Your Turn

How many car accidents have you been in? As a driver or passenger.

  1. Two minor fender benders as the driver and two nasty ones as the passenger. Sounds like a lot when I lay it out like that.

  2. During the 80's, I swear there was a magnet in my trunk. About 10 total, mostly rear ended (8 times).
Thank all the Gods, there hasn't been a repeat since 1989.

  4. I've been the cause of about 4 accidents but those were all pre college. I even got sued after causing one accident. The lady said she couldn't have sex with her husband because the accident hurt her back. On the first day I drove after getting my license I accidentally ran over a squirrel. I should have known it was gonna be rough after that.

But now I'm an excellent driver! Accident free since 1993!

  10. 1 small fender bender at 17 as driver and my fault. 1 as a passenger.
Does it count if you've hit a car parked behind you? Ferrari's are very hard to see from the back of a Toyota.

  15. I hit a police van once. Hit the ice and there was nothing I could do. Lucky for me, the officer had a great sense of humor.

  16. 1 and it was the other guys fault. They were doing work on the interstate and only had one lane and I was right by the ramp to get on and the guy came on the ramp doing interstate speed (70 at the time) while we were doing about 25 and ran into the back of me. Found out he was rushing to the hospital to see his mom who had just had a heart attack but he didn't have insurance.

Guy was good to his word about paying, though. He asked me where I worked and told me to get estimates on fixing the car and he would pay for it. I got them and called him. The next day he showed up to where I worked and handed me the cash, $4500.

  17. Oh, and his mom turned out alright. I see him from time to time around town and we always chat for a bit.

  19. Teenage passenger , bus strike, and me & Besty had to make the party. We. We're side swiped, we jumped out and ran away. We were hitch hiking for our first and last time. Our mothers would have killed us.
2nd, passenger, on Samos island, I met with an Aussie couple, we were stoked that I had The The with me. We were drunk with vacay high, singing loudly and dude side swiped a rock wall. We ditched the car and took the next ferry to Turkey. I gave them a fake address & in our guilt we parted ways once we got to shore. It was all good and we didn't seem that it was no worse than the service we were experiencing. Our justification at the time.
Being in a serious accident is my greatest fear.

  20. One, when I was driving. Got rear-ended really hard and smashed my head into the steering wheel. Other driver was at fault, but tried to act like she wasn't. Luckily there were witnesses.

  21. Four and I was always the driver but never at fault! Either the other driver or road conditions. I hate to drive now, I get anxious over it.

  22. Two: One as a driver (other driver's fault) and one as a passenger (the person driving the car I was in ran a red light because she was yakking). Luckily, no injuries in both cases.

  23. One and it was not completely my fault, my dumbass mother should have known better than to leave a 3 year old in a running car.

  24. 1 as a passanger when i was a kid with my dad driving and 3 as a driver, first one some ass in a parking lot ran into me, second i rear ended a poor woman but no damages or injuries, and one near fatal that i insist was not my fault but i was too injured to defend myself.
