Your Turn

Quentin Tarantino had his new script leak. He thinks it was leaked by Michael Madsen or Bruce Dern. I'm going to vote for Michael Madsen. Who do you think leaked the script that will now never be made into a movie?

  1. Quentin said he thinks their agents leaked it, not them.

    Nice try though.

  2. How is it the actor's fault if the actors gave it to their agents? Isn't that their role -- to preview scripts and consult with the actor regarding making it? Were they specifically sworn to secrecy or something?

  3. I saw something about six people, not two.

  4. Who knows. I'm still trying to find out who killed Cock Robin and who let the dogs out.

    1. Woof, woof, woof, woof!!!

7/11 I really can't believe I just did that to myself. I hate that dog song with a passion and it's just the kind of song that gets stuck in my craw alllllllll damn day.

  5. He never said the movie will never be made, it just won't be the movie he makes next.

  6. At Quenrin's level, scripts don't need to be given to agents. Usually only the leads get a full script on high profile films. At best, an agent would only get a side. Quinten is a little child-like and naive. This is the mistake of an amateur unfortunately.

    1. What movies have you written? To call Quentin amateur...like who are you? Eric Roth? Aaron Sorkin?

    2. I'm not calling QT amateur. I'm calling his trust and enthusiasm amateur. He's a tremendous filmmaker and I admire him a great deal. If you've ever been around him, he's like a kid in a candy store. And his knowledge for film is encyclopedic. It doesn't surprise me that his script was leaked. He needs to keep his projects close to the cuff, but because of his enthusiasm, he can't. That's what I'm saying. He needs to take a page out of George Lucas or Speilberg's play book and keep his projects under lock and key!

  7. Even if it's Madsen who sold the script to his dealer(my theory),Tarantino is the godfather of his kids

  8. I thought QT was like Nolan about his script

  9. It's already been said that the agency leaked it, that it came from Creative Artist, and that is where Bruce Dern is. More proof that Enty goes for sensationalism. In addition, Quentin has said he will still have Dern be in his next movie.

  12. how does an agency leak a script?

isnt that totally unprofessional and will ruin their reputation?

  13. Writergirlinla-

Maybe someday QT will learn enough about screenwriting to be as expert as you!

    1. Ha. Not that expert but I imagine an intern or low level employee/fanboy got access to it. Like I said, Quentin is too trusting. He gets excited and likes to share. It's his own damn fault. Quentin needed the reality check. He's his own worst fanboy!

  15. I had the Django Unchained script 2 years before it hit cinemas so i don't see the problem. His scripts are a great read.

  16. As mentioned, it was likely leaked by an agent, not an actor. Supposedly Madsen doesn't currently have an agent and Tarantino fingered CAA, which represents Dern.

  17. I read he's turning it into a novel now.

  18. I'll admit it. It was me. My bad.

  19. The agent would have to be pretty stupid to do that though cannot see a veteran agent at CAA making that kind of career killing mistake - an underling I could see or some newbie

    1. Had to be an underling. If the script is out there, it should be heavily watermarked if it's a copy. If it's not a watermark, someone re-entered it into a computer or the copy they got was pristine. Many heads are rolling regardless.

  21. What's the difference between a script being leaked, and a movie based on a novel that everyone knows the ending to? Didn't everyone know what the Harry Potter films were about? The Twilight films?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Why would an actor leak a script? Because he doesn't want to work in the movie? It must be that, both Madsen and Dern have plenty of work in the best movies for the next five years.

  23. God knows I didn't know about the Harry Potter movies were, and sure as hell I haven't read any of the twilight/hunger games/ some other shit books.

  24. Wrong again, Enty - He also gave it to Tim Roth. He never said any of those actors leaked it.

He said he was going to wait 5 years to make it, just not make it as his next film - not that he was NEVER going to make it. In fact, he said he was going to publish it as a book.

He said he was going to write a role for Bruce Dern in his next film.

And the script wasn't actually leaked to the public, he started getting calls from agents want to pitch actors to star in it.

  25. Oh, shit. I LOVE both Michael Madsen and Tim Roth. Can't wait to see them together again…in ANYTHING!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Madsen because he is insane. They'll make it anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  27. from what i heard it was an one of the actors agents assistants who 'leaked' it.
the problem with that is the agents weren't even supposed to get to see the script, so thats where the breech of confidence comes in. Agent has assistant make copies and distributed the script.
without a watermark on high profile jobs you'll never find out did it.

  28. I love Tim Roth - Lie to Me was so underrated. He's underrated in general.

As for Quentin, meh, he's a bit of a mess but essentially harmless. He's having a tantrum but it's not as if this is unusual at all. He should chill, which is impossible for him.

  30. @Sunny, ITA! Writergirl and hollywood dime need to get on that new blog idea ASAP!

@Kels, while indeed being very talented, QT is an amateur when it comes to scripts and PR. This isn't his first leak, and now he's publicly demanding Hollywood "name names" about who leaked the script. Chances are, we'll see some PR lackey thrown under the bus for his/her Kinko run.

  32. I have no idea who might have leaked the script, but the fact that the movie now won't be made doesn't exactly fill me with dismay. I've always thought that Tarantino is vastly overrated.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Tarantino said he only gave the actors the scripts, met with them privately. They handed them over to their agents, and voila, somebody sold something.

I find it hard to believe that Madsen would leak it on purpose. That would be biting the hand that feeds him. He also never gave Christoph Waltz the script, even though he was starring in it as well.
