Victoria Beckham Won't Be A Spice Girl Again

With the buzz growing louder about another Spice Girls reunion, it was only a matter of time before someone got Victoria Beckham on the record telling the world she wouldn't do it. That time has come. Victoria said in an interview that the London Olympics reunion was it for her. She says it was the perfect time to end the group and that sometimes you need to learn when to leave the party. Of course if she hadn't married David Beckham and used his name and influence to start her own fashion line and succeed at that she would probably be the first one lining up to play another reunion tour. She doesn't have any other talent or way to make money. Yes, she is a good designer but she needs to be honest and realize that without the Spice Girls she doesn't meet David Beckham and doesn't get the chance. What about her former partners? Mel B does great and I think Geri has enough money from other umm gigs that she is going to be fine but that still leaves Mel C and Emma B. What's wrong with making the party last? I think it's because she's trying to pretend it never happened. cc: Justin Timberlake.

  1. Well....that's her choice isn't it? I would rather see happy Spice Girls than a group of happy Spice Girls and...um....Victoria being her usual self.

She did her time if she doesn't want to do it again so be it. I don't know that she contributes much anyway, at the Olympics she just kind of stood there. If the other girls want to go for it they should but I don't think Victoria should feel pressured to. If someone told me I had to be a Pizza Hut waitress again for the night ( my job 20 years ago) I'd tell them to go f**k themselves too.

  3. Shes not trying to pretend it never happened. Shes pushing 40! Do we really want to see her jump around in tiny outfits and huge platforms and talk abt girl power? I think not!

  4. Tuesday mimosas are perfectly OK, too!

I don't know... moving on with your life isn't such a bad thing. If Mel C and Emma B couldn't do it, how is that Posh's fault?

  5. I don't blame her. So what if she married well? Good for her, and that shouldn't be a strike against her. Just because she's in a different place in her life doesn't mean the other Spice Girls should be her permanent dependents. They're grown women and can make their own financial decisions. I didn't realized Enty had changed his cap to be the Bitter Bus Driver today.

  6. Why should she ? It was good, it's over and she's moved on.

Sometimes its just time to move on. Its not like they were the rolling stones. Lol

  8. wow, wait, what's up with the Geri comment?

  9. Aww come on Emma B's a radio presenter and Mel C's on the musical circuit. I mean they're by no means enormous (by which I mean they're not at all enormous) but they keep going. And I doubt any of them actually need the money desperately.

And yes, what is Geri up to these days?

  10. They can always reband without her. In fact, they could have a reality show competition to find her replacement. Win/Win.

  11. If you can sit through it... "Geri's blog reads like your grandma's fridge magnets" has a link to her failed video. It's almost pre-Miley.

  12. Mel C is fine, she was the one who could really sing anyway. She had the most post-group solo singing sucess.

Plus she doesn't do stupid flaunty stuff like Mel B or Geri.

  13. It was 20 years ago!!! She's over it. I appreciate her honesty. And her talents lie in fashion and being a mom. Ain't no shame in that game.

  14. I don't see any problem with her stance. She readily admits to being the worst singer/dancer of the group, readily admits to her own ambition being in fashion. Why shouldn't she get to choose what she does or does not do with her career?

And I don't see it as a snub to her history as part of the group or how she got her fame, she did the Olympics thing, turned up for the Spice Girls musical premiere, doesn't refuse to talk of it or anything like that. She's moved on to a career she prefers, feels better suited to & is fortunate enough to have opportunities available to her with it. Fair enough in my view.

They were a joke even back in the 90's, also touring wears you out, it seems exciting when you're young but not so much when you get older & have young kids

  16. Back when she married David she was the bigger star. He was a great footballer, but nowhere near as popular as her.
Together they became a brand and extended BOTH their careers. He got endorsements and she got her fashion line.
Why is it bad that she has moved on from the Spice Girls? Everyone has.

  17. geri did a work out thing and got super in shape. maybe today's enty is being catty and implying that geri was gold digging.

remember a few months ago when mel c did the song on qvc? they are all doing their own thing. its just natural.

  18. Oh enty, dont be sad, its over. Thats fine. The other spices have to make their own way. I think its pathetic to have these reunion concerts-like the monkees-as old men. Pathetic. Be done and move on.

  19. Nothing like going home to visit friends and they're watching the same bands and saying the same thing they did 30 years ago. Touring isn't fun or easy but a necessary evil. Time to move on and I can't blame her.

  20. I don't think she thinks she's above it or whatnot. I just don't think she really enjoys it and she knows she can't sing. I would LOVE IT if she would just say something like "I don't enjoy it and would rather focus on something I'm actually good at" (parenting/designing).

  21. Spice Girls would be such hard work. I wouldn't want to do it. And care for four kids. And keep my husband happy. Forget about it!

  22. Whoever wrote this is a miserable little troll who projects their miserable little mind onto others because misery craves company. Bleh.
Get a REAL JOB scumbag, and then tell us who doesn't have any other talent or way to make money.

  23. People forget she has a very successful fashion line. She shows at all the fashion weeks and is makes a lot of money doing that.

  24. I see no shame in this. I can't think of a higher note to close on, then the Olympics, in your home Country.

What do the Enties want? A Rolling Stones type tour for them?

  25. What a bullsh*t post!

Victoria is super successful as a designer! I think she's mature to say enough is enough with the Spice Girls. She never pretended she could sing or dance. She was rich before the Spice Girls, she probably would have met Becks anyway.

And what's wrong with Mel C and Emma? Emma is famous now with her own TV show and none of the others NEED Spice Girls either. They made their millions a decade ago.

and the JT reference, yeah right. He was what, 12, when the Spice Girls got famous? Puhleeeze.

For the record, I've always hated that song. I can't get with the sentiment, either.

  28. Who knew Enty had such a boner for the Spice Girls?

First off, David Beckham would NEVER have become as big a name/brand if it had not been for Posh. He would have been a soccer star, yes but not the world recognized face he became. How many other English soccer stars do I recognize on sight? None. Together they became Posh and Becks and she was way more famous when they got together.

Victoria was honest with herself and everyone else about her "talents" - I remember the blind reveal where she gave a bunch of money to a girl who was busking (maybe on the Santa Monica pier?) and said "she's a way better singer than I ever was".

I certainly wouldn't want to be still working at my first job ever. She has done a great job building credibility as a respected designer - who knew? Why would she want to throw all that away to go out on tour doing Great Hits for a second rate pop band?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I can't blame her really. She did the tour a couple of years ago though she didn't want to just to help out her old buddies. Same thing with the Olympics - didn't want to do it, but did it anyway. So now everytime the other girls want more money, she's supposed to agree to it against her will? Eff that.

  30. Wow. Who knew that sweet and fragile little flower Posh had so many righteous defenders?

Whatever. Nobody actually cares if the Spice Girls get back together except the ones who aren't making any money. Good luck to them but it's not as if they didn't know Posh was a bitch. As long as she pays for good nannies, that's fine.

The crack about Geri was because she went pro for a while.

  31. I'm not a Vicky fan but do people seriously want a Spice Girls reunion anyway? They sucked then and they'd probably suck worse now. I don't get the nostalgia for them, they were corny as hell.

  32. Really? I met my husband because we both worked at the same restaurant. Doesn't mean I want to ever step foot in that crap-hole again!

  33. No one got upset when Grace Slick said she was done performing on stage, so what's wrong with this? I think she's smart to get out of it and move on, so many performers never learn to do this and it's ugly to watch.
