High School Senior Battling Brain Tumor Gets Special Graduation

18 year old Dom Hooks might not live to see graduation. The high school senior has been battled cancer for several years and it has now spread to his brain. Doctors told him he might not live until graduation. So, his classmates in Federal Way, WA organized a special graduation for him last night complete with caps and gowns. Many of Dom's teachers spoke at the graduation and one started fighting back tears before Dom started cheering in the audience and made her laugh. The teacher said, "I've learned that the fact that you are ill might be about the least important and least interesting thing that there is to know about you."

  1. It's good to know there are at least some supportive people left in some good schools...if every child were treated like this it would be such a different world.

  2. Soooo many kids with cancer. It's so sad. I read about a girl with a rare lymphoma on DM yesterday. It breaks my heart for their loved ones.
