This A list mostly movie comic actor has been giving interviews for his new movie and hoping the botox he got injected into his face wears off quickly. It has caused him to have a half smile on his face which he can't get rid of. He looks ridiculous. It's even funnier to hear him talk.

I think he is attractive for someone his age.

ReplyDeleteThat's not even gossip. Everyone Botoxes these days don't they? Lord, I think even my local green grocer has had it done. Ben's face is sort of peculiar at the best of times so I doubt people would really notice anyway bless him.

DeleteYes, very common, Violet - and they normally tell you to keep your face straight - expressionless - before they inject.
I'm not ashamed to admit I have it done.
Fun fact: It works very well on migraines! And perspiration, too (when injected into the armpits [I don't have that done but know people who do]).
@Violet, yeah, but Stiller was f'ed during the Secret Life Of Walter Mitty stuff. He looked like he had a partial case of Bells Palsy.

DeleteI know a girl who is 26 and she already gets botox and filler! She looks surprisingly good (like you can not notice the work) but still I think that is too young. I don't think I will ever get that done. I just started moisturizing and that helps big time.

Ok I admit that my hatred of Ben comes from the fact that he looks like one of my exes that was a complete and total asshole. So now I can't look at Ben without seeing said ex.

ReplyDelete@J---I was joking! lol---I would try it but too pricey and yeah it is probably snake oil. My sister uses something called Strivectin-night with retinol and she swears by it. She is 12 years older than me but could pass for being 20 something. I just use the cheap neutrogena stuff for the time being.
ReplyDelete@Derek Harvey - Strivectin is very good. Neutrogena is great stuff for the price. My best friend is a make-up artist for one of the networks in LA, and swears by L'oreal (I kid you not). She uses a few Mac, and Stila, products here and there, but mostly sticks to L'oreal. She's mid-40s and looks early 30s ... she uses Dr Perricone skincare which is very effective but so hideously expensive here (NZ$300 for a pottle of moisturiser that you guys can get for around US$90), so not something I fancy buying.
DeleteI second this as a former makeup artist for Lancôme. The reason L'oreal is better than other drugstore brands is because Lancôme is a division of Loreal- they share a lot of technology and formulation, and L'oreal is 75%+ less expensive. This goes for their skincare and makeup.
Delete@Stepforded--I am virtually wrinkle free except for under my eyes---I have been getting hideous deep wrinkles under there (maybe from staring at a computer so often)---any suggestions how to get rid of em --(think budget friendly please)
ReplyDelete@Derek - Origins do a magic little eye cream in an orange pottle ... it has ginseng in it (they call it GinZing) and it works wonders. It's best used in the morning but you could use it at night too. It's around US$30 which is a bargain for what it does.

ReplyDelete@Ecua- I didn't do it until it had been on the market for a while. A little nervous the first time? Sure. But, not having forehead wrinkles makes it worth it, IMO. I'd be scared to do it by my eyes...

ReplyDeleteI used to have Botox injections for migraines and another condition I have. After a few rounds I quit, not being able to pick my head up off a pillow and the drooling was not sexy.

DeleteMy case is/was pretty severe, we had even discussed a brain stimulator at one point. My Botox injections were quite extensive, basically from my mid back or shoulder area all the way up, including my chest.
DeleteI can say though that it does last for about 3 months at a time, then you have to go back in for another round of injections. Afterwards you are like a newborn baby, all your muscles that have been injected are weak. I wasn't lying about picking up my head, I couldn't look up after washing my face in a sink. You have to work at strengthening the muscles back up.
Ok, I'm done shitting on the thread, LowKey if you need to talk about it I can open up my email just let me know. Migraines are a mofo.

ReplyDeleteI get migraines bad, and much more frequently than in the past. thought of needles, just not the botox type. that is a new wrinkle i might have to look up on. Thanks informative Gossip commenters
ReplyDelete@Lowkey...i used to get migraines 2+ times a week and started getting both injections in the muscle above the eye where my migraines triggered. Generally, they don't use as much for migraines as they do for cosmetic purposes. After my surgery (my illness ended up being found to be the major cause of my migraines, although I still get maybe 1 a month), I stopped getting injections and haven't noticed any lingering effects. I think it cost around $250 every 3 months until it was approved for migraines and insurance started covering it at 80%.

ReplyDeleteAlso, as someone who, despite being otherwise average, has always had excellent skin which looks much younger than my age, I highly recommend Retin A in addition to an AHA/BHA (I use Amlactin 12% (AHA) + a salicylic acid acne cream (BHA)) cream. I started using Retin A in my early 20s at my dermatologist's suggestion under the theory that keeping aging at bay was better in the long run than trying to backtrack. He has been proven right imo.
All of the expensive, fancy creams (for the most part) don't have any proven science behind them and you're really paying for the cost of exotic ingredients.
For cleansing I use baby wipes and for moisturizing, Ponds (which helped keep my grandmother's face super soft)
Paying more doesn't get you more. It just ends up costing you more.
L'Oreal still test on animals, which is a real shame as their products are great.
ReplyDeleteI use ROC from France, it's cheap on EBay and their eye cream sucks back wrinkles in seconds.
I also love Living Nature from NZ it has Manuka honey in it, which is great for sensitive skin.

DeleteBen Stiller is a short, butt ugly, nasty person. Talk about nepotism. His parents were great comedic actors and very likable. He did not inherit their charisma.

ReplyDeleteJust don't use Retin-A / Retinol in a day cream, a sunscreen, a lipstick, etc. etc.. It's vitamin A and when combined with the sun, will actually make skin age faster. Ref: WebMD
The thing about Stiller I don't get: why does he seem so ANGRY all the time? What's he for to be angry about? Comfy childhood, successful career, lovely wife and sweet kids. Wtf?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely @Snapdragon. I am out in the sun a lot in the summer but since my mid teens I always have copious amounts of sunscreen on my face and a hat/sunglasses. My sister is 4 years older than me and easily looks 15-20 years older.
ReplyDeleteAlso re Retin A...you can't wax brows, etc. if you use it (I don't know about Retinol). I found this out the hard way when I went in to have my brows waxed and they didn't ask me if I used it (they should). It took off the top several layers of skin and it looked like I had a bad 2nd degree burn. Luckily it was a small spot and luckily I scar well or it could have been really bad.
Wasn't he the one who had such a strict eating regime for himself and his wife....that he counted out the number of almonds they could eat each day, and mainly existed on Diet Coke?

Those of us who were born before sunblock was really invented and the dangers of sun exposure were really known are SOL to some degree.
So it pains me to see all these young people especially teenage girls obsessed with the tanning bed crap.
Botox by a talented doc shouldn't cause problems. That's a bad doctor - or worse, an assistant.
