George Zimmerman/DMX Fight Canceled

With DMX stating he never agreed to fight George Zimmerman and the promoter claiming a conscience, the celebrity boxing match scheduled for next month between Zimmerman and DMX has been canceled. The promoter says he could have made a million dollars but that he wanted to be able to look at his kids and have them be proud of him. You know, because there is nothing like arranging celebrity boxing matches between barely relevant celebrities to make a kid invite you to their school career day. "My dad finds losers who were famous for 30 seconds and gets them to fight." I do think it was a bad idea to promote Zimmerman like this. You are basically celebrating a guy who murdered someone. That being said I was hoping he would be put in the ring against someone who would pummel him for three rounds. The guy abuses women and kills people and gets away with it. I don't want him to profit off it which he would have done but I would like to see him get the snot beat out of him so it is a conundrum. It is also way too early to be using that word. This is the same promoter who begged Casey Anthony to come fight and as far as I know still has an offer out to her so it is not like he hates all murderers.

I wish someone bigger, smarter and stronger than this arse dingle (George) would take him on in the ring. I'd like to see how he measures up to someone of age, and unarmed. I loathe this man. I wish Karma would kick in. Soon.

  6. As an African American I'm appalled that A) this asshole was getting additional press and a paycheck for being a murderer. B) that he was fighting cracked out DMX who was liable to pass out at any given moment during the fight. IMO, The fight was going to be fixed either way.

Something tells me the promoter didn't get a conscience...I wouldn't be surprised if someone threatened him. Either way, this chapter in the George Zimmerman saga is closed. If we get lucky, he'll fade away into obscurity, poverty, loneliness,
and his own personal mental hell.

  8. That creep deserves a slow, painful, feces covered demise... however it should not be televised and there should be no payments of any kind involved. That being said... so glad this junk is cancelled... for now. I don't trust that promoter one bit.

Every poster here should take ten minutes out of their day and read the Wiki entry for the Trayvon Martin shooting, top to bottom, before judging Zimmerman. What happened was a tragedy and an avoidable one (in hindsight, many tragedies are avoidable, aren't they?) but I don't think for a minute that Zimmerman was a bad man or that he intentionally killed Martin. He (Zimmerman) may be a bad man now, due to life events after the event (I'm sure self-medication via drug and/or alcohol, and eventual suicide are in his future, if not his present), but just read about him, and the event, for yourself: the post-shooting rush to judgement, the doctored CCTV footage, the media bias, the cell phone call, the media-edited 911 call, it's all just really sad when you cut through the bullshit. I know I'll be jumped on for this post, hence the anonymity, but just familiarize yourself with a few more of the facts before damning the man. He's in hell right now, and will be until the day he dies. I pity everyone involved in this case, the parents of Travyon Martin and (yes) George Zimmerman too.

    1. Actually, while I disagree with you, and at this point don't want to read the article, making a celebrity out of someone who shot and killed a teen is just wrong. It shows no sympathy for the "tragedy", or for the living victims of the "tragedy", like Trayvon's parents. The fact that he thinks so little of their suffering tells me something about him.

    3. Because Wiki and facts go so well together

    4. @AndyCane, actually, I'm a Wikipedia editor myself - although not on this particular story - and I work pretty hard to find the facts and document them with an appropriate references. You've probably seen Wikipedia stories polka-dotted with 'citation needed' subscript, and that's because that particular story **has not** been fully documented. Anyone can edit Wikipedia - including you - and any outlandish lies or extremely slanted points of view tend to get corrected quickly, particularly on hot-button stories. Wikipedia is by no means perfect, but were the 'Encyclopedia Brittanica's of the old days written by white Western men any more perfect? Get with the program, man.

Does the story pick up from there?

@Anonymous Sorry, but this site does not allow for differing opinions. You risk starting a trend that would also allow dissenting points of view on Woody Allen, Chris Brown, Tom Cruise and God knows who else. Not allowed.

  24. Every time I want to know the TRUTH I always go to Wikipedia...you know..because..freedom and stuff.
BTW... Wiki is not that bad..read what Nutty_Flavor said above... it can be edited by anyone with a bias, that's all.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Violet, you're absolutely right, it can be edited by anyone with a bias, but then it's usually edited back pretty quickly by someone with the opposite bias. I've been on a story recently about a prominent Jewish figure, and been fighting back rabid anti-Semites on one side and rabid Zionists on the other. Again, that's mostly on hot-button stories. On smaller stories, bad facts and extreme points of view have a better chance of slipping through.

  26. @Nutty, I understand exactly what you mean. For about an hour according to Wikipedia I starred in Good Times and held the WWF Championship during WrestleMania 3. (A friend of mine was messing around on it)

  28. The only tragedy of the situation is that Zimmerman didn't die also. 2 less assholes in the world is better than one less.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Who did Zimmerman 'murder'? He was acquitted of murder, due to self defense. Remember, Saint Skittles was pounding Zimmerman's head into the pavement. Zimmerman would have died? And this would never be a story.

It was a weak charge, pressed by Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. In order to get a 'white' man guilty for killing a poor innocent young black kid. Never mind that Zimmerman was a Hispanic and Trayvon was a juvenile delinquent.

On to the fight itself, a promoter has a duty to protect his fighters, and that the fighters adhere to the rules of boxing. From what DMX has said, he was going to send Zimmerman to the hospital or in a body bag. If he did, both DMX and the promoter would be criminally and financially on the hook for his death.

    "Saint Skittles" made me giggle.

And now, as an African American woman, I feel like a bad person.
