Blind Item #5

This B list mostly movie actress who should be closer to a B- based on her current box office success used to be an A list mostly movie actress. Her manager is so scared of being fired by the never really nice actress that the manager didn't even visit their daughter who was in the hospital having emergency surgery because the manager was afraid to be out of sight of the actress for longer than a few minutes.

  1. Just because you can't be "fired" for being a mom, doesn't mean you should prioritize this ish

  6. The manager needs to get her priorities straight. Work is not an excuse to skip being there for your child who is having emergency surgery.

  7. Oh and before I forget, sorry to be OT but in regards to all the drama-Rama the last couple days, a really cool new studying just came out on trolls and personality traits:

I was just curious about that myself. We are nosy betches

    3. I'm the one doing a thesis. I believe Lady H was doing a dissertation. They aren't the same.

    5. @7 that's true in the US boo
In other countries (ie UK) a thesis also refers to doctoral dissertations. Whenever Boyfriend Heisenberg nags me to work on my thesis, I tell him a) I finished that (MA) a long time and b) step off me, yo!

Haha however, that's not nearly as funny of a linguistic clash between a Yankee-Doodle (as he calls me) and a Welshman story as the time I discovered that over there, fanny means pussy...

  8. Interesting @Lady
I hope Tillie and Canopener read that and get the help they need.

  9. There are so many not so nice actresses to choose from, this blind is impossible. The list could go on all day. Julia and Reese are great guesses though.

  10. Not nice actress who doesn't draw money at her films=Katherine Heigl.

  11. Paltrow, Heigl, Lohan, Ryder, Fox, Barton, Roberts, JLo, GOOP, January J, Laura Jean Poon, Shenae Grimes, Jen Aniston, Terri Snatcher, JLo, Doherty, etc
I'm guessing it's either Heigl or Wino Forever.

  13. As a troll, I resent their findings. I am certainly an attention whore, but no where near a narcissist. You goatse someone or rick roll em, that makes you a sadist? Gimme a break.

Also, I think they left out a HUGE section of trolls, the OCD nutcases who don't even think they are trolls, but everyone else sees it. Like the abundance of political trolls on twitter and FB, just voicing their monotonous opinion to anyone with an opposing view. These are the mentally ill who take it to real life via lawsuits, swatting, etc.

As far as curbing trolling, ESPN.com tried that when they got inundated with people sick of hearing about T-bo. They changed their comments section from an anon in house thing to where you needed to log in via Facebook. They probably lost 1/2 their posters and clicks to SI.com instantly, and many just made bobo FB accts.

How ridiculous are they to think that people have to give accurate info to FB? I haven't given an accurate name to a social media site or email provider since I first had an AOL account. The email addy linked in my profile is a gmail acct. couple days after setting it up, I got an alert: "'cdancount jerkula' is not a valid name. Your Google+ acct has been deactivated." Thank GAWD. Pleez Mr Google, threaten me with some more favors.

Also, were the subjects of that study all from Canada? The long winters make them people a bit off. They cheered for Brett Hart over Stone Cold. Something aint right with that.

    2. Goatse is wrong wrong WRONG. Do not google, people, unless you want your eyeballs blistered to the back of your brain.

      LOL @ Mr Google!

As someone who is not a troll but is apparently suspected of being one by not one but two (TWO) regulars (?), I understand the resentment of the implication. I post under 7 of 11 daily and up until a couple of days ago, even had my profile available and my email listed. I suppose that makes me less a sadist than a masochist. Live and learn, 7, live and learn.

    3. Of course we cheered for Brett Hart over Stunning Steve Austin!

  14. LOL @Count. They actually said narcissism was the only dark trait not linked with trolling btw
Like any study, it has serious limitations, which subsequent projects will improve on no doubt but I think it offers an intriguing glimpse behind the psychology of trolling. I don't think the authors are trying to say trolls are all psychopaths or sadists, but that people engaged in these behaviors tend to typically demonstrate more of these traits. They've found similar results for people in certain occupations- CEOs and stand up comedians for example.

  15. @Kim---those horrible people that run tabloids and tell outrageous stories about you like your butt has gotten so big that you had to get a special chair made for you to do a photo-shoot with Kanye!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Actually when you think about it trolls probably have little self-esteem. So narcissism would be out.

  17. Anyone ever check out the comment section at Radar Online. Especially under the usual suspects like Lohan and Paris -there are sooo many trolls that fight all day and night with each other. There is like a hierarchy and they are on there 24/7. The Lohan one is the worst--not only do they talk nonsense all day but threaten her and wish death etc. Very scary and gross.

  18. Interesting link @Lady, I consciously don't engage in the negative comments. It works when trolls are ignored and the trolls fade away when they realize they don't have an audience.

I've always followed this but I worry one day when someone will pick on another CDANer and I will just instinctively be like, oh hell no!

  19. @Kim: Snooki w/ warts on face, not just pussy, and living under a bridge, shaking down billy goats for toll money.

@Lady H: I'd still be more interested in the OCD kook group. Mix in stiff dose of narcissism and complete lack of coping skills, and there are yer true internet wack jobs.

  20. @Lady, I've always wondered the why about trolling, thanks for posting the link--I'm going to read it. I mean the article, not the link

  21. OH 7, you popped a memory of big category of trolls that the study left out, the Negative Attention trolls. The "daddy didn't pay attention to me unless I did something bad, so I replicate that on the internet" type masochists. Their goal isn't to laugh or stroke their ego or stick it to someone, it is to be berated so they can feel what they perceive as love. They won't engage in and argument, they will just gobble up all the negative attention they can get.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh dear, @Count, I think I know that troll. Daddy complex is the perfect description.

    2. There are far better sites to troll watch on. Besides Fugazi Count, and contrived trolls like just curious, Massive and 888, the trolls here are plyful and funny. You gotta go where the sociopaths dwell. Where everyone is a troll so they gotta work hard to get noticed.

  29. Immabout to check out Goatse.

Funny how the discussions on that troll study seemed to devolve into a troll controlling the discussion.

I think I know who you're talking about Count.

I like when people on a blog get mad and say you obviously DON'T understand them when it's because you don't agree with them. Very different. Or when someone says something so heinous to someone else that other people come to that person's defense but then complain that it's all of the high school. Kids are ganging up on them.

Look, you don't wanna get punched on the play ground play nice with others.

  31. Katherine Heigl? She used to be A list when Knocked Up came out. Her current box office disaster was The Big Wedding. Plus she's always working. If the manager is scared to leave the actress alone for more than a few MINUTES, the actress must be a work-a-holic.
