenner's yambag.

  17. Good. They fucking sucked anyway, and the only kids who liked them were loser 7th graders who didn't know about Zeppelin and Floyd.

  18. He should have pulled out his piece and put it to the guy's head, like Freddy's son in House of Cards.

That ended well, as it tends to.

  19. Paul talked about this in an interview, and I loved his take on it. The HOF is no such thing: it's a private entity that just decided to open a museum called the Hall Of Fame. Entrants are almost entirely decided by a board of directors with no cred whatsoever. To give you an idea, KISS was only added because of the 'wildcard' slot that the fans voted for. Nirvana was the another.

Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame with no KISS or Nirvana? Yeah, right.

Paul put it clearly: what possible reason would they have for engaging with these people? The band doesn't care about them, except the two ex members who desperately want in so they can get some cash.

  20. If they got in on a fan vote especially, it is because of the original lineup that made KISS famous. The roleplayers are nice guys and good musicians, but they didn't make themselves famous.
