  1. Oh how I love the BAFTAS but I question all the love for 'American Hustle', it was a disjointed, boring story with bland characters in historically appropriate costumes.
Stephen Fry FTW as host of EVERYTHING tho! So many LOL's

  2. Im beginning to feel more confident that Leo wont win an Oscar this year.

  3. I'm surprised that they are handing out awards for Woody's Blue Jasmine.

I thought it was very touching and heart-felt when Cate dedicated her award to her good friend Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Love Cate - she can do no wrong!

  5. Was going to say exact same thing about Stephen Fry. Funnier than everyone but never at someone else's expense. He's just that good.

    Loved him last night!

  6. OT: who saw Bafta's red carpet?
It's only me or Christian Bale's wife looked pregnant ?http://monicabbm2.tumblr.com/post/76865153199

  7. Now I love Lupita but clearly she's not had enough opportunity to perfect her "oh how lovely for the winner, I was just happy to be nominated' face.

You could have put her on Rushmore and no one would've been able to tell the difference!

  8. Blue Jasmine was an average movie made great by a transcendent performance by Cate.
I'm with you @stepforded....she can do no wrong!
@sprink the only. Other person I would want to insult me more than Stephen Fry is Mr Wilde himself, he is the Velvet Glove personified!

    1. Indeed. His insults wouldn't sting, they'd feel like caresses.

  9. Also, I was delighted to see Barkhad Abdi win, partly because he doesn't get swarmed on the red carpet so I'd never heard him speak. Reassuring that he doesn't sound as mean as his pirate c

  10. Just watching Will Poulter, he's so cute! Great speech, makes me want to watch his film!

  11. Dallas Buyer's Club nowhere at Bafta's--was it not eligible or was this a massive snub?

I find it interesting Damon was allowed to be nominated for best supporting in film (not telly/emmy), so there are clearly different rules. And I'm kind of pleased Michael Douglas didn't get a nomination--I actually think Damon's was the better performance.

  12. @Sprink
DBC has been showed and McConaughey even went in England to do Q&A during some Bafta screening

    1. So it was just a huge snub. Interesting.

  14. Disagree on the American Hustle comment-I thought it was genius --loved the way it was put together with the sort of a comedy and sort of not vibe

Really reminded me of Goodfellas and I thought Amy Adams really rocked it far more than JLaw.

I don't think Leo will pull it out either at the Oscars....M M will win-it was a great performance and the performance of his career so far

  15. Ohhhh Dame Helen just lulled me into a gorgeous poem-coma of gorgeousness.....she is UNTOLD!!

  16. I guess I'm the only one who thought Jennifer Lawrence's performance in "American Hustle" to be just a variation on her character in "Silver Linings" except with a different wardrobe, which I strongly suspect is just a variation of her own personality. Oh well. Good for her, I guess! (Sorry Lupita.)

  17. Apparently DBC wasn't opened in Britain when the nominations were submitted. It was eligible, but no one had seen it.

Or at least I am trying to give the benefit of the doubt instead of believing they would snub such great performances

  18. Interesting that again, Fruitvale Station and The Butler weren't nomed in the UK either aside from Okra and hair and make-up.

I too thought Amy Adams deserves(d) the award over JLaw. I loves her but Amy really kicked her ass. AND, for anyone who's seen it, the idea of Jennifer kissing her was Amy's idea.
